EVE-MEEP Version 2 The Eve-Online Multiuse Economic Efficiency Planner
Visit the Website at www.eve-meep.com Latest News at http://www.eve-meep.com/news Source can be found at https://sourceforge.net/projects/evemeep/
Requires the .Net Framework 2.0 to run Current Version: 2.4.2.0
Eve-MEEP is the host for a variety of calculators focused on improving productivity and profit in Eve. These calculators are able to take advantage of data accumulated by the host to help with everything from production to mining to trade.
For documentation on how to use EVE-MEEP, Check this out
API Functions The Eve-API is a way for third party applications and websites to get data from the game automatically. Eve-MEEP takes advantage of this by automatically loading and updating character sheets, wallet transactions, wallet journal entries, assets, and more. By accumulating this data, Eve-MEEP provides you with an unprecedented amount of current and historical data relating to your in-game activities. More about the Eve-API and how to use it can be found Here. Eve-MEEP requires the full API key to have access to transactions and journal information, but it can be run on limited access or no key at all.
Inventory Utilizing the Assets API, Eve-MEEP tracks all of your assets. Never lose another item or wonder what your inventory is again. Updated to be fully accurate every 24 hours, it is kept accurate by transaction info and market orders. Never manually update blueprint ME or PE levels again, as Eve-MEEP can track those numbers when you use the blueprints.
Pricing The most important piece of profit and efficiency calculations is accurate price information. To this end, Eve-MEEP tracks several different pieces of data: The amount of isk you pay for each item when you buy them in game, Market orders when you load your current orders or a market log, and several different websites such as eve-central and the Matari Mineral Index. By tracking prices by region, calculations or trade can be tailored to individual markets.
Plug-ins/Updates All downloading of plug-ins, data files, new versions, etc. will be done through the Eve-MEEP updater. Found in the menu under "Help->Check For Updates", it makes sure everything is up-to-date. Anything that you are missing or is outdated will be available to download through the application.
Bug Reporting Please don't just say, "The application crashed!". I need to know what you were doing when it crashed (exact numbers please) so I can reproduce it myself. There is now a folder called Logs in with the application. This folder will contain all the bug reports that the application generates. When you have a problem, or a crash, check the file for that day. If it says ANYTHING about errors, I need to know that information. You can e-mail it to me, or copy/paste about the first half of the error here. ------

Edited by: Salvis Tallan on 24/09/2007 21:41:52 Plugins Once again, the only plug-ins you can use for this version are the ones available through the updater. More will be added as they are created/rewritten. If you would like to write one yourself, its quite easy! Just check out the source from sourceforge and go for it. What do you gain from writing a plug-in as opposed to writing your own app? Quick and easy disrubution, no need to write your own framework or data handling, and easy access to all the stored data you could need!
Currently Available Plug-ins Multicomponent Calculator - Production of all items Invention - Calculate the cost of inventing a blueprint, the success chance, and the cost per run POS Calculator - Find the cost of running a pos, save the set-up, and soon even track fuel status with another API Reprocessing - Find out what items reprocess into, and which way will make you more money. Also works for hauling and which has less volume. Efficiency Calculator: Determine the waste and efficiency of different levels of Material Research ------

Thank you very much for this update and for the extremely useful application in general.
The exceptions the update from previous versions throws seems to stop the update process. I have Error written next to the main app and plugin interface, and then it stops, nothing happens for some 10 minutes. Reopening starts from scratch.
Will downloading the whole app from website overwrite my settings etc?

There may be some people who will get this error, because I am attempting to change the way eve-meep updates itself while attempting to maintain backwards compatibility . There was a brief window where things were not working quite right, but I think its fixed.
You can safely download from the website with no worries, just overwrite the old files. Make sure to get the main program, interface, and the data files (under resources, these files are also new for this version, so you cant use the old ones). You might also have to re-open your profile when it loads (File>Load Profile), but no data will be lost. ------

So if <Finances> is not on the auto-update list, the tab is without function in the app atm?
I am asking, because it does nothing to me - even when I hit <Force Download>
<Inventory> does not show anything too.

Everything will update on its own (full API info required for finances/assets). The API is very finicky in that it only allows 1 request per API per IP per cache time. If something goes wrong, it has to wait a full hour for finances or a full day for the assets before it can try again. My advice is to wait a bit and if there are still problems tomorrow, let me know. This issue tends to work itself out over an hour or two. ------

I think there is bug or extra cost for the T2 ship. The paladin required an apoc and all the mineral to build an apoc also. Can you check that

Proxy settings are still not working.
When I select user specified, I can't enter the proxy address or username.
Also, when I select System Default, it doesn't appear to work either (supposed to use IE settings maybe?)
Other than that, live the tool!

Same problem as 2.3.xx.. When you choose "No Proxy" and I.E. has a proxy setting in it, EVE-MEEP tries to use the proxy.

Excellent application there you have.
Just a few things I have noticed, so I guess this could be classified as a bug report of sorts.
In the 'inventory' tab. If you say browse for something (e.g. a mineral) and try to sort by either volume, or isk total. The columns seem to be sorted incorrectly.
I hope this helps.

