Once again I will post this for those of you getting the data corruption issue while trying to repair or update the software so that you are able to possibly get the game to work since CCP refuses to announce they botched in a big way.
Cause: CCP has decided to use a protocol that uses a UDP packet stream and has zero error correction while streaming the traffic to the end users. The problem is not with the UDP stream itself, it's with anything that does protocol filtering such as your router in the case it's doing SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) filtering or many firewalls which do protocol filtering.
Cure: You must disable in your router the SPI Filtering if it's enabled. If you use ESET / NOD32 you must go into the advanced options and add exceptions for Launcher.exe, repair.exe, and the eve.eve file as well.
CCP is telling people to reboot and jump through hoops and all sorts of silly things. This isn't an issue you can resolve by rebooting it if you're geting those errrors. So try using the suggestions. |

I have to reboot at this stage.
Running the repair.exe tool does NOT work either: it freezes up at (3/7), and i again lose all network connection. Rebooting is the only way out.
I run a solid dual core win XP (sp3), with a very recent NVIDIA geforce graphics card. RAM a-plenty.
This seems to have been resolved, and the launcher window is now properly displayed after running the (bigger) patch.
At about 15% download in the launcher window, it freezes. I lose all network connections, and the only way out is terminating the launcher. Network connection is restored after this. Re-running the launcher just gets the same results.
Hope this helps. I'm having the Exact same problem was on 15% for over a hour. I was able to get on yesterday for a little while and today another patch that CCP knows won't work because the patcher does not work right. I also have the same basic PC setup.
Same problem, Same setup. |

This just isn't true. We're using HTTP range requests and rsync over HTTP.

This however is true and we urge those who are running into problems with ESET NOD32 to contact customer support and ask them to release an update to the software.

This workaround which was posted early morning on the 14th was to resolve various other issues people were experiencing and many have reported that this worked for them. Data corruption which is what a lot of people are reporting now can be the result of firewalls and non functioning routers and other causes which we are still investigating. We're very much trying to help people getting this issue and getting to the bottom of the problems they are experiencing.

So let me get this straight....
I used to click the Eve Icon on my desktop and it started the Eve client and took me to the login. I would then login and select my character that I wanted to play with that particular day...
Now, I click the Eve Icon on my desktop and it starts Eve Launcher, which I then have to click to play Eve, which starts Eve client and takes me to the login. I login and select my character to play with.
Right now I am thinking wtf? You have just added another step to the whole startup process. What is the point. Is there any way I can bypass this and just start Eve client directly? Seems like a waste of time. |

Multiple clients do not work correctly anymore. I have been running 2 client instances for the past 2 years with no problems. Now all of a sudden when I run 2 clients, they will often drop down to 1 fps or even 1/2 fps.
Here are the details: If I start one client, get a toon into the game, then start the second, both clients start out working ok. HOWEVER, if I open the FITTING WINDOW on one of them, the fitting window takes 10-15 seconds to load and both clients drop to 1 fps or worse. Sometimes closing the fitting window fixes the problem, but not always. Exiting one of the clients and starting it again is often required.
I also get the slow-down problem if I start the second client up before the first one has completed entering the game.
I would not be surprised if other events can cause the slowdown effect too. I'm afraid to take my toons into PVP with the client hosed up like this, because if this happens in combat I'll be dead before my screen refreshes.
Absolutely nothing on my computer has changed, so its configuration is irrelevant. Running 2 clients simultaneously worked smooth as silk before the 1.5 patch, and now it is broken. This has a HUGE impact on my play and frankly if this issue gets swept under the rug I will have to seriously reconsider whether EVE is worth the time and effort. Nothing was added in 1.5 that's worth losing multi-client for.
For me, smooth multi-client operation is not a nicety -- it is a REQUIREMENT.
I'm running Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium on a decent gaming tower (64 bit, 8GB ram, 1.5TB hard drive, 2.8 GHz quadcore Intel i7, ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series video card with 1GB RAM, running 1920x1200x60Hz resolution).

Launcher failed to update my client with the newest patch. Here's a trace: http://pastebin.com/w3KuAwgu
Edit #2: Oh, to avoid having to scroll through all that, it's a "file already in use" error: WindowsError(32, 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process') and the file in question bin\\debug.log)
I'll restart and see what happens.
Edit #1: Just restarting the launcher and it says my client is up to date, whatd'ya know. |

Get home from work early... CHECK Want to play EVE which finally worked again last night... CHECK Run EVE... CHECK Oh? New update patch again? Installing... CHECK
And now we're back at square one again. The client is AGAIN broken, with the same problems we had in the first 1.5 patch.
I don't think my other buddy is very happy either, seeing as his corp's POS are coming out of reinforcement and half of their defense fleet can't get online... :P |

Love how they didn't credit the workaround finder, and also how they blamed ESET when every legit program isn't affected by SPI |

Ok so I've disabled ESET entirely (system now unprotected, thanks CCP) but the exact problems that affected us over the past two days are still happening, so the issue is no longer with ESET but with something else.
I've given up speaking to CCP. I sent a complaint via email which has so far been ignored. All their devs have done in this thread is tell people to reboot, it literally is a joke - we have a show in the UK called The IT Crowd which satirizes this exact thing. Is there any member of the EVE community who can figure this out? This problem was solved by an EVE player last time so I'm assuming it'll be solved by another EVE player this time. Apparently EVE is now all about CCP devs breaking the game that the EVE playerbase has to solve. |

Screw that, how about actually improving the game instead of changing module/ammo/item names around and making a pretty launcher that just adds an unnecessary step to getting into the game (and also breaks it).
A work analogy would be the idiot who insists on making the spreadsheet "pretty" with lots of colour and formatting, but fails to actually have it correctly calculate or transform anything. |

It's patched fine on my laptop, Windows 7 Home Premium x64 which has ESET NOD32 running (same as my pc). Again my belief is the issue is with Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Can't be anything to do with the router because the laptop is going through the same one. |

Ok guys I've managed to do my own work around and got in.
Basically whatever launcher.exe tried to do it managed to break itself and the game with it. Did you guys keep a copy of the launcher folder? If not I'm uploading a copy of mine now for you to download.
Do this:
1) Disable ESET entirely. You may need to reboot. Close it down completely out of your task manager. 2) Copy across the launcher backup folder and replace all files. 3) Run launcher without running repair.exe (wtf is the point with this file anyway)
Hold on while I upload my launcher file as a zip in case you don't have it backed up. |
