Fact of the matter is that this whole thing is "teh lose" for CCP, not only by allowing suicide ganking on this scale in Empire are they discouraging players from staying, they are offending large portions of their customer base. I have petitioned for the "news" item to be edited or removed, and the "jihad" references to be wiped from the forums and I invite everyone else to do the same.

Again, this is an example of why CCP's ban on using religion or real world events/politics here and in game is a sensible one and should be enforced. The Goons can play at being king of Empire all they want. I thought they were supposed to be fighting BOB, but I guess that was too much for them so they've had to turn on killing people who can't fight back, and in contaminating the game forums and in game news with this crap. The goons are not exactly enhancing their reputation with this behavior, and I suspect, may find this event brought up later on as a cause for the whole game uniting to eliminate THEM from space as BOB is being eliminated now. But I digress. This stuff does NOT belong in the game or on the forums. The reason why we are even discussing this right now is that CCP themselves have glorified it with a news post, which is extremely poor judgement on their part.

Technically, the literal meaning of the word, as an Arabic word, is struggle towards a set purpose or something to that effect. So, in that sense he is right. However, the common implied meaning of the word as an Islamic religious term (which is the way it's been mainly used since Muhammed's days) is "religious war". (Note the two parts I highlighted.)

They have the resources to effectivly stop 100's maybe even 1000's of players from playing the game. What gives them the righ to effectivly shut down the game time of these miners and paying customers. Eve is about fun and entertainment. For some its mining the crap out of roids in the ship of there choice in high sec space. For a scummy alliance like the goons to decide that they can no longer do that is imoral, against the spirit of the game and sucks. For CCP to allow it is most frustrating. People thinking of joining eve may will read about this kind of **** in the game forums. Many will leave and spread the word. I used to think Bob were bad guys, but they never stooped this low. Allowing these terrorists to dictate CCP policy is showing me the real power behind the game and it is obviously not the people but the will and want of a few corps. It sorely reminds me of the situation with the GMÆs and BoB where they were using there powers to give an unfair advantage to BoB. It appears to me, GS is the new BoB. What they have declared publicly is a greafing of highsec people. They are clearly ôtargeting a select group of peopleö with the intent to force them to move into lowersec space by hindering their enjoyment of the game due to their own want. This is clearly against the EULA of the game. I myself will not hesitate at the first time I am ganked in highsec by GS to liquidate all of my assets and hire as many merc corps as possible to wardec every one in the GS. And yes I do have a substantial amount. Once all the isk is used up I will then quit the game and cancel my 3 accounts (yes I 3box) and I will encourage all the highsec corps and individuals to do the same. We as highsecers make up the majority of the financial assets of CCP as well as the in-game isk. If enough of the highsec people were to just quit the game it will put a financial burden on CCP and possibly force them to change their policies or close the game down all together. In addition I will also be writing an article to all the PC and MMO magazines and web reviews about eve and the true workings of it and why in my own opinion not a game for others to play. But I will wait to see if CCP continues to support this action or decides to enforce their own policies or if I get GS ganked. Which ever comes first.

CCP needs to stop this madness NOW... Or else find themselves on the Drudge Report for all the WRONG reasons. There are a LOT of people who play this game who are military or ex military who have served in the war. I can imagine that if they read this they will be offended. It'd really be sad for the recent gains of EVE to be harmed or reversed because some forum mod/news poster woke up this morning and took a stupid pill. What Goonswarm is doing is perfectly legal by the game mechanics, true. But HOW they are advertising it, and CCP themselves in glorifying it are in violation of their OWN rules. There are things you just don't make light of, and this is one of them.

For all these "zomfg EVE will lose subscribers"...for every whiner that leaves, another person who is intrigued by the open-nature of EVE (No magical shields protecting you from attack) will join. The same can be said for sitting there for hours mindlessly camping a gate or station, now could it?