Can you give me an example or screenshot? This was a problem with the previous version, but it was fixed and works (at least for me) now.
Gilgamoth: Yea, the code set the proxy and then checked for if it needed it or not, but last version and this version, other bugs are getting in the way so it never changes back. That behavior and the bugs have been fixed for the future. ------

Hi!
Even though its a great tool I still have problems with the pos add, which I cant get into the program its downloaded and all but the program will not see it.
Then my standard question about accurate prices last time I asked about arkonor which seems to work alright now, this time I did an update on hafnium prices but the price in my inventory doesnt update. Is this only updated when my inventory is loaded or when does that update? I also tried to change between different regions but the price in my inventory is the same.
and for the pos fuel calculator here is my error message (some parts in swedish though):

lo All, Just tried to update to latest version plugins (thru the updater), it says it has downloaded then, but will not load the following on restart
POSCalc.dll MultiComponentCalc.dll Invention.dll EfficiencyCalulator.dll Reprocessing.dll
The only plugin that is not displaying its the pos calc, the others show as needing to be updated, even after updating repeatedly (3 times) All the other plugins seem to be fine
I am guessing that ther is a glitch at my end, and may need to delete some / all files and reupdate / download
Great Program, still coming to grips with most of it tho, would be a graet help if someone who knew it really well to write a primer for us noobs and those otherwise challenged

Great tool. I love it. Got a bug report trying to save a POS layout. I just upgraded to the latest stuff (2.4.2.0).

I really hate that POS calc... It could be good if I put the effort in, but right now its just annoying. I will see what I can do about fixing it to function.
Arkimedies: Is the main program version 2.4.2.0? The most common problem with updating is that the app is unable to either move the old plugin to the backup folder, or unable to save the new plugin. Try removing all the plugins from the plugin folder and see if that works, otherwise you can go to the site and grab them manually. ------

Noticed another annoying bug. Often, my internet connection goes down. When EVE-MEEP tries to update with no connection, it faults and crashes. It would be much better if it handled the error and kept on chugging with 'stale' data. I can post the error next time it happens to me.

Official EA data has been released and the data files have been updated to reflect that. Along with the data is a small bug-fix release for things like proxy settings which I am hoping work now. Change log available here.
Those of you with the 2.4.2.0 client will be using the new method of getting updates. You shouldnt notice any difference, but if there are problems, please let me know ASAP. ------

I've found an bug in the Schedule. If the job is in a POS array and the POS goes offline, an additional parameter appears in the XML called pauseProductionTime. This parameter stays in effect until the POS comes back online and then the end time updates.
EVE-MEEP doesn't recognise the pauseProductionTime parameter and displays a job as finished if the current date/time is after the end time even if the job is paused due to an offline POS.
I really hope that makes sense to someone else besides me

Found what might be a crash bug related to updating.
I run evemeep on my laptop, via a wireless connection to the internet. It seems that if left running and the internet connection drops, the next time it attempts to update characters/assets/etc it crashes evemeep. I didn't think to copy down the crash details, I'll see if I can get a log for it.

There is an error in how it calculates fuel for the pos.
My corp currently has a medium amarr tower parked in 0.5 space, with 5 mobile labs attached. The program says that we need to feed the pos 10800 Loqiod ozone every month, while in reality, it eats 54000 units a month.
Otherwise a nice program though, comes in handy.

Is that according to actual consumption, or what the Manage screen shows?
The manage screen only shows the value for 100% cpu/powergrid utilization, it doesn't adjust based on your actual usage. With only 5 mobile labs, you won't be maxing the cpu/powergrid, so it won't actually use that much.

well. When i check the pos towers fuel consumption information, by right clicking it and choosing info, =n the actual tower, it says it needs 75 LO an hour.
That equates to 54000 every 30 days.
The program, when i set up a pos, with 5 labs attached, only says 10.800 is needed.
Am i completely misunderstood in the fact that what the pos says it wants, is right?

Most POS fuels are fixed consumption, but Liquid Ozone and Heavy Water vary depending on how much of the cpu/powergrid you are using. The POS only shows the amount for full utilization.
Just try it... put 10,800 of liquid ozone in it, then go to the Manage screen, and it will still say it has a 30d supply of it.

I am not sure I understand how the Finances / Orders screen is supposed to work.
It only shows data if the 'Closed Orders' button is selected - and the data it shows seems to be out of date.
If I want to see corporate orders that are currently running - how do I do that?
The EVE-Meep web site has a statement that says 'Market Orders: Away from eve while at work? Check your orders to see if your on top!' - however I don't see any way of checking the status of OTHER peoples orders - is that done through the 'Load New File' button.
Thanks again for a wonderful tool - the Invention function is a lifesaver!

I've had rather a lot of odd bugs when switching characters within a profile and when loading the science & industry job schedule. Most of these disappeared when I disabled the 'check for updates on startup' option.
Also, you might want to stop people downloading plugins when they already have the latest version, and add an option to remove them individually. Zzz research towers Direrie NEW: Liekuri

After further research, it seems the problem related to me crashing after running for about 10 secs was caused by barfed data in one of the industry.xml files. At least I've removed this and recreated it from downloaded api data and at present everything seems sweet. Now I just need to see what's missing and try to patch it back.
Just a sugestion - if a barfed data file is going to cause problems like this, could you include the option to specify the location the profile is saved to - in my case, if saved on my NAS these are backed up on every change. I did look in the xml code for a save path but never spotted one.

