Im experiencing the same problem with lag and diconnects, people I ask are doing fine playing.
I've migrated from Tiscali to demon internet paying more and seen what a bad connection looks like through ping plotter the first time round.
My connection has been working fine upto QR where it all fell to pieces, I know of one person who had the problem a week before myself.
Im annoied as its an obvious issue effecting hundred of players but with no acknowledgement from CCP, even the known issues page.
This leeds me to belive its not there problem, perhapse a server is packetshaping the data and removing torrents/game information???
Either way its like being blacklisted after waiting, playing and paying for a game over years just having no solace in an answer

It would be good to have a page dedicated to results and determining faults, as it is I have ping plotter and I think it shows low ping and no packet loss but perhapse im missing something, im pretty competant and can diagnose most faults myself with a little guidance.

Edited by: Calistro on 02/01/2009 18:13:14 Hello great CCP!
Thought I would add my 2 pence worth. My ISP is BT ( British Telecom ) and since returning to the game a few days ago, I have been getting the same message as others ( socket closed ) I am UK based and have never had issues with EVE before.
I have today closed 2 accounts, leaving me with just this one, I am hoping that CCP gets its head out of the sand, and address a fault that is of there own making.
And with the credit crunch apon us CCP, it may be worth noting to your fat cats!! Look after the customers you have, cos you aint going to get any new ones for a while!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Move along, nothing more to see

I should post this here too found that my ISP Demon internet has 'interleaving' active on my account that causes these problems packet shapeing game information, if all goes well it should work.

Hi, I am having the same problem for a couple of weeks now, after I get kicked all I can do is logoff and log back in, that always works. But its annoying when your in the middle of a mission or anything, and its not my ISP, other online games and the internet are working fine.

getting disconnects when hanging idle in station, now for almost a 2 months. usually i get disconnect error, but sometimes socket closed. its annoying to not be able to hang around in station and check the market or sorting out a hangar without getting booted every time.
im in the netherlands , ISP is XS4all, and with no other progam / online game i have trouble, just eve. damn shame if you ask me

I'm having the same trouble, disconnects every 5-10 mins, sometimes a socket closed error. I submitted a bug report, and got a request to submit the Pingplotter + Logserver files also metioned in this thread. Since I want this problem fixed, I thought I'd give them the data. So I turned on Logserver and Pingplotter, waiting the 15 mins before logging in, then proceeded to try to fly a simple mission until I got DCed. Much to my surprise, 30 mins passed, no disconnection. Left the client running, went and ate some dinner figuring when I came back I'd be booted, but I was still online. So I thought maybe it was just dumb luck, so I waited a few hours and tried again. I logged in about an hour ago WITHOUT running Pingplotter and Logserver, and within 5 mins, disconnection. So I quit the game, ran pingplotter and logserver, waited 15 mins, logged in, and here as I type I'm logged in and been playing fine for almost 30 mins.
Anyone else seen this behavior? Or maybe I've found a temporary fix for some? In any case I'm going to send them the data without me being disconnected because I am seeing packet loss towards CCP's end on Pingplotter and maybe it will help them resolve this issue.

Encountered this random disconnect when ever I went through jump gates or accelerator gates within missions. It started happening right after Quatum Rise was released also. I then remembered right after that release I had set my cache size to low, I am running with premium graphics off. The random disconnect was occurring pretty much every day for a while for me.
A four days ago I set the cache to None. The random disconnects have stopped and have not appeared since. I cannot say the cache was the problem. But I will follow up if it reappears again with cache set to none. |

Lost a Paladin to this today. DCed mid mission, tried relogging, disconnected again after e-warping, tried logging on again but didn't work. My alt got signed on right away though.
My main failed at logging on one more time then made it online in a pod. Sigh.
Also, corp mates have been having major issues tonight due to this. |

It took me over 30 logins just to dock my ship last night on the 7th jan, i was getting socket closed every 20 seconds within logging on it was totally frustrating. I started a mission at around 8pm and at 10.30pm i had to dock up unfinished after so many disconnects.
Impossible to play the game at the moment. |

Been just training and not playing for a few months, then tonight decided to start playing once more and I keep getting dc'd either whilst in a station or when changing session at a jump gate most annoying. From what I've read in this post it's seems that there's been no official response to it, or am I wrong there?
The game for me in my opinion is just not playable atm, so looks like I'll be taking a long break from the game.

Might as well add myself to this pile. I just started playing again after a 4 year downtime. Very first login on a fresh installation - disconnect after 5 minutes. Ever since then, i've been disconnecting every 5-10 minutes. The game is completely unplayable, and as of yet i'm not planning on extending my subscription. And to think how eager i was to get back to Eve :( |

I use to be dropped every 5 minutes. Running Vista. I ran Pingplotter in the background to Eve. About every 5 to 10 minutes I get a spike and a packet lose of up to 30%, but with Pingplotter running I have not disconnected in over 10 hours now. It is possible that Pingplotter is keeping the connection to Eve open and not having Windows kick the connection when it gets a spike. Just a thought.

this started for me about two weeks ago...random disconnects that got progressively worse..finally petioned it and then found this thread...seems 14 pages of thread isnt quite enough to make ccp listen to its clients...
Note to all subscribers...this game works.....sometimes |
