Rumor time!
Apple boy is rumored to have left with 20 deathstar kits in his possession.
BOF is rumored to have a baby titan in build somewhere in JZV, with ~5 weeks remaining. There are also 2 moms coming out in the next couple of weeks.

blah blah blah.. You want to know what IAC's real down fall was..
The fact they build stations vs supercaps, dreads, and carriers...
When a member losses a personal dread and the alliance canĘt replace the losses. Then that is one less dread you will have next fightą
If you are a space holding alliance and you want to hold that space you better have at least 100 dreads ready to go in your prime time if not more. You also better have a nice stock of backup dreads for when people lose their dreads in capital fights.

After all the smack on IAC forums we didn't expect you to go KoS on us. We were hoping for a fight. Read the post from Eaiaden half way down the second page in the "IAC vs -A-; Will it Ever End" thread in the Alliance Discussion section for the forum smack i am referring too. -------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Avicenna Sarfaraz on 16/09/2008 20:24:15 All I see on CAOD is alot of unneeded and uncalled for smack talk. The fact of the matter is when the GS reset was announced those that knew were already Jumping out their valuables, and the few remaining corps stubborn enough to keep fighting are litterally walking into 40 vs 240 + UNL + RA + GS + Whoeverelseyoucanthink of...I can see this for a fact as I am the CEO of one of the remaining stalwart corps, watching this great alliance decline like a pitcher at a well attended kegger.
I have held respect for -A- and their tenacity for all these years for off and on fighting with us in Providence as well in Catch. They are surely not pushovers, and have proven that with their string of victories - most recently the "defeat" of IAC and the fall of JZV.
Frankly, We dont have the numbers to fight 14 Titans + 150 dreads. AAA's subcapital pilots however leave alot to be desired for the most part, in the small scale skirmishes we have racked a considerable number of kills against them when on a even playing field, for either their sloppiness as arrogant pilots or our blatant disregard for our own ships safety. Unfortunately we have lost the anti-capital ability long before the Mavs got involved with IAC, and sending our cap fleet in would lead to feeding -A-'s ego a bit more with 80 dreads vs 20 or so odd remaining dreads...It really wouldnt be a fight or you'd have had a fight to renember.
The fact is, IAC has accomplished alot in its time it developed and defended well the space it has held for so long, against impossible odds. While this is eve and its only inevitable for every alliance to eventually lose their space, it is truly unfortunate to see IAC go down in such a fashion. I was hoping for a bar room brawl of the ages but what I have seen is merely a college dorm gangbang on part of the coalition. ( Thanks guys!)
Hachou as a leader should be held in high regard. He took a job nobody in the alliance wanted, with a heavily damaged reputation and pvp arm, and tried to turn the alliance around even though the odds were against him. Perhaps all the conspiracy theorists will suggest he had a hand in the destruction of IAC. He must take responsibility for the outcome but he gave it his best shot and did everything with the best of intentions to improve the situation. For that Hachou has my eternal grattitude and respect.
We brought our corporation to IAC knowing this was a possiblity, we took the challege and I have no regrets about slapping on the badge of the Drunken Cat and fighting the good fight, no matter the outcome.

The Mavs have been a great group of guys.
To everyone else who isnt involved: I wont be responding to much of the junk going around. Most of the stuff is fluff and has little to no real info in it.
IAC went through some internal changes, at the same time -A- attacked and Goons reset. Knocking out a world champ prize fighter when he is injured and sick is still a KO but the fighter really wasnt in any shape to fight. Given time to recover he would have been up to snuff for that punch and would have easily shrugged it off.
To -A- You have done an outstanding job of playing EVE to the max. You have formed an alliance that is pure PVP. You have mastered the political and the economics. I would also go as far as saying they have mastered the black ops side (gathering intel from others and spreading discord).
IAC has been called the punching bag of the south. The worthless drunks who always just stick around for a good fight. We were never like -A-. We were never hard core PVP, we were crazy drunks who just enjoyed playing EVE. Its sad that the fight for JZV came when it did. I suspect that the factors surrounding our demise were in large part formed by -A- and their intelligence ability. Helping add a bit of bad Vodka in the mix and making sure we werent exactly in Top shape for the big fight.
Was it unfair? No its EVE. Was it a good bar room brawl? No.. we were to damn upset that someone had messed with our beer to notice the angry Russians.
Will IAC survive all the excitement in JZV? I guess thats what makes EVE so exciting isnt it.

Question is, if Hachou had stood down/apologised/left would you have continued?
Those of us in IAC with more than 1 brain cell knew that we couldn't win an all out war with AAA, it was pretty simple - you had superior fighting numbers and bucket-loads of caps. We also knew that you didn't particularly want IAC space which worked in our favour somewhat; so we were mostly content to sit in JZV and put the occasional minor offensive operation together, such as the one to get Vanguard into FAT-6P. Basically we knew our place in the food chain, and it was a quite nice place to be. Nothing wrong with that - just as we knew we didn't want to start a war with our neighbours in Impass, I'm sure they in turn wouldn't want to start a war with their neighbours in Querious.
So it was a bit sad that Hachou sparked a war IAC couldn't win over forum drama. It was pretty obvious that something had changed; especially with AAA gangs giving us smack in local about questioning our leaders (although that did sound a bit Goonswarmy). More obvious when Hachou finally admitted the reasoning. But by then we had already been subject to the first corp cull and lost a few POSs with another cull yet to come. Our diplomats were a bit crap when it came down to it - very good at causing problems but not very good at sorting them out.
So the hypothetical question was raised: since Hachou was the source of the grief, what if Hachou "disappeared"?