Hey Salvis,
just got the latest version of EVE-MEEP and noticed a problem with the invention calculator. Will only permit me to select T2 blueprints to invent from!!! Definitely is an issue since Scorch L's are invented from a 1500 run Ultraviolet L BPC (resulting Blueprint is wrong). Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if the invention Calculator was broke in this release...

I *generally* like the app, but have a few errors and a few requests.
1. All times appear to be in GMT. For example, on the orders tab of the FInances section the time label says "Last Uploaded 8/4/2008 11:51:39 AM". But my local time is 7:51 AM. When I look at times I would rather know when it was last updated in local time.
2. I guess that goes with Cache times as well. What I think would be helpful to me is to see when the system will update according to local time, not eve time. If it needs to show Eve time then please place Eve time in the status bar on the bottom (maybe the bottom right corner).
3. But when I see manufacturing and research jobs, I think I like that in Eve time. I know it's inconsistent!
4. I get the same error as someone else with the orders tab. When it updates occasionally I get the following error (this is the first part):
************** Exception Text ************** System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewRow.GetErrorText(Int32 rowIndex) at System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewRow.Paint(Graphics graphics, Rectangle clipBounds, Rectangle rowBounds, Int32 rowIndex, DataGridViewElementStates rowState, Boolean isFirstDisplayedRow, Boolean isLastVisibleRow) at System.Windows.Forms.DataGridView.PaintRows(Graphics g, Rectangle boundingRect, Rectangle clipRect, Boolean singleHorizontalBorderAdded) at System.Windows.Forms.DataGridView.PaintGrid(Graphics g, Rectangle gridBounds, Rectangle clipRect, Boolean singleVerticalBorderAdded, Boolean singleHorizontalBorderAdded) at System.Windows.Forms.DataGridView.OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.PaintWithErrorHandling(PaintEventArgs e, Int16 layer, Boolean disposeEventArgs) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmPaint(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.DataGridView.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
If I ignore it I see a red "X" drawn over the top window.
5. On the "Schedule" tab the information in the top details box is mostly cut off. If I click the "Hide Filters" button the text in that button is screwed up as well. Looks like the button needs to be slightly wider. The button text looks correct after you click on a blue-print. But before that it isn't.
6. Not sure if it is just me but I hate seeing 2 digits after the total volume (example is in Inventory window). If the volume is "13.00", can it just display "13"? I would rather only see the ".xx" if there is data there to be seen.
7. Occasionally when changing the order of columns on the "orders" part of the "Finances" tab I get an error saying "Unfrozen column can't be moved before a frozen column". It causes an "Unhandled exception error".
8. On the "Select Character" sectin on the left side of the screen we don't know when the data was last updated. That be nice to put on here (like "last updated 3 hours ago" or something similar).
9. Since several things occur int he backgroud, is there a log file kept of these actions?
I actually have a lot of other thoughts as well but I'll post them on SourceForge. I work on software requirements and design for a living and would love to work on a project like this for fun (yes, there *is* something wrong with me! )

Hi, great work, just tried it myself and found a bug in the inventory, it seams that is not sorting between BPO's and BPC's, all are set as BPO's, and I don't now if it is related but the ones that are copys just have 0 in ME field.

One other request. If the application barfs while parsing the XML data we are stuck waiting 24 hours (for assets) for it to work right. Maybe you could store the original XML file somewhere so that if the process doesn't work for some reason we can try to load it manually. Right now I can't see where it saves what is downloaded, only how you save it in your xml files post-processing.
Also if on the orders tab we 'load new file' and have duplicate rows becasue of it we can't delete the data (from inside the program). I could edit the XML file to get rid of what I don't want but a delete function would be nice if we can manually add stuff.

Maybe I'm stupid but that what I'm missing in all programs like this: simple calculator in which I can choose BP, program will then show what minerals i should have. Then I can specify the price for any of them. Next, the application will calculate total expenses (also with Manufacturing costs). With the expenses calculated I shouuld be able to specify what price I want for certain product, and the program should calculate eventual income. It is hard to make something like that? Or maybe it already exists?

The API doesn't differentiate between BPO's and BPC's so EVE-Meep can't make the distinction either.

That's what EVE-Meep does. On the MultiComponent tab, choose All Blueprint in the Select Blueprint Source drop down, then choose what you want to make.
You can then see how much it takes to make and if you put a sell price in, how much profit.

EveMeep faulted with the following:
failed:System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at EVEMEEPv2.WebInterface.HttpPost(String URI, String Parameters)
It would be best if EveMeep would keep running with it's current data set instead of faulting.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, and I am sorry for the delay in replying. I believe I have fixed the crash error when there is no internet connection (at least it doesn't crash on my laptop when the wireless is off and it tries to update). Thank you very much, I have been getting lots of data from many different users about this. This error is not so new with this version, but has gotten worse because I went and made a bunch of database columns not accept null values. Once I know for sure that I have fixed this error I will be pushing out another update. *edit* It can typically be fixed by deleting (make a back-up first!) the Industry.xml file in your character's folder. A drastic move I know, but if lets you run the program and get the data again. ------

Very nice and usefull utility =)
But it would be very usefull with an option to specify an alternative location for EVE-MEEP to get it's API data.
I've been using Eproxy (EVE API Caching Proxy) by Isidien Madcap: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=668372
It caches the API results so that you can use other programs that uses the same APIs, and don't have to worry about how often you request a particular API.

