Hi again,
Somme news : - the problem seems to occur at peak times, like said above... Really embarassing when you have your drones out, I even have to use TI instead of TII ones, because I lost them every day. - However, I only was disconnected 2/3 times the last 2 days, it s quite a miracle for me... That only prooves that the issue is randomly appearing... It will be more complicated to fix.
Let s keep this post up, CCP must fix that.

Does anyone noticed the forum also lag as with the game itself? atleast thats for me. keep having to refresh so much just to load a page.
i wont blame my isp too much. all other website is fine. even my brother's web voice enabled game is fine.

Same problem here. 1 client runnig just fine and suddenly ive lost connection. Happens everywhere in combat, in station docked, just chatting in corp chat. My other comp who is also connected to the same router has had no disconnections at all( mind u this one is NOT running EVE, just msn, skype and the sorts..) this seems to completely random and cache size DOES NOT matter. Have tried reistalling, clearing the cache the works and i still get DC'd as often as every 5 minutes. This is getting ridicoulous. I cant play the game im paying for. So please CCP, try and sort this out

Originally by: Spriggen Ma'for Hi there,
It is sad foryou to have this trouble in the beginning of the game... I will simply quit because it is so boring to be disconnected every X minutes...
It happens since August... never had troubles before... CCP is just ignoring the fact. really dissapointed.
I'm trying the cache cleaning atm... will send some feedback. I ve tried the multiple chat windows.. it appeared to work sometimes.. but today it just started again.
I am disconnected at every moment of the day.. not only at peak times... It is really curious. Obviously it only happens on my laptop (wireless)... but we will see in the next few days.
i will also try the port 26000 thing...
My problem exactly. The dc's are so bad I can't play during the evenings, after work. If this isn't solved guess what will happen to my six accounts once their time runs out? I love EVE, it's the best MMO I have ever played but the problem is definitely with the EVE server or their ISP.
Initially I thought it was the internet connection in Europe but I have realised it's not as I play and have played lots of other games and none of them portray this problem. These include WoW, KO, COD 4, Lineage 2, MU Online and others I could get a trial for just to test this.
I have said this before and I will say this again. This is utterly ridiculous. Either the ISP(s) CCP use need shooting in the feet and then dropping in Siberia or the EVE dev's/programmers. Farjung is my God |

Edited by: PrimalFear on 14/09/2008 16:33:10 Same here, the problem does seems to occur more often during peak times which is sad I dunno what CCP did but this probem never happened till the later stages of trinity and I've been playing this game for 5 years, this problem has been an on going thing for the past 6 to 7 months for me. CCP has never given ny updates on the situation of the probme other then say "use ping plotter and send us the results" and no technical support, I've seen this thread A LOT with hardly any responce from CCP just makes me wonder sometimes.

Right now I can't stay connected for more than a couple of minutes. Have tried logging in 20 times or so and its always the same - works for a 2-3 minutes then connection lost.
ADSL modem link is stable - no error seconds, no reconnects.

Hey folks! Am currently <trying> to play right now...
I notticed that the disconnections are correlated to the amount of players online...rght now, 38'000 players are playing, compared to earlier (29k) and I am having more and more disconnections...
I also notticed that I am getting 'attacked' to my firewall by the adress "70.42.62.80". Anybody knows this IP?
Anyhow, I hate to have to relog every 3 minutes...makes mining barely playable...and we won't talk about combat or something else...

to those with idle/disconnect problems: I believe i found and resolved my issue
I had at some point in history set my router to a 60 second TCP/UDP timeout period. this was done with the hopes of helping out P2P software and keeping the router clean. Apparently though, Eve doesnt like that. I upped my timeout to 20 minutes and I havent been idle disconnected yet.
I am using a WRT54GL with DD-WRT release 22 (i think).
I hope this helps someone!

Heya buddy! I am using a WRT54G and I did not find the settings that you are talking about. I would like to know if my model has those options, or if you could explain 'where' to find and attune those settings.
Thanks in advance!
I hope we resolve this issue!

its not in the stock firmwares, i use a hacked bios for my WRT54GL. it gives me that option (and a crapton others)
another note for everyone: i had opened a trouble ticket for this issue and it was recently closed. here's the final entry:
Quote: This problem has already been fixed on internal CCP test servers. When this fix will reach Tranquility is dependant on whether it can be hotfixed, or requires a larger patch.Your bugreport has been filtered.
soooooooooooooo...i dont think people need to do anything and this will fix itself. lol. my guess is as good as yours as to when it happens :P maybe tomorrow's extended downtime? *shrug*

Hey folks! I got some news!!! I uninstalled the game, and reinstalled it with only the classice graphics!
Guess what!? EVEN MORE disconnections! And only 23k players online!
WOOT!
I hate this disconnection thing...CCP, please do something...
p.s.: Yes, reinstalling 'classic to premium' update reduced the amount of disconnections...

While this may work it's not viable for people who run more than two clients as Premium will lag the PC to death. Farjung is my God |

Sigh, im also getting this problem. Dcs can vary from 1 every 3-4 hours to one ever 10 minutes. It's very annoying if it occurs, especially if i am for example in a fleet or in the middle of some pvp.

