Edited by: Valan on 26/07/2004 11:08:09 Forget the*****pit view, window thing.
All hes asking for is a locked forward facing view that is not obstructed by the ship. To be honest I would like that option as well.
That language filter is beginning to get on my wits!

Problem is that our view of space is provided by a camera drone since we are actually stuck in a pod buried deep in the ship.
Much as I would like the direct-facing view suggested here I have to admit I actually like the small added touch of immersion granted by restricting our view to the drone view with the resulting limitations that entails. I like being able to see the camera drone on the radar when you zoom out too :)

Well, if we're looking at realism, why can't the drone just hang on to the front of my ship? Why is it always behind? |

so just have the drone park itself about 1M in front of your ship facing outward instead of inward ;)
jarjar: what we really need is a mining display! with lots of funky looking dials and readouts on how much ore we're pulling in, since a lot of people seem to think eve is some sort of space age mining simulation....

Just look at the front of your ship, zoom in and hold the left mouse button down and turn, there¦s your "roosterpit" __________ Capacitor research |

If you want a cokpit view, may I suggest to change games. As others have stated, this game has it coded this way for a reason and there are many other online games you could try. IE Jumpgate (Old dying game - good community) But hey, who knows what can happen.

Kinda hard to look out the ****pit window when you're in a capsule filled with ectoplasm. We like the view the way it is. Don't change it.

AAAARGH!!!!
ffs
whats wrong with hitting a button to hide the ship model?
right now if i zoom the camera right in, i can see THE INSIDE of my ship - it looks absolutely rubbish
even I, with limited coding talents could write a bit of code to hide the ship model when the camera is within x distance of it.
for the tenth time - i dont want a traditional*****pit view like an FPS simulator, i just want to see where i'm going when the camera is zoomed in close
it's not that hard to understand is it? |

Meowcat, even though this is a pretty stupid idea, there is an actual forum for these kind of things.
Go explore, stop using the General Chat for what ever comes to your mind.

i give up - if you dont want general comments posted in the general discussion forum, i suggest you post a thread advising CCP to change the title
and **** off btw my suggestion is perfectly reasonable (you clearly havent actually read it if you think seeing the inside of a ship model is acceptable)
anyway, i'm off to lurk the forums and shall not post further. far too much flaming here. ~~~~)\~~~~~\o/~~~~

Oh and since you don't seem to understand what I meant before:
This topic should have gone under the EVE Idea Lab.

I suggested the same thing. a*****pit view. And had the same problems. Wierd language filtering and people who just didnt get what I was asking for.
For those that still dont get it:
1. Move the camera so its facing the front of your ship. 2. Zoom in. 3. Hold down the right mouse button and rotate 180¦
You are now facing forwards without the damned ship in your way.
I want this view to be available without having to hold down the RMB. So I can, for instance, double click. To go forwards.
Id like the same view to be available in fact when i'm "look at"'ing another ship, as its very useful to be able to synchronize headings.
