Hmmm, lemme think about that.
Not really.
Stop trying to spin and think outside the cult range for a moment, step back and take people at their word.
Its amazing how you post in exactly the way you chastise other people for doing. Also the irony of your description of Mittens is overwhelming.

Where is all the upheaval about all the Band of Developers (oops, sry BoB) shadows that still exist and perpetuate certain mechanic exploits? See, that is beyond the black and grey lines and you fail to call those elements out in to the public forum. Hypocrisy always has blinders on. People cannot call out the real truth because it hits too close to home. Goons have neither won or lost here, they are playing their game, that is it. All the tears and agony are right up their game play methods and you fell right in to it.
I would suggest that all the cry baby wanna be, do gooder white knight, increase CCP Gov'ment rules regulation, tree hugging, environmentalist, commy bass turd, low life, social game reject, suck asses go find a different game to play that only has pretty jeweled NPCs in it, cause playing a MMO that has combat interaction is obviously too much for you, not to mention and meta game attributes. goons can do whatever they want .. but need to be prepeared to face the consequences ,
Goons have been "facing the consequences" in EVE and other games for years. Doesn't change anything though |

If he meant he was going to personally lead an effort to show just how easy it is to mess with people in Jita out of irritation at the outpouring of idiocy surrounding these events, more power to him... it's long over due.

Cailais wrote:Alex Gianturco clearly made an error of judgement by speaking in such a manner whilst inebriated.
To what extent his apology for that mistake is genuine and sincere is extremely difficult to judge not least (and there is not a little irony here) because his 'persona' is typically one of "mocking sincerity". The question then is whether he should be given the benefit of doubt?
Equally CCP will need to consider if the negative PR his actions have generated are such that to continue to allow Alex to act as a representative of both the player base and CCP Games products would be damaging. The association with another major company (SONY) will of course accrue additional embarrassment to CCP.
This unfortunate series of events is not entirely Alex Gianturco's fault, CCP allowed the presentation to occur and have encouraged and fostered its FanFest events to be seen as drunken revels and the antics of its players as somehow 'cool'.
Ultimately though Alex Gianturco accepted the kudos and esteem of being the chair of the CSM and, regardless of how relevant we may see that collection of players, he also accepted the responsibility of that position. Personally I don't doubt that Alex Gianturco is genuinely remorseful of his actions and I have some sympathy with his plight having made numerous errors of judgement whilst under the influence of too much alcohol.
That said he should now demonstrate a greater degree of moral courage by accepting his mistake and offer his resignation - a service which would offer CCP games a resolution to a difficult issue and also a service to EVE Online and its wider player base.
'The Mittani' might say he owes those who didnt vote for him nothing: what Alex Gianturco has to say on the matter will be more revealing.
C.
Apparently he has already tried resigning the chair position, but is having trouble finding anyone willing to take it from him under the circumstances.

I'm not calling for Alexander Gianturco's resignation as CSM chair for him hurling a few insults about. He's been doing that quite happily through his first term after all. I am calling for his resignation because he used the stage at fanfest as a bully-pulpit to call for the organized harrassment towards suicide of an eve player while serving as chair of the CSM.
I realize you can't resist trying to score some sideswipes Rodj but I consider this is a grown up game and we can engage in the hurley-burley of forum debate without our nannies like you complaining about rough language being used. You'll notice i'm not in the habit of running for the mods when I'm debating issues.

On the contrary, British politicians have had to resign from the Cabinet or Shadow Cabinet in the past because they were only accused of wrong-doing. Recent examples include Iain Duncan Smith, Chris Huhne and Peter Mandelson.
Charles Kennedy even had to resign as Lib Dem leader because he liked the odd drink!
It's true that they often return at a later date, but that's normally after a subsequent election. I'd be quite happy to see Mittens return to the CSM if the electorate demands it next time. Dulce et decorum est pro imperium mori. |
