heh, why should i be offended X'Alor ;) You gave me some new info, so i'm perfectly fine. And just for the record, i was not worrying about racers starting off smartbombs, i was worrying about player pirates sitting in 8 large smartbomb apoc's infront of a gate and just bombing every racer out of the way. i'm dead sure we will still see the one or other m00 or tps member on our racing lane ;) trying to wreak some havoc.
But anyway, since the start of the qualifiers is postponed (thanks for the info Gnauton), i'll have enough time to have a look at the test server :). Can't wait for the final rules aswell.

And ofc CCP can change the rules whenever they want, but this doesn't hinder me to point out that i think the old way was better or ? Constructive Feedback is one of the main sources of information CCP has, so no point in flaming me for that ;)
Hmm, yes there is that, but hopefully by that time the lag issues would've been sorted out with the arrival of Shiva anyways, but we can only wait and see. Apologies if it looked like I was flaming you, but I was only giving an experienced point of view.
However, 20 racers racing at one time is still just as fun, and even 6 racers racing at one time is still pretty fun, as all of my DUI Racing entrants have told me. There's a point when there's too many entrants or too little entrants. But my corporation has still succeeded in what it set out to achieve, as a fun alternative to simply blasting people...
Btw Gnauton, when and how will you provide info on the betting, I believe I've given you some betting odds for the corporations themselves... ---------------------

Originally by: Aitrus And again, what are the little red and green numbers? Very curious!
The first number is your current standing with the corporation you signed up with. The second number if you have one is either green or red and is the change in this standing since you signed up.
This is to show who if anyone is working real hard to raise their standings, and who if anyone is dropping in their standings for the corp. If competition for spots was tighter, some people would want to know how hard to fight to get in the top 100.
As it is, anyone not qualifying for their current corp can simply switch to a corp with <100 entrants and be guaranteed a spot in the race since in total there are <800 entrants.

Actually, each time they update the list the change is reset. The list has been updated twice now that I"ve noticed (once when I signed up, a second time when the signups closed) so if you are only showing a change of 3.9, yet you know you've changed 8.1, then that means that 3.9 of that 8.1 was done since the last update (whenever).
I'm 99% sure that this is what the case is.

I am greatly put out.. even with the delays I am not going to be in an interceptor by race day... Oh well... sounds like many are going for a more ... aggressive... racing stand... I should hold out just fine in those circumstances

I too was researching inty. When I signed up, I calculated and discovered I wouldn't finish before the race, so I switched to nav skills. Now, with the delays, I might have just been able to finish inty research before the qualifiers. Ah well. At least now I've researched nav skills which otherwise I would have continued to ignore for a long while. I hope the fact I'm flying a mere Tristan won't mean I'll be beyond all hope of having a chance in the race.

Edited by: Shevar on 02/09/2004 23:03:50 Well CCP updated the rules page, no updates at what times/days you gotta travel or where to start.
Quote: * Qualifiers will begin Monday, September 6 th . * There will be 5 qualifier races for each corporation. Each contestant will race in only one qualifier. * The top 2 contestants from each qualifier race will make it to that corporation's Final ten-man team. Thus, at the end of the qualifier period, the number of contestants will have been whittled down to 80. * These 80 will then go on to participate, in teams of 10, in the final climactic marathon race. This race will be somewhere between 120 and 150 jumps, spanning several different regions, with no restrictions placed on tactics, ships or modules. * The race's organizers will not intervene in terms of preventing PvP unless it is deemed absolutely necessary. This is and will be a free-for-all for those involved.
Qualifier-Specific Rules:
ò Each qualifier will have its own channel set up in-game, with passwords given out only to the qualifier's respective contestants. Channel names for each qualifier will be advertised later.
ò Qualifier channels will open up thirty minutes before the qualifier's scheduled starting time (if a qualifier begins at 21:00 GMT, its channel will open at 20:30 GMT).
ò If a contestant is not in the qualifier channel ten minutes before the qualifier's scheduled start, he or she will be disqualified.
ò Five minutes before the qualifier's scheduled start, contestants in the channel will be transported to the starting lines and given the official route for the qualifier.
ò Contestants who for some reason are unable to race at their scheduled time may attempt to swap with another player, advertising their current slot and their desired slot on the EVE Online Events forum. When two contestants have reached a consensus regarding a slot swap, they can send mail to [email protected] expressing both parties' consent, and the schedule will be changed accordingly. If two contestants swap slots and one of the two does not show up for their race, he or she will be disqualified as per normal. The contestant with which he or she swapped may still race in his or her new time slot.
ò In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the race organizers and CCP reserve the right to make modifications to these rules and/or add new ones as they see fit.
1 question about the rules though, will the team winning be the finals with the best average time, most people crossing the finishline or just the guy that finishes first? Or is it an estafette run where everyone gotta make a bunch of jumps?
I hope the first, I wouldnt want to risk being stuck with a n00bie (no offence ofcourse) while being totally dependant on his finishing times (although that would give me a good excuse when I loose (which i will most likely do anyways)) -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

Edited by: Kreeela on 03/09/2004 12:11:38 Hmm not the times i was hoping for. ALL races between 15-23 GMT :( annoying when you usually are working between 16-01..
Not really complaing but would have loved to see atleast one race in "the night shift" to get races spread out around the clock. But anyway nice to finally get the whole thing going atleast.
So now I've started looking forward to the reward we'll get when we win this thing ;) |
