While most applaud the Caldari State for its efforts in bringing entertainment to the people, in a manner almost reminiscent of the Gallente Federation's former Open Olide-Planet 1 Starsystem Experience (a.k.a. OOPSE), some frown at the clear infringement of copyright and trademark laws by such a reputed organisation as the State, or any of the member corporations.

Anyone see the movie called "hot dog the movie".....it's a mid 80's ski bum movie.
this race aint no race......it's a "chinese DOW'N HILL.
and if ya don't know what that is......what the movie.
Lets see....ship set ups. HMMMMMMMM
<--------- starts thinking cruiser for CPU and power with webby for those infront, large energy neutralizer for anyone around you can lock, mine laying capabilities for those behind ya. Medium smart bomb for those within the 100 meters at gate bogging ya down. gotta have a missle launcher of some kind in there as well. Couple long range medium guns for those friggies that get out in front.
<--------starts digging through foot locker for aincient earthian World War 2 german made war helmut with spike for pilots hat and thinking cap as he forces his minmatar slaves in corp to start work on new customized cruiser chopped and cropped to reduce signature radius.
Be a shame if not everyone coud enter but then again it does sound like a caldari specific event just like the amarr had the championship event.

Edited by: Zandra Sunhillow on 22/07/2004 18:02:08 "At the end of the one-month sign-up period, the 100 applicants which each corporation holds in highest standing will be accepted to participate on behalf of that corporation in the four-week qualifier league."
Does this not mean that in effect only agent runners will compete? This magnificent race would then pit not awesome pilots against each other but rather the garbage men of Tranquility. Sweet one.
A simple qualifying race using the the agent system would have been slicker.

to be honest i dont like this way at all. that would mean one have to be a agent runner and that will be hard to the core gamers.

Yeah, that is kinda crappy. I was allready working on ways to fit a 10mn warpdrive onto a punisher. But with my crappy standings I'm not very likely to be accepted :(

Agent players have taken advantage of an aspect of the game that most don't seem to have the patience to stick with. Runners do it to raise standings with corporations to recieve rewards, get better refining at participating stations, and access to networks that can provide information. The title "garbage men" is a little out of place. I, for instance, run missions, mine, run blockades to and from 0.0 space and have 8M skill points. I've scouted in places most players have been afraid to go to because of pirate activity, and, while performing some of the combat missions for my sponsor corp, fought some of the nastiest NPCs in the game.
Most of those who disagree with this method of choosing a corporations representatives have probably ignored this facet of the Eve universe for more "exciting" pursuits. You might as well disagree that only Amarrians could compete in the Amarrian Championship. Caldari are a mercantile based society, "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours, but charge you a little for it". It isn't any surprise that mentality would choose those who have done the most for them, hence the faction rating system.
I have an excellent rating with my sponsor corp and am going to work like a fiend to push it higher to ensure I can compete. BTW, I am an awesome pilot. I hope to see ya'll at the starting gate...

The thing is, I'm also accounted as a fair pilot by my corp mates and the folks I operate with out in 0.0, but I'm no agent runner. I have next to no interest in running agent missions, yet I wish to compete in this Championship. By limiting aentrants based on their standing with the corp they choose to race for is an excluding method of selection that disregards the large faction of players who 'Don't Do Agents'. Me, I don't do agents, but I want to race. Based upon the stadnings rule, I'll have no chance at all, since I doubt my 0.34 standing with Caldari State will count for jack. Kinda sucks, tbh.

This event, like all events is role-played, and made to fit in with the fiction and story of eve, although agent missions is at this time the main method of gaining positive standings with a corporation, it doesnt make sense that these caldari corporations would want to deal with people who are effectivly 'enemys' and have taken action against the caldari.
and as for agent missions, they are actually a lot of fun once you get into them -------------- Mystic Senior Event Producer Aurora - ISD