Originally by: Sov1et Maybe I'm stupid but that what I'm missing in all programs like this: simple calculator in which I can choose BP, program will then show what minerals i should have. Then I can specify the price for any of them. Next, the application will calculate total expenses (also with Manufacturing costs). With the expenses calculated I shouuld be able to specify what price I want for certain product, and the program should calculate eventual income. It is hard to make something like that? Or maybe it already exists?
Isn¦t that the Material Calc plugin ?

Hehe, and then we were kicked out. Really though, been finishing up some RL stuff and have been away from eve (long skills ftw). I have done a few bug fixes for some of the minor things, and might have fixed the S&I api errors. The data grid view error listed above I have not quite figured out yet, but I think it has to do with updating the data table from another thread while the grid tries to refresh. ------

having a bit of trouble with the automatic pricing. If one of the categories in the pricetype "BUY"(under preferences)do not contain a price either imported by me or from eve-central i do not get a price of the chosen item. does not matter if i have a price under the "sell" categories of said materials imported.
Is it me doing something terribly wrong here, or is it a bit buggy?

What format are the BDataF.dat, RDataF.dat and Tcon.dat encoded in? I would like to create a file with only the blueprints that are relevant to me. I've looked through the source code, but its been years since i've done any programming (visual studio 6.0 era). Do I need a .NET Framework 2.0 development software package to be able to look at these data files? What programs could I use to edit them? Thanks!

When I look at my inventory, the item prices are totally borked because it uses some default values and won't update to use the prices I've imported. How do I get it to work?
Do I need to find a market datadump in .xml format from somewhere?
Also, you're missing out on the coolest and most powerful feature ever. Unless I'm missing something, there's no simple way to list your inventory in the reprocessing plugin, or have it list a reprocessed mineral value column in the inventory listing. This way I wouldn't have to spend hours with my loot container, checking almost item-per-item what would fetch a much better price on the market than simply mulching it (I mulch equal value items simply because it's less a hassle and saves order slots). Maybe even allow for a preferences setting that it'll list item price with a different color when it's raw mineral value (with your skills) is X % of current median market price. |

Saatan Clause: Sell prices are kept seperate from buy prices. The app should use the eve database's default price when no other exists, but you can always import from eve-central.
EliteProspector: I replied to your email, the answer was longer than I wanted to write here.
Loraen: Read Here and Here for price info. Also, I will see what I can do to incorporate your reprocessing idea :) |

Those didn't help at all.. I mean, when I look at my inventory and I have a pile of tritanium at one location and despite having imported mineral prices it's still listing tritanium value at a round 2 isk. If I look at tritanium, the info says value is 2 isk and the prices tab gives the correct price info but how do I get it to use that instead of some arbitrary number?
ETA: Since the app already has the data on what minerals you get out of reprocessing, perhaps give item inventory a column for reprocess value. |

Hi
I'd love to use the programme but I can't generate a profile - the programme just refuses to load my API data - whilst it doesn't freeze it doesn't do anything else either!
When I try to get updates it will not connect to the internet - I get a long error message (see separate post).
Any ideas? I'm using Vista 64-bit - is it compatible with this version of the OS?
Thanks Zennar

thx for the great program, i use it to get my inventory into an excel file for building purpose. This saves me a lot of time.(I swear here and now that i will try to not fire a shot on you, when we meet in battle )
Is the force download button (update data) in the order tab the only way to get the inventory reloaded (24h cycle) ?
The speed of datagrid filling is a bit shiite, at least in the order grid, i have to wait and wait and wait til it is ready. may be i have too many orders/transactions.Perhaps you might try to make the grid visibility to false while loading the data.

Force Download is only for journal and transactions, because inventory is 24hrs and if you try to force it with lets say 12 hrs left, the timer resets (this is true for all APIs but the others are 1 hour vs 1 day).
Most of the errors and problems of the program come from the data grids. There is something with .net where I cannot update the data on a different thread and do some sort of read/write opperation (which makes sense, but it only happens when they are done in a particular sequence). Most of my development time lately has been rewriting the API layer to either avoid datagrids entirely or to fix the problem. ------

Yeah , i remember, there must be a delegation (or something like that), that transport the data from the working thread to the thread where the windowform is running, you cant directly talk with the grid , while u are not in the same thread.

The compounds do not exist in the data dump, so when I have it make the files they are not there.
Altaree: it seems like it failed to check for updates and spit out an error. It has nothing to do with what you were doing at the time, and if this keeps happening you can disable the auto updates. ------

There's a new data dump out, have you checked it? http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=890773&page=1#4

Hey, I've loved Eve Meep for a while, but after recently reinstalling it(real life circumstances demanded some damage to my eve utilities collection) I've experienced the following bug:
I cannot seem to save POS layouts, it seems that the program is sending the string of the name of the pos components to a variable that is expecting an int. The error dialog allows me to continue running the program(which works fine) or to quit. As all good bug reports must have, here's the error message, and the stack trace if you want more of the error log after the stack trace, I will gladly reproduce it and post it for you.
Error text:
Input string was not in a correct format. Couldn't store <Mobile Laboratory> in ItemID Column. Expected type is Int32.
Stack Trace:
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Is this application supported under Vista?
I have installed the application, and on startup, created a new profile, supplied it with my limited API, and it does nothing. I get no character specific data, not even my character names.
I checked with the API use page, and nothing has even tried to access my API.
Is there some sort of hidden function to force Eve Meep to at least try to access my character's API?

