This thread will no doubt be removed, so i'll make sure it's on my SEO enabled forums as well.
After DT on the day of lag and server crashes, I lost an abaddon as my modules wouldnt turn on. I petitioned the loss, mainly as no warning messages about the lag were anywhere when I logged on. My first reimbursement loss in nearly 2 years of play. I even let the can expire with modules inside thinking CCP would sort this out.
I get the ship back after a long delay (day or two) with some modules on it. The modules that were dropped, I was told after replying to the petition, were lost for good as I should have taken them from the can. I'm unable to claim these back and have had to buy them again.
So basically, CCP caused the problem and are at full fault, yet I STILL LOSE OUT. I'm not suprised people are becoming sick to death of EVE these days. CCP need to sort out their policies as they may find that other new space MMPORPG's become quite popular. ------ Killboard Hosting - www.eveonlinekb.com North West UK EVE Group - www.eve-nw.com |

I fail to see any problems with that. It was just your own assumptions that caused you to make that mistake. I can understand whining about not getting the ship or the destroyed modules back, but the mods in the can ? Come on. Nobody to blame but yourself.

Dropped items are NEVER replaced to anybody, as technically it'd be duplicated if someone else had picked them out.
Matter of policy, deal with it.

if CCP were to give you back lost modules it would essentially be duping, which no game company would want to do in its own game, additonally you could run a scan by having an alt of corp meber retireve the modules, and then end up with 2 of them. if for example your gist x-l booster was dropped, you could make a lot of money like this.
Its a fair and reasonable policy, the one being unreasonable is you. |

What can? Did you jettison stuffs? Makes no sense to me.
"Oh crudbuckets! Major lag is causing my ships mods not to turn on! What to do? Oh! I know! I'll just put all my mods in a can and jettison them!"
Can someone explain this to me?

Not when this was nothing to do with me at all. CCP admitted their fault, I should get the ship back with it's orginal fittings.
Yes, I left the wreck alone as I had petitioned it. I was not going to take anything from anywhere as CCP should sort it out. ------ Killboard Hosting - www.eveonlinekb.com North West UK EVE Group - www.eve-nw.com |

It was a CCP error at the end of the day, not mine.
It is very simple:
- if CCP were refounding the dropped can content and not only the destroyed items they would be duplicating items potentially still in game and in the hand of some players (not necessarly you);
- it they were to remove the originally survived items from the game the one looting them (for example a ninja salvager entering a mission or the pirate that destroyed your ship) would be losing them when he has legitimately get them.
If they are inexpensive items, no harm, but they can easily be very valuable items. Then there is the problem that some player could find a bug to exploit to "lose" ship with valuable modules to duplicate them if they are returned from petitions.
So droppend items should not be recovered through a petition. Sorry for the loss, but it is working as intended and how it should work.

Thats always been a policy with CCP that you dont get the dropped modules back becuase its widely assumed that people arent stupid enough to let their modules sit in space when quite easily they can pick them up again. --------------------------- The Cake is a lie... You shouldn't have. Somebody could have come along and swiped the stuff inside. If somebody else got that stuff, and you would get the stuff back too, that's essentially duplicating items. And that's a BAD thing, in case you still have doubts about it.
Only DESTROYED things get reimbursed. Things that can be recovered are NEVER reimbursed - finders keepers rule.
Reimbursement policy "Items looted from a wreck following the destruction of a ship cannot be replaced. Should your ship be destroyed, we advise you to seek out and collect your belongings as quickly as possible."
It's a fair and logical policy, and it is public knowledge. Not CCP's fault, YOUR fault for not bothering to find out what the policy is in due time.

For the hard of reading, CCP admitted their fault. It's not mine, they should return the ship as it was. If someone looted a wreck, then that's CCP's fault.

It'll be fairly easy to find your ship and it's fittings, as there's a killmail being generated which corresponds to item numbers and they can compare those losses to their server logs. They know what time the server crashes so they'll be able to reimburse if your ship is lost at that time.
However, I assume the reason they don't reimburse items in a jet/lootcan is because there's so many jetcans floating about that it would take them ages to find that particular can you are talking about in the listings, and that's simply not a feasible thing to do.
Just my two cents worth.
