Awesome!
Question: can you tell us how long the qualifiers will be (about how many jumps), so I know how much time to block out? Or is that a closely guarded ISD secret? ---------------------------

Edited by: Tsun on 27/08/2004 11:56:18 Nebulai, quick queston, why did you change the rules ? i was under the impression that it is possible to take part in all 5 qualifiers (and through that have more chances for the win) ? It is definitly a problem for working people if you must attend a particular run and it is not at the weekend (like me) and i suppose we will definitly have a high dropout rate cause of that. And on another note, runs with only 10-15 peeps are rather boring in opposition to runs with 50-100 participants. This change of rules most likely ruined my chances to participate which i think is very sad as i put alot of thoughts already into my setup and tactics, and you event guys are putting alot of work into running this event. So please change that back, there's still time for it !
On another note, the new smartbomb change isn't helping this race either, peeps just bombing away without the fear of sentries in <0.5 sec space during the race is almost sure now. this grows somehow more into a pirating event and a "who kills the most racers" event :(

Hmm.. will you be going by timezones that we're registered on? If that's the case there will be severe problems for me to make it to the race.
/me is Hoping to get put in group sometime after 02 gametime ;)

Tsun I never had that impression. i always understood it as u had one chance only to qualify for the finals. Although isd said they would do what they can to see that as many as possible can join by giving them a chance to change to another qualifier time. If it wasnt too much of a logistic problem that is. at least thats how i understood things.

I agree LoveBear
If they were going to do that then they might as well have one qualifier and take the top 10

Tsun read the rules.......not between the rules.
as for smart bombs in <.5 space
go ahead and try it ......the soon to be new smart bombs just get deactivated within 5000m of stations/gates.
does not say there are no flagging or repercussions for using them outside that range. I'm sure you will still be flagged as an act of aggression and most likely be podded if hitting anyone in thos systems.
you reading to much between the lines man.

Tsun, a race with 50-100 participants would be impossible to do, everytime a bunch of them reaches a gate, the game would lag soo much it would become completely unplayable, especially if there are a bunch of guys who aren't in the race at the gates anyway, and would ruin the race for everyone except those who manage to avoid it, and I should know, I organise races on a regular basis.
So where you get the idea from of it being more fun to do it that way is beyond me...
Oh, and one more thing, it stated clearly on the rules page since the beginning that the rules could be changed at any time, so you have no right to tell them to change it back to the previous set of rules... ---------------------

Edited by: Tsun on 27/08/2004 20:27:52 first of all, thanks for those responses :D
@lovebear: thanks for that info, didn't know they would (try to) allow that. that atleast gives me some hope :). i hope the final will be at a weekend so that will make less of a problem (if i reach it ofc)
@X'Alor: great info man. i had no chance to play on the test servers since they put up the next patch, if smartbombs won't be able to be activated in 5000m of the gate, then this won't be such a problem ofc. And just for info, the part about only one qualifier race per person has been changed during the last couple of days (in this detail at least ;) as lovebear pointed out it could be picked up in different ways before and i was of the opinion that you could take part in all qualifiers), so that was no reading between the lines ;)
@ivresse: well, if you care to read the race discription again, the final WILL be an 80 person race (except they change the rules again ofc). thanks for you expertise, but i still think a "combat"-race between 8 people is hardly as fun as between 50-100 people (even if it will be alot laggier). And ofc CCP can change the rules whenever they want, but this doesn't hinder me to point out that i think the old way was better or ? Constructive Feedback is one of the main sources of information CCP has, so no point in flaming me for that ;)
cya all at the race (hopefully) !

I'll post another update later today, however as it stands were on course to start on Monday!
For those of us with lives outside of Eve, is it possible to find out the timeframes you're looking at and pick one that doesn't conflict? I'd hate to miss this because I'm working, and taking time off work is not remotely an option.
And again, what are the little red and green numbers? Very curious!

Howdy folks,
Unfortunately, due to the massive workload brought on by Shiva and the necessary resultant re-prioritization of tasks, we need to postpone the beginning of COLOSSUS qualifiers. We are currently setting up the qualifier schedule and assigning contestants to their qualifier races in accordance with their time zones in an attempt to better accommodate everyone.
We realize that it's necessary for the pertinent information (final rules and a full schedule) to be out there well in advance of the actual races, both so that players are able to plan out their tactics and so that those who for some reason won't be able to make their qualifier race can attempt to get their qualifier slot switched with someone else's.
So, to sum up:
Instead of beginning Monday, August 30th, the COLOSSUS Qualifiers will begin on Monday, September 6th and run until Sunday, October 3rd.
We will post rules updates and clarifications over the weekend, and the finalized schedule will be ready early next week.
Sorry for the delay, guys. |

sweet first in after update.
and woot woot.......I will have time to train a covert ops.
and Tsun..............thanks for not taking offense to my "critique"
from my understanding the only rules are the rules of engagement per security system. engaging racers in <0.5 systems could result in criminal flag and delay your jump to next system.
with that note.....only 00 engagements will not slow your jumps.