Finally managed to get an install. It might be a good idea to explain that "User ID" is assigned in the API page, and not something you choose for yourself. |

Need to include a hard lock feature to keep mineral values from changing when using the recycling screen.
I lost 40 mill isks tonight due to Eve-Meep choosing at some random time to swap my manually input mineral values with default values, despite my having disabled all market logs, etc (or so I thought)
If such a feature exists to force Eve Meep to never under any circumstances change mineral values except by direct user input, I'd really appreciate knowing what it is. |

OK, I found the feature to permanently set fixed mineral prices.
Are there any plans in the near future to add a basic help index?

Great program, shows just how strong the eve community is.
slight bug report on the MultiComponent plugin :
Seems like the Blue prints PE value is not being correctly evaluated when job length is being corrected when at negative values. time to completion on the print more than half's going from PE -1 to PE -2.
Apologies for reporting this if it is a known issue. |

Two things...
Can we get drone alloys added to the reprocessing calculator?
Also - how in the heck do you clear the items off the refine list in the batch reprocessing addon?
I have to restart EVE Meep to clear it currently, I can't believe that is the intended method of clearing that data.

I have to add the drone alloys by hand then redistribute the data files, so it might not happen immediately. Also, to deete a row, select the whole row by clicking the row headers on the left, then use the delete key. ------

Not sure if I'm missing something, but if I export the price data, where does it go? Is there a default file that I'm not finding? For the particular trading that I'm doing, I still need to spreadsheet some of my data, but what I'm getting out of Eve-MEEP has been of tremendous help. Now I just need to figure how to coallate the two...

I am new to using eve-meep (great program) but it would appear that ME does not function properly in Efficiency nor in MultiComponent when you select any Capital component BPO's. The waste value is always 0 no matter what start/end ME you select. PE does appear to work in the MC area. |

Rhaegor Stormborn: Sadly no.
Wadaya: I do know of this problem, its caused by the fact that they do not seem to be handled by the database the same as other items.
Zack Murasame: Thats around when it tries to update your API information. Make sure that your API details are correct and it is able to connect to the internet.
Retail Therapy: It goes to a file in the Resources folder (prices.xml is the file used by the program)
k9doc: see above
ingenting: You need to download the entire package, not just the exe. You can get it HERE. ------

So, its been quite a while since I went and updated eve-meep and I figure I should give some sort of status report. I stopped doing most of the work when I was out have tons of fun in 0.0 (in the weeks before AAA killed off IAC). Then of course RL gets in the way and eve takes a back seat, so I havent actually been playing eve for a while, which is reflected in the lack of updates here.
Last month I took a look at where all the errors are comming from in meep, and where I can improve it. Sources of most frequent errors: 1. Updating the API, causing constraint errors and thread issues with the Datagrids 2. Updating the program, where there seems to be issues for some people but not others
Areas that I feel most need Improvement: 1. User Interface (has always been a problem, im not very good at it) 2. Sifting through API data to show critical information to the user better
So to fix the bugs, I went and made a proof-of-concept program so to speak to try out other things (SqlCE, .Net 3.5, etc for those who might care). Image here. I will release this once its done for anyone who might want it. Hopefully this will eliminate those two issues.
To improve the interface will take more effort I think, and if anyone is good at UI and wants to help, please let me know . Untill then I will just keep trying different things and adjusting. ------

Hi, I've had this error now twice, once on Windows Vista 64, once on WinXP (SP2). I can't work out why this is happening. Both PCs have .NET framework 2.0 installed.
I have a screenshot of the error here:
Any help appreciated

Secondly - is there any rough timeline for when a fixed version might be posted? ----------------

Nice tool.
Three feature requests (not read all posts before): - Multicomponent should show the manufacturing price for one single product (I know, I can do it with a calculator) - A list with the available materials (all / at current blueprint) for the current mulicomponent production - Export of Wallet/Transaction journal so that I can use the downloaded and concatinated informations in other applications

Feature - a programm that does not register everywhere is pleasure, not pain.

Salvis, congrats on your efforts to make such a program. Perhaps start a PAYPAL on your site, would happily pay $$ towards this project. I'm using eve meep for trading and need help on an issue please. Under the inventory tab, I select an item and review it's statistics at the bottom of the screen (ie "Sabretooth Light missiles"). Against "Current Stock" the Unit value is listed as 750.00. This amount is applied against how many units I have to give me a total value of my stock. How do I change this 750.00 value please, as it should only be about 14 isk I've tried, but to no avail . All the best, and remember the PAYPAL idea. I think you could raise a wee bit of money there Reverend Kev - Kalgoorlie - Western Australia |

Just want to let people know I am alive and still here(ish). Production of the next version stalled when I tried making the UI with WPF, and found it to be great for simple stuff, very difficult or impossible for the complicated stuff. On the plus side, the back-end api related stuff is all finished. I try to keep the svn updated as often as possible.