Some news again:
- Discos appeared less often the last days... however, they happened. - I hope CCP will fix the issue today, on extended downtime... But it s good to know they are working on it.
Wait and see...

So, maybe this isnt the icelandic way but how hard could it be to make a button to do all of this for us???? i.e. gathering user settings and whatnot. Seems rather dumb that we dont have one and have to come to the ghetto forums to report this type of stuff....... And yet re-post and re-phrase questions until CCP understands what were saying.
^ this has been a bit of a rant, but god damnit CCP I pay you for you to work, not me.

Hey again angry disconnecting people!
I made a lapsus clavis today! I wrote EVE Offline! I wonder why that is!?
Anyways, it's been a few days now that I am running WinMTR (16 bytes per ping, one ping every 6 seconds) while enjoying the disconnecting game and I've come to recognize that the WORST ISP in all the list is the one right before the EVE Server.
So, I would suggest CCP to investigate that issue...or any other issue, as long as it resolves this disconnecting problem.
I know a huge player base but I did not talk to them yet about EVE Offline (Oh! Here I go again!) because of the lack of connectivity and custommer service related to it.
As soon as it's resolved, I guess I can pull out my WoW, WAR, AoC and LotRO players out of their games and form huge fleets! Can't wait for this to happen!
Hey, I've just realised now that it's been more than 2 weeks since this post is active, and no one that we know of as laid down some kind of acknowledgement that this issue is looked into, or at least known to CCP.
Hmm!

are you blind???
I posted that
a) CCP acknowledged the bug b) CCP will install the fix for the bug as soon as they determine it to be a roll out or downtime implementation.
that came straight from their bug team.

Some of these discos, especially those that happen when you arent doing anything, might be cause by timeouts on your internet routers and firewalls. I recommend searching for the correct method to turn on tcp keepalives for your OS. This will make the O/S send a packet every given amount of time on each socket connection to validate it's still there. This packet activity will prevent your firewall/router from dropping the socket. Easy way to achieve the same thing, open the help channel...

By that logic: that would mean that everyone here, who are all on different ips, in different countries, with different routers, have all just suddenly started to turn themselves off during peak time right after ccp release a patch..? ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

i tried 2 methods that solved my problem. two settings were tweaked in my DSL router which solved the problem where the ping to www.eve-online.com become more stable.
1. off firewall in my router (reduced loss packet to 3%)
or...
2. tweak MTU setting in my router to 1302 (used to be 1492) by following how to estimate best MTU in this link - http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks/MTU . The targeted ping test is to www.eve-online.com and seems '1302' worked best for my router and location.
This reduced my loss packet to 7% (used to be 50% loss recently) for eve. I continue to use this setting as I can enable my router's firewall, and there's no DC problem. Not sure if it will help the rest of you.

Thanks buddy!
But, it seems like a setting of 1500 bytes for me is allright, since I do not use the 'Packets need to be fragmented' message.
I hope this issue is resolved shortly...

Hi all,
I believe I have found a solution, at least for my disconnects. Since making the change, I've yet to have a disconnect and I normally have several a night.
I changed a few options on my network card driver. I turned off the card offloading options, for me they were Large Send Offload (IPv4), TCP Checksum Offload (IPv4) and UDP Checksum Offload (IPv4). This can be done in Device manager - just bring up your card and go to the advanced tab - it will obviously be different for other cards. Make the changes and restart Windows. Make a note of what the values are in case you want to change them back afterwards if it doesn't work.
For me (so far) it seems to be working. Let me know if it fixes it for you! Good luck!

Just to add my name to the list. For a week now, between 7 pm (UK) and 10 pm (high server density mostly) I dc every 30 secs to 3 mins.
Before this week I had very rare dcs, and even now if I play from 3 pm when I get home I know I will have at most 1 dc before 7 pm. 8.30 to 9.30 is the worst time and I basicly spend that time logging in, dcing, logging in, dcing...etc, while trying to sell up my salvage and reset training before I give up and quit.
Been blaming my ISP uptil now, but testing out on other games and reading this post has convinced me its the game :( If it doesnt sort itself out soon I guess I have to take another year out, which sucks!

Originally by: timbitz Edited by: timbitz on 13/07/2008 12:07:11 About 2-3 days ago, my Eve clients have started randomly disconnecting. It happens anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour or so. If I don't select "log off" myself, it will eventually, after a couple of minutes, drop me down to the log-in screen. If I'm running multiple clients, they all disconnect at the same time. However, each time, I am able to immediately log right back in with no delays. The game doesn't crash, it's just a disconnection. Any other online games work fine, it's just Eve. Any suggestions?
-edit- edited to add that lag is not an issue. Eve will be running fine, at normal speed, when it simply disconnects.
Well man get used to it, its been an ongoing problem for me for the past 6 to 7 month with no resolve. Its like they don't care no matter how much they say "we are looking into the problem" apparently not or else it would of been fixed! This lack of "fixing" is really producing a lot of hatred for this game the longer it dosen't get fixed and this game was released when? Oh yeah 2003 problems like this shouldn't exist.
