This is your problem. Have you tried to play other MMO's or online games? If not try one that is either free or a trial because this to me seems to be your ISP being the problem. |

Been having the same problem for weeks now. I run multiple accounts at the same time and it can happen to an individual one or all at the same time. Tracert seems to say there is alot of time lag in the European hops.

As I wrote in the post about my disconnection problems above, CCP support claim that trace results like (taken from the 2nd location I mentioned):

indicate a problem with my isp, due to the significant packetloss in a few hops along the way. Other sources, however, say that there are a variety of reasons why routers would drop icmp packets, and that as long as the results from the destination are ok (as we can see here) then there's no need to be concerned.
So, two days ago I was playing at the 1st location and pinged the server before starting eve, and noticed I had an unusually bad connection (400ms ping and 5% packetloss to the eve server). Instead of reconnecting to my isp, which usually solves this kind of problems, I decided to try to play anyway. Surprisingly, I was able to play for perhaps over two hours before I got disconnected, and the game was responsive enough to tank a 7/10 plex with an ishtar.
I had a trace running the whole time I was playing. When I finally got disconnected, the trace showed the same "bad" statistics throught all the time I was playing, with no special event at the time I was disconnected. Also, I had eve voice on in fleet. As I felt that the client stopped receiving game data, eve voice still worked and my fleet mates reported that I dropped out of local.
Now when I tried to reconnected, I was disconnected within the first 1-2 minutes of logging in. This happened over and over again. I restarted my PC, router, dsl modem (which also "fixed" the connection back to 120ms ping and no packetloss to the eve server) and it still happened, repeatedly.
It sounds to me like a software issue on the server side.

LIES, it's your ISP and I will spam this until you finally understand I am right and you are wrong. I don't care about evidence because I don't need to, as long as I get paid. |

o nice... now here's another thing... so what if another port is not supported... if it might work GREAT. Now the only place I can find a port specified is in the start.ini NOT prefs.ini AND eveoffline throws an error if you attempt to change the port in that file, not allowing you to continue, the only thing to do is change the port back to 26000. Good times *bow *wave* yes you all can have my 45 Billion wallet *lolz* IF I could ever regain a connection to send it. Good Game

I am also havin the same issue, the game does not crash but just simply disconnects. It then allows me 2 reconnect straight away, this is causing much inconvience.

I am saddened to report that this problem is not network card related (although I had a strong feeling it was not going to work anyways.) Got a linksys card to replace my realtek on-board but the problem is still occurring.
8 pages and going strong... hmm, funny CCP only responded to a few posts on here. It's almost like they are covering their ears and screaming "LALALALALA, I SEE NO PROBLEM HERE!!!!."

Have any of you petitioned CCP demanding they fix this or am I the only one? They closed my petition and I am going to reopen it asking when it will this problem will be fixed. Don't just spam this forum, spam CCP as well. Farjung is my God |

Edited by: StuckToon on 11/10/2008 15:59:59 FIXED. Netgear wgr61v9 router. Searches for firmware update, nothing new found. OK... ISP said to update it. Owell download and forced the same version firmware. Something must have been hoarked.
Edit: thing I don't get is I couldn't connect even bypassing it earlier, could have been a compound problem something else was fixed along the way.

I am glad your problem has been solved. I disabled my onboard network chips and am running on a D-Link PCI card and no changes. Farjung is my God

Heh, I speak too soon. Must have been just one lucky connection for 3 minutes. It is back to resetting the modem even without the router.

Edited by: Siuse on 11/10/2008 17:38:56 I dont know about you guys. Router MTU resetting seems to work for me for the pass few months. but the tedious effort to tweak mtu everytime having issues are really trouble and lossing play time for me. cant mission at all.
another method which i'm 'trying' lately is changing my ADSL encapsulation to PPOA-VC.
Well, not sure how long will it hold - i start to notice my line's speed to UK are abit bad compare to smooth traffic to US side.
and.... ping stat SOMETIMES dont reflect the game disconnection issue. i got 50% packet losses but no disconnection for 3 hours.

Been there, done that, sent CCP a hand-illustrated comic outlining our troubles. Took them 9 months to respond and finally release the Sovereignty skill. Alas, threadnaughting is not a way to get the problem fixed.
The bug report I sent on this issue is yet to be classified, too. :( |

Edited by: Hya Bam on 12/10/2008 04:04:09 I've been having this problem, too. After some experimenting, I discovered (via an annoyed sibling) that our modem/router was disconnecting, then reconnecting. Ah, hardware glitch, you might say. BUT, it only happens with EVE running. Other multiplayer online games work fine, as does streaming and downloading.
Last night it got so bad that I couldn't stay logged in for more than five minutes. In a fit of desperation, I restored the router to factory default settings, and re-installed the firmware update for it. I was then able to stay logged in for the next 2 hours without a logoff. Don't know how long it will stay like that though. --- "All your boot.ini are belong to us." -CCP |

Then we need a new course of action. I am asking for CCP to disable my accounts as they're not interested in solving the problem. If they don't I will start sending letters of complaing in an attempt to force CCP to do something. If you are a member of SA (as I believe all Goons are) then maybe we can organise something that way. I am in no mood to let CCP get away with 10 months of game time. Farjung is my God

Fear not my friend. The next expansion is about to be released, complete with new bugs and, hopefully, less people able to play. I don't know whether your problem is hardware or software (server/client) related but that is odd. However it is possible there is a code in the software that automatically switches your modem off. First rule of capitalism is not get paid and provide service but not provide it and still get paid. Then you can fool more and more people into paying you without you providing anything (Apple/Itunes and Ebay/Paypal for example). Farjung is my God

I too am experiencing the random disconnects. The disconnects usually occur when changing sessions, logging out of one character and into another using the "Log Off" button, and when interacting with the market. This problem was more prone to happen in systems with a lot of lag. The disconnects started with the release and installation of the 1.1.2 patch. However, I believe I have found the cause of my issue.
Disabling my firewall (Zone Alarm) and using windows firewall 'fixed' the issue I was having. I ran just windows firewall for a few days and I had no disconnects.
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Zone Alarm. I am going to monitor this for a few days and see if this resolves the issue for me or not.

Zone Alarm is a pretty bad firewall. It doesn't do much unfortunately, it's nearly as good as Windows firewall. Farjung is my God