I've been having regular crashes, on multiple machines. Often, if I simply leave it running for a while I can alt-tab back to it and it's splattered itself in the mean time. That in itself doesn't even worry me that much since I usually only use it at work to check my orders.
However, the orders tab doesn't seem to update properly. It has huge numbers of old orders, and when I tick the "Current orders only" box it only has maybe half the orders that I know I have open showing. Is this a side-effect of the API limitations (EG can only grab order details once every 24h?) or is there something else going on? |

************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debugging enabled.
For example:
<configuration> <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" /> </configuration>
If I continue past the error, it just sits, and no download occurs. I tried to download the plugins and place them in the program folder, but they don't load. Is there anyway to manually jumpstart this thing?

I figured this one out guys. I simply deleted the plugin .dll files, it redownloaded them, and all is well. |

Seems like it could be a good tool, but some issues. I'm getting a .NET error on the orders screen (seems to be on the sell orders only).
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

The POS plugin has far too many bugs, and so I took it off the webpage. I will not be fixing it any time soon, so that seemed to be the best route. Next version of meep is comming along quite nicely (My data is lacking, but you can see where its headed). One of the major issues thats been bug reported is the datagrids that will crash with an error message due to threading issues, and that has been fixed with the new view. ------

So I take it that I'll "soon" be able to see my corp's finances? This is something I would really like to see added. Being able to see what's going in and out of my own wallet is fine, but being able to see what's going in and out of my corp's wallet is where the butter's at. Keep up the good work! ---

How do you set mineral prices? I found the option but it doesnt save them. When I got to the inventory tab it tallies my minerals still using some default set.
I went here as mentioned in this thread http://www.eve-meep.com/about about setting prices. Thats all fine and dandy and I can find those options easily. But they don't save throughout the rest of the plugins! When I check my inventory it still lists the minerals as default, giving an incorrect amount but when I go back to the edit prices option it as them saved correctly.

I've noticed the same thing. I was stunned that the "Inventory->Total Value" tab was saying I'm sitting on 20m worth of scourge heavy missles, only to see that it had the price listed at the default 2,500 isk. I went back into Tools->Prices->Edit Prices and confirmed that the price was actually imported from eve-central, just not showing up in total value.

Thats not supposed to happen. Which default price type is selected? (mean, median, etc) and is that the one with the values from eve-central?

I'm getting similar errors but mine was a working installation so I can only assume that it is related to a recent framework update. Could also get the error message to "fire" when I went to the updates screen and asked Eve Meep to check for updates.
A fresh install does the same but if I remember correctly a fresh install checks for updates as soon as you open it (as well as asking for API details).

Same here, working installation set to update on start up causes an error. Ignore it and it still works though.. Wait did I just agree with Dante??

It appears in Apocrypha expansion one of the XML feeders (be it CCP or whatever site EVE MEEP gets data from) slightly changed their data format. If you see a "Continue" button, press it and the program should continue normally enough.

I found out what is doing this, it is the xml on the website that the program checks to update itself. I am working to get the site fixed, but untill then I have taken the xml down, which should stop the app from crashing. ------

I am also using Win 7, and the app runs fine for me (however I am running it via Visual studio). Is there a plugin in the same folder as the exe named PluginInterface.dll?
Also the webpage was fixed, so there shouldnt be any more errors about ':' in the xml. ------

Salvis > there is a huge problem in your application, eve if it's a wonderful application.
I talk about the Multicomponent plugin, where you calculate the profit on a Blueprint. The problem is in the price importation, you can import the price from eve central and the Mean prices for Sells and for Buys but in the Needed materials, the price you decide to display it's the Buy price but on a market the buy order are not the price you buy the materials, that's the purpose of the sells orders. You buy what you need that others sells to you :p For example if i need Nuclear reactor unit to build something, i have to buy them at the mean price of 151k isk (buy orders) and not 101k isk (sell orders).
I hope you understand me :p You can PM me in game on this character.

Any information or update on the following problem, as I am having the same issue:
Originally by: Salvis Tallan

Originally by: Corpia Sin How do you set mineral prices? I found the option but it doesnt save them. When I got to the inventory tab it tallies my minerals still using some default set.
I went here as mentioned in this thread http://www.eve-meep.com/about about setting prices. Thats all fine and dandy and I can find those options easily. But they don't save throughout the rest of the plugins! When I check my inventory it still lists the minerals as default, giving an incorrect amount but when I go back to the edit prices option it as them saved correctly.
Thats not supposed to happen. Which default price type is selected? (mean, median, etc) and is that the one with the values from eve-central?
I've noticed the same thing. I was stunned that the "Inventory->Total Value" tab was saying I'm sitting on 20m worth of scourge heavy missles, only to see that it had the price listed at the default 2,500 isk. I went back into Tools->Prices->Edit Prices and confirmed that the price was actually imported from eve-central, just not showing up in total value.

