A word about Slavers:

We have struggled since the beginning on the issue of how to best handle the slavers we rescue from deathcans together with slaves they are smuggling. We have sought clarity about the penalties exacted on slavers who are caught in this act of smuggling. Opinion varies but there seems to be a strong suggestion that execution and generational slavery are on the table. A firm principle that we always abide by is that we will never hand anyone over for execution or to generational slavery. Slavers know that it is a strong deterrent to other would be smugglers to see another's whole family punished in reprisal for their crimes. Many of the Slavers we rescue are very fearful of being handed over to those who would mete out such penalties. We have attempted to contact both Concord authorities and the SOE regarding slavers. We have not received a response, so in the mean time we provide humane conditions and protection from execution and generational slavery.

Now to administrative issues and a request for advice. We are looking for lower tax infrastructure options for supplying our Matriculation centers. While we are not in a desperate situation, we want to use our resources wisely. In particular, we are looking for high security water producing planets with the lowest tax rates. Any input on this would be appreciated. We would like to pull up stakes in some of our current locations and rebuild elsewhere.

I arrived on the scene too late; too late to help the poor people in the first deathcan. Nauplius' hench-girl Calyce lo arrived first and nabbed the survivors from the first can. We managed to rescue 3 slavers from the second can. If is a sad thought that we were only seconds too late and those we missed have been intentionally infected with a disease (vitoxin), bound and shackled and hurt all in the name of religion. The slavers we rescued will be treated well, they are fed, clothed, looked after medically and not roughly treated. We don't do this in the name of a deity just in the name of common decency.

The Disciples of Ston have christened the DSS Plowshare and deployed it alongside the DSS Assist both under the command of Captain Tahrmal Nalthkh. There is minor fitting yet to be done on it and then it will be ready for service. The Plowshare will be equipped for confiscation as well as rescue work

Also to report: Tahrmal Nalthkh arrived from Ealur today with donated supplies including medicine, food, and newly hired staff including a group of scientist to help with the technical training of Matriculants. We have also hired a group of Freed Slaves to help with the growing Matriculant population here in Kaap.
