I started writing a reply to the SHC thread where you got it from, but it was locked. But to summarize, I think a statement like the one BL made (and similar) manages to cheese the enemy off real good. If you're attacking, and someone is clearly losing, the last thing you want them to be is proud of themselves. You want them to eat crow, bend over, feel the karma, taste their medicine, etc etc.. And instead they're grinning, mooning or giving the finger. But this isn't even the first, second or third time EVE's been through the "impending demise of BoB". All you're ever doing with a force of numbers is giving their players a massive ego stroke, and keeping the alliance the center of attention. I would be interested in seeing what effect this had on witless newbies coming to EVE. Would certainly explain the myth and legend parts of BoB's image :p The only thing different now is you might succeed in changing public perception of BoB from 12ft-giant-that-farts-lightning to underdog-RAstyle-pariah-martyrhero. God give me a break digi dear. The last 3 years of every action bob has taken has been to create an empire. An empire whos only goal was to dominate EVE and there is so much evidence to back it up.. Bob has never acted the way they did becuase they like to fight. They have acted the way they did becuase they like to win. You want evididence lets just take a few example. Bob vs FA.. Infiltrating FA with alts so they could offline a tower that basically made FA to quit. This was not done by a big wish to fight but the sole purpose was to win with whatever it took. I think it was the first example in EVE where metagaming was introduced. EC- 600 man blob lead by bob against Trust. A direct assault on G & Iron. This 600man blob was not created becuase bob wanted to fight it was created becuase they wanted to win. BOB vs ASCN I have never seen a more dirty war in EVE ever.. Every aspect of matagaming from spies to TS infiltration, forum propaganda was done to avoid fighting a long war vs ASCN. BOb wanted to win they didnt wanted to fight them. And the list goes on and on digi. So when you and blacklight comes here and directly lie to all of us just so you can try to come up with and excuse to why you are losing this war then im starting to think wtf is going on?? As fare as I know evol has allways hated liers.. Also a final argument. Why in gods name has several of the old timers including one CEO mr hippocrit himself, AKA blackligh been gone from the game since bob started to lose this wars of all wars? you know why because he is a guy that dont like to fight he likes to win.. The only one in hole of bob that like to fight is thol and crew and what in gods name they are still doing with you muppets is beyond me. So this hole story some of the bob leaders are trying to come up with instead of just dealing with there own incompetence and realisied they are about to lose the war fair and squar they got bet by a newer and much better opponent in anyway. Its like invading someone and saying its a holiday or vacation. If you get beat back and leave you can say its just as you planned. If you decide to leave because they don't undock or don't give easy kills anymore, you can say thats what you planned. If you decide to stay permanently you can say "nice region, well take it". Let me say that I think BoB is far from dead. I just think that they are planning an escape route. You know like the bajillion references to "what happens when BoB comes to your space", and "we have no region so we can go live in yours". When they first came north to fight PA, they didn't have space either(unless you count fountain). However eventually the guys and gals who do the industrial lifting will need a place to set up Rorquals/Hulks/POS. If they find that place, I see them surviving and becoming better than their peak(8 region?). However they have also made it so that it's in a lot of people's best interest that they not recover. Who knows, we make look back in a few months and this first year + could be just the beginning of the war. We will see.