After a short break from eve, Work is proceeding on version 3, and I am very pleased with how it is comming along thus far. Most of the main systems are nearing completion, still some UI stuff to be done, and then it will be on to the calculators. Thank you to all who are helping, or who have offered to help! I wont give an ETA, but I believe the wait will be worth it. If you have any requests, bugs, advice, etc. feel free to send me an evemail, email, or stop by the #eve-meep channel on irc.coldfront.net. ------

*Hugs*
Edit:
3 considerations:
1) The new data files are tagged as 2.4.0.0 which might be a bit confusing for those with that version already.
2) In the efficiency tab, the "OnPaint" or whatever is the name for the ME table, there's some refreshing issue. It tends to redraw a zillion times per second when you scroll it to the right dragging the scroll bar.
3) In the schedule tab, the graph got the same feature, it seems self-refreshing like crazy as soon as you hover the mouse over it.

It looks like the Invention Calculator is completely broken after the update. Can't modify Runs, it always returns to 0, and Success Chance is above 10k% with Cost Per Result Run at 0 (I wish it were true!)
But the tool is still the best! Many thanks for your work. I'll restore it from backup and wait for V3

Hope that helps.

System.UnauthorizedAccessException is thrown when the program tries to do something with a file that it doesn't have permission to. Try running the program as an Administrator, or putting the EVE-Meep folder in a folder you have read/write permissions for.

As above poster Eleanor Arroway points out - the correct prices are not being imported into the multi component plug in. Minerals seem ok, but components for producing T2 ships are way, way out. Take the Broadsword for example, one of the required componets - Nuclear Reactor Unit imports a price of 16,000 isk (same for all import settings). The lowest price I can find these at is 148,000 isk (Jita). For a -4 ME Broadsword BPC you need 248 units per Broadsword, so the error on this component alone is over 30 million isk per ship, the same goes for the other half a dozen components required for the Broadsword. I cant figure out how to turn the price updating off either and the FAQ of the EVE MEEP home page is not working. What could be a great tool is just not working here unfortunatly

caution - noob ahead :)
okay I have been looking at the "effecency" part for a while now.
It seems to work on the ships (looked at some freighers). As you research the BPO, it uses less parts , and you get that read out of how much money you save. All appears to work.
HOWEVER I have tryied to do the same thing on the components (ie capital cargo bays, armour plates, stuff like that). And researching doesn't seem to change anything. - this does not appear right.
So can you in fact research this BPOS? .. and will it improve the material use? Can someone confirm what I am seeing as erronous?

Could you upload the source code to SF in compressed format? Your idea is very good but on my machine (Vista x64, .NET 3.5) totally useless. I would like to compile for .NET v3.5 and change the source for x64 (if needed). Thanks a lot!

Edited by: Von Horst on 22/07/2009 08:56:25 Salute Well, the question, wich burns on my lips is: What is the current status of EvE-Meep 3, and how many weeks of work do you think you need to complete your project (...maybe with some bugs, but so far you may say one may work with it)?
For me Eve-Meep 3 is the most interesting/promising project for industrial work and trading.
Unfortunatly the last "update" of the current status of your tool one may read on your website is from the 8th June.

EveMeep3 is almost done. The core functionality is just about complete, little things here and there for usability, and we have moved on to writting plugin mechanics and plugins. Right now I am trying to get a way so you can, for example, right-click a blueprint in your assets and jump straight to a calculator. We have the pricing system almost done, adding eve-metrics support and then need to do tweaking to optimize. For anyone familiar with svn, the code is the branch folder on sourceforge.

So, the box that hosts my site also hosts www.eve-metrics.com, and they just did a huge update, which involved taking the box down for a bit. When they restored it, the config file pointed to the wrong folder for my site and it reverted back to an older version. The problem should be fixed now, and the app should now be checking the proper xml file for update info. ------

Will ver 3 support 1080p? When I use ver 2.4 alot of times things get smushed up or overlap. Also may I suggest the repro calculator be able to use your inventory tab, so that you can repro whats in your inventory instead of trying to find each item in a list.

Soooo status report, complete with lots of pictures! Eve-Metrics 2 went live, so we finished adding in that support to go along side eve-central (Thank you to Grimdahl, who has been focusing alot on the pricing system, making sure that it is everything you expect it to be and more). I have been bouncing around making the application snappier, adding in much-requested features, etc. Production calc and efficiency calcs are just about done, invention and reprocessing are comming along. Before we can release to any sort of closed beta I need to finish and test the updating mechanics so that it actually works. And as promised, a ton of images: (Yes I know links may be taboo these days, all are hosted on tinypic because its fast and easy)
Main Page, gives an overview of everything
Wallet screen
List of assets, grouped by Char/Corp Have full control over what prices to use With the click of a button download latest market orders from eve-central and eve-metrics With that same click, see the history of the item
Blueprints are people too you know See the status of that type of BP on the timeline
Character screen Corporation screen
*DISCLAIMER* Still a work-in-progress. If it looks like a bug, it probably is and we are constantly updating and fixing ------

First of all, thank you for an invaluable software, I wish I was rich and could send you a tangible thank you
I'd have some suggestion for when you have the time:
- Add the NPC corp that sells the BPOs in the available data (some sites do that, it'd be golden to have it "all in one" in EVE Meep)
- Make possible to download a POS off the API like MyPOS. As of now I can't even save my hand made layouts because the program crashes when I add some kinds of structures.
- It'd be nice to expand on the wallet / assets side of things, since you made the bothersome task of getting an inventory of items you could as well implement some reporting / searching a la EMMA / JEvEAssets.
- The program crashes when it updates on the API of characters with partial access to corp wallets. Did this get fixed?
- I am not sure if this is possible or not already, I'd need something to calculate the effective viability of capitals. IE to see the costs involved in getting the BPCs / BPOs (on the long term) of the capital components plus of the ship itself. So I can know when it's better to build a freigther or an Orca or what.

