My opinion changed after considering the premeditation of the presentation drunkenness not withstanding and....AND.... AND Mitten's post-fiaco posts on various forums which indicate that he isn't sorry and that in fact he'll turn this into a boon for goons. It smacks of disingenuous recriminations, "I'm sorry because I got caught", [PeeWee voice] "I'm NOT sorry! Hahaha" and that the apology was merely a calculated action to mitigate any potential repercussions. All the trolling about his ego, I begin to believe are actually true. A person such as this will do whatever to cover his own ass going so far as to post public apologies while privately never actually considering that what he did was wrong and that if dire consequences resulted in bodily harm to someone else, self inflicted or not, it would be their "own damned fault". That pretty much meets the definition of sociopathic. Heya Kidd. You might check some of those sources again before changing your mind about the apology. In every source I've seen the one constant out of this is his stance that all else aside his apology to The Wis was sincere. Granted, there may be things that have surfaced I haven't seen yet (I have to sleep sometime). He may be a jerk, he may be mouthy, he may manipulate, he may be irritated at how things transpired, but he has never said he seriously wanted the man to actually come to harm... and has maintained that stance even when his fellow goons told him he was a wuss for apologizing in the first place. Perhaps you're right. But, by his own words, I'm just not seeing it that way. Regardless if he was serious or not anyone in a position to control so many others cannot guarantee that they all realized that. He, as a leader of thousands of gamers, prepared a presentation based on a communication from another player who clearly was of a questionable mental state, then got drunk, then used that presentation to mock the communication in front of 10's of thousands of players and the entire world. That of itself is unconscionable. That he jokingly commented in favor of a suicide is abhorrent, joking or no, drunken or not. I've already outlined the premeditated nature of the entire incident in several threads. This is the most damning fact in my eyes. And as a person who has been through depression, I cannot excuse this behavior in any way. This behavior is what one expects from children, not grown adults. The former doesn't realize the seriousness of such situations, the latter had better because there are real consequences. The premeditated nature of this incident completely negates his apology which would suggest that he was not in control of his faculties at the time of the presentation and that it was spontaneous. IT WAS NOT SPONTANEOUS. The prepared nature of the presentation proves that. That he has communicated afterwards in private forums to indicate how this can be turned into a positive for his ego and his minions, only serves to confirm my opinion of the real reasons for the apology.....mitigation, not repentance. This is further supported by the obvious and multiple instances in which the apology was used to indicate that he was drunk and therefore it was spontaneous. How then can he explain away a prepared slide? He can't. And he's knows that. He'd best serve himself if he'd just shut up for the next 30 days and hope that this thing does blow over.
Nobody cares that he showed the slide, or mocked him. This is life as usual in the EVE universe and has caused no controversy.
The remark that was out of line was during an unscripted question and answer period. If he had pre-meditated and prepared for making his suggestion it would have been done during the prepared portion of his presentation, not in response to a comment made by a random member of the audience afterward.
This is easily verifiable by watching the footage.
While I certainly respect your opinion, I don't think you have any evidence to base it on. When I check troll in the dictionary, it has a photo shopped picture of you standing somewhere in the vicinity of a point.
Also, I can kill you with my brain. |

Punished? Remember the t20 incident? You know, the one where the whistle blower got perma-banned for revealing a player's NAME? Just revealing a name got a perma-ban, and you think this is punishment? I'm all for friendship and loyalty, but you don't get mad at a judge after you friend gets five years in the clink for armed robbery. To stand before a man at an inquisition, knowing that he will rejoice when we die, knowing that he will commit us to the stake and its horrors without a moment's hesitation or remorse if we do not satisfy him, is not an experience much less cruel because our inquisitor does not whip us or rack us or shout at us. |

As far as I am aware the people who had to do presentations prepared them during their "free" time in which they were, incidentally, also drunk.
Also, as far as I am aware, being drunk while committing an illegal act is considered a reason for some leniency in most countries.
While I find his actions just as questionable as most people around here (I was, in fact, the first one to voice concern over the scam itself, long before it became public knowledge) I find it even more reprehensible for people to piggyback on one single social faux pas in an attempt to further their own anti-goon agenda.
What's even worse, and this is coming from someone who also suffers from chronic depression, is how all those self-proclaimed moralists and white knights are dismissing the agency of The Wis. They are actively ignoring the choices and opinions of the offended since it doesn't help them with their anti-Mittani crusade. As is often the case in politics, the ones who view themselves as morally superior are really the ones that bankrupt themselves over this issue. |

People have hated goons many times before, but now they're just a joke to the entire community. Even goons can't be proud of that. Haha, you think goons are humbled. That's adorable. |

That's when it becomes a crime, not a policy violation. If that happened, Mittani would be serving 1+ years of prison, not aboobooing about a 30 day ban. |

You are a hypocrical fool. Like everyone else persercuting alex.. Band wagonning idiots the lot of you. God forbid society. If this is the meaning of your lives.
Something you might want to think about. "What if" all this media attention was not wanted by this person. they promptly got so depressed with it all, they killed themselves. Does that mean YOU as a protaganist in keeping the media alive, are responsible for their death? think about it.
Another thing to think about. Are you not harassing alex? Are you not trying to bully him? . You cry for his head for his action. With the actions you are committing. We have a police force for a reason. If you have a gripe, you should be contacting them. NOT the forums or anywhere else.
I am mad yes. A bunch of hypocritical prebescent no clue wannabe 15 minute heroes the F**king lot of you. Get a life. Enough is enough. let it go

But do any of you actually believe, he wished any bodily harm on the Mackinaw guy? People tend to say stupid things when they're drunk. I know I do. Talking about destroying a man's life and his reputation over something like this... that's just insane. Not that I think this case would have any chance in court, most judges actually seem capable of using their brains. I've played quite a few mmos over the years, some of them with horrid communities, but I have never seen a greater bunch of over-zealous, self-righteous whackos with such a completely distorted sense of reality.