I am over it; EDF has left IAC and we've moved onto pastures new already.
But I'm still interested in the analysis - what did happen, what could have happened, what will happen! Rumour, gossip, opinion and speculation. Isn't that what makes CAOD interesting?
Other than posting 'First!', 'tl;dr' and 'ibtl' I mean, which is the other 50% of CAOD. It's not as if this is the forum for factual content is it?

I enjoyed my time in IAC. I clearly remember telling TT that his stealing the MS's wouldn't be a bad thing as long as it wasn't found out too soon. Whoops.
It sounds as though there is very little left in IAC that resembles when QI was there, but I still have pretty good memories of some of the fleets put together to go against Stain/BoB or even roaming gangs into Curse. Good luck to those who remain, and those who leave. Maybe one day I'll return to the South and resume my attempts at killing AAA Ishtars with my Dominix, but for now - BoB calls. ------------------------------------------------ There are only two types of ships: those which have blown up; and those which will.

I`m not speaking about "if", only facts. There were no any single plan about IAC, but all our currently developing operations were frozen, and small "holy war" turned on. You can see effect at influence map.
I don`t know about "disappearing", but at eve-ru he seems very happy. So we did all in right way, regarding reaction of your former alliance leader. "Alliance leader" here means "a man, who is representative of players majority".

This...
If we would have offered to kick Hachou I would have lost respect for us.
Hachou is taking all this on his own shoulders. Personally I don't believe it. I believe -A- were just looking for an excuse to invade, and Hachou gave them what they were looking for. Nothing more. That way they could appear to be the injured party and invade in the name of righteous justice.
In the end, it matters not. Props to -A- for a well executed battleplan.

so true so true, and Hachou talking smack on russian forums is in true IAC fashion, imagine that small extremely drunk guy at the bar, what would he do if he saw the biggest sober sob at the bar, he'd go up to him talk smack, spit in his face and then kick him in the shins. who cares if he gets thrown outta the bar he'd get the biggest props and go to the bar next door. |

So general consensus is either:
a) -A- had no intention of invading but Hachou provoked them. b) -A- were looking for a reason to invade and Hachou gave it to them.
Either way looks like a screw up to me, and this after IAC did pretty much the same thing with Goonswarm. It's funny what people consider 'doing an awesome job'. From a diplomatic point of view, it just seems that IAC spent all it's time hammering nails into it's own coffin.
Personally I don't buy that -A- were looking for a reason to invade us. Why bother to wait until they looked like "the injured party"? They could have rolled through JZV at any time and nobody would give a damn whether it was instigated or not. It's useful to have the moral high ground when arguing with an equal partner, not a punching bag.

Well I don't think anyone would say IAC's done particularly well on the diplomatic front since I got caught
Hachou's still quite a good FC and leader and deserves respect for picking up the pieces and keeping the alliance intact and active, sure as hell wasn't an easy job he took on.
If the alliance remains intact and he manages to complete the reforming process he started then what remains could be something to be reckoned with, probably much tougher pound for pound than before.

Agreed on all counts.
I think IAC's future is sealed though. Even if -A- decide they can't be bothered to finish the job and take JZV, there are half a dozen other alliances that will. All they would have to do is drop a few large POSs in the systems surrounding MB (any remaining IAC POSs that were not removed by evacuating corps have already been destroyed for the most part) and then it's goodbye Sov 4.
So it seems inevitable that they'll be leaving JZV. If/when that happens I doubt many of the remaining corps are going to be content to sit in Curse/Empire and play pirate.

The war with AAA was close to lost as soon as AAA got that massive boost from signing on one of RA's corps. Goon joining in just made it a quicker certainty. That's why people got their shit out instead of wasting time and money. RAAAGOON are playing Risk with 200 armies. It doesn't matter what they do with them; they've won all immediate conflicts.

The "mutual" standings reset had a huge impact of IAC morale and marked a tipping point for several corps in IAC to leave. However, Goon pilots actually played a very small role in actual combat operations v. IAC. As a matter of history, they didn't play a role in removing IAC towers and -A- could have done it with a 100% -A- fleet instead of 95%, but it certainly says something when a mere reset caused another alliance to panic.
I think that if pitched battles actually were fought the Goons would have played a larger role, but they were not really needed by -A- as we did not offer a legitimate fight in any system. |

This is a complete mis-perception. 'panic' as such was caused by Executive management attempting to micromanage the member corps. I cant speak for all the corps that left, but more than one said 'F-this' the week before the standings reset due to internal 'restructuring'
Management decisions and their failure to understand what comprised the 'culture' that made the IAC brew work for years are the fundamental reason there were few left to offer a 'real defense'.
More than one have summed it up well in the various threads on the subject. The IAC that is losing JZV is a very different alliance than the IAC that defended it thorough many prior invasions.

For those that left not willing to compromise their corp spirit, be proud of your choice. (if you actually have a reason to protect that said corp spirit)
For those that just love to fly internet spaceships working as a team, and shoot stuff, respect and keep on having fun.
For the carebears that lost their place to mine (Alaxen - one can never be sure given the number of alts in this game, so forgive me if i'm wrong), you'll find another one.
For those willing to compromise in a game you're supposed to have fun, grow a spine. :)