I've noticed you can change the TOTAL price of the value of the items to affect the unit price (If I remember you can access it by right clicking). This has worked for me, although I have not tested it extensively. However, item pricing, price updating, etc., has been an issue for EVE-MEEP 2 for some time, hence the work on V3.
Two previous posters, as well as myself have commented on pricing issues -- see thread page six and seven.
Cheers to the work on V3, as word on the street (or in the station, as it were) is that these issues have been addressed, making EVE-MEEP a much more valuable tool for the hard-working industrialist. "Luminous beings are we. Not this crude matter." -- Yoda |

One feature that I found weak in v2, has been the materials pricing. I'd like for v3 to have the abilities of JEveassets (in Market Discussion forum), where you can choose to use various setups: buy price, sell price, average price and so on. In v2 I keep getting useless prices, ie if in Jita mega costs 4800 on buy orders, in v2 it'll tell it's 4300 or something misleading like that. On the other side it'll tell trit is 3.10 isk while everywhere it's 2.8 and so on. - Auditing and consulting

From http://sourceforge.net/projects/evemeep/:

Version 3 news Version 3 is moving towards release. Our website hosting went down and we have had to change a bit on the updater to allow for mirrors and make sure this does not hurt us again. Originally by: Salvis Tallan ok, so I threw together a google site, so www.eve-meep.com is back. All the version 3 screenshots are there, along with some news, which I will try to update slightly more frequently (as in slightly more-than-no-website frequently). We are trying to finosh up the plugins and then we should be good.
Excellent news!
If you want beta testers I'm happy to volunteer. In RL I work for Microsoft so I'm trying out beta software.

Number one issue is that we had been using an SQLCE db for our backend, and while it was easy to make and compressed nicely, it did not play nicely when switched between XP and vista machines. We had to do alot of hacking around to get it working about 75% of the time, and thats just isn't acceptable. To fix this, we went over to SQLITE backend, which is even easier that I had first imagined
GRATS!
I was to drop your otherwise excellent software because you chose to use that clusterf*ck of MS SQL.
Glad you found out why and did the right thing to fix the situation. - Auditing and consulting

Well, I dont know a lot about databases, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. Built-in visual studio support, I could generate the files from the eve db dump myself, and it compressed nicely. The downsides were it didnt work for like 25% of everyone, and due to the aforementioned lack of knowledge I really didnt feel like fighting it. I found that sqlite had the same kind of VS support, and after that it was an easy decision to make. Plus there are various other developers out there that publish sqlite databases, and they should be compatible with meep in case I take too long pushing out an update. ------

Now if only someone could convince CCP to stop using MS SQL.
While their at it could build the website on Apache and it'd be so much better. With ASP.NET they're locked into a tiny lil box with no real support from the wider industry. For starters the session management might actually work lol!
You know I'd actually apply for a job if they didn't use ASP.NET and MS SQL. Having experience with it I know that no amount of money is worth the pain that the systems cause for developers. I wouldn't take an ASP.NET job for anything less then US$200k, just to cover the earlier death from stress.

Same. When accepting jobs I already know if the clients are hopeless noobs just by seeing what platforms they are using. I mean, it's not like there are not functioning proprietary solutions (if one company refuses to use open source), so why not use them. - Auditing and consulting

Hi there
Just a quick question.
When the flag in the inventory is set to None, whan does that mean?
I have been looking for some lost items for some time now, and now it shows in the inventory list with a 'None'flag and a blank location field.
Could it be stores inside a ship or container, or maybe at another corpmembers personal hangar?
Thanks for awesome nice program.

I've only been playing around with this program for a week (and in that time mainly just playing around with the Reprocessing calculator). A couple questions about updates though... The "Latest Version" never changes from "Not checked" and I'm not sure if it has something to do with the way I installed it.
Also, I noticed there are new files on the Sourceforge page, but I'm not sure if they're updates for this version (and if so, what to do with the new files) or if these are test files for a future version.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Sulu555: good question, I think none applies to items sitting in a hangar, and also the default I-dont-know value for the flag.
Kalasz: The files on sourceforge are indeed the files for the latest version, save for the main app and the updater. This is so we can test the updater to make sure everything is working (we had some pretty annoying vista/7 issues due to lack of admin privs).
Lord Helghast: Version 3 uses Eve-Metrics in the fullest, from getting prices, to getting all open orders and market history. We then process that and pretty much spit out exactly what eve shows when you look up an item in the market. We also do cross-referencing with eve-central on most of that, but that makes less sense now that eve-central directly grabs eve-metrics data on a continuous basis. ------

Maybe I am just stupid but I can't for the life of me figure this out, when I add something to the reprocessing calculator how can I remove it? I don't see any delete button on there. Kind of kills the use of the thing for me.
Other than that though, fantastic tool!
