First of all it should NEVER fade out, just muffle slightly, secondly how fun is it to only hear your own lasers in a huge battle vs 20 npcs? I didnt buy a 128 sound-channel sound card to hear 3 channels, my own weapons / engines / targeting sound. Thirdly how fun is it to not even be able to hear other player ships or even gatejumps, or even WARP-SOUNDS due to being 1km away?
Fix this now. I play with sound because im not pretending to be hardcore by turning it off. I play all games with sound, im a soundoholic and sound means just as much as visuals to me.
Also:
Flickering white orbs in asteroid fields. As seen below.. Anyone else got that? Tried two different drivers, 181.00 and the very latest from nvidia (non-beta). I think this is the same bug as on SISI that was tied into Blooom, but really, fix plz, cant even mine or rat like this since it causes crashes occationally (at least it did on SISI) :)

Please post issues in the issues thread
he is right although he could of said it a bit nicer. i hate the fact i cant hear anything hitting me. i see the lasers and stuff hitting my ship but theres nothing and it makes me feel like im deaf. also when moving items i liked the little clicks it made when u moved the items it was a way to let me know they were moved. also i really dont like the fact that i have to have my ship completely zoom in where its taking up half the screen just to hear my guns firing. i do love how the animations look while warping and how the drone structures look but the no sound is a big turn off. i really love this game but i cant play that long with no sound...t just bugs the hell out of me.
Agree with both of you guys... CCP bring the sound back the way it was before.
At least give those of us who dont like the MUTE fights the option to play without sound fading feature.

I'll keep this thread on topic by stating that nothing whatsoever needs changing in my opinion. Great graphics, sounds, effects, and zero lag. All high settings with a two year old computer. Thanks CCP

System will let me log in, but not enter the game. System will not let me file a petition and ask for help. So here I sit stuck paying for a game I can not use, while you all play..... What kind of fun it that?!?

if you had bothered just reading the one page before your post, you would have notice that 1/2-2/3 of the posts here describe exactly the same problem that you do. In other words: no, we are not playing as well.

Anyone know when the real Apoc is coming out? This one seems to be the pre-testing version. Sure it was used on the test server but, judging by the lack of willingness to comment I'm guessing CCP Dev Team didn't bother listening to the test feedback either.

only problems so far are the lag and getting stuck in a busy system for over an hour and not being able to enter the game.

Edited by: Mitram on 11/03/2009 23:24:34 Why was the audio device selection removed from the EVE-Client?!!!
Now I have to use the old work-around by setting the default windows audio-device before starting the second eve-client.

just thought i'd let you have some positive feedback for a change: - works like a charm under wine (! grats to the Wine team, less grats to CCP for dropping linux support but meh, it works, all that matters) - LOVE the skill queue - LOVE the new exploration system
usual patch day instability is as usual ... nothing unexpected really :)

Lag? I wish, 15 disconnects in just a couple hours, before the expansion I hardly ever had a problem. Have to alternate toons to get logged on......
I can live with the crappy sound if I have to, even the cheesy new graphics (some of which are actually cool), but to do all this I have to BE ABLE TO PLAY.
Like other, wait and see, the 'fix it or else' clock is ticking

I have the same hangup!!!! I have 2 sound cards and if I need to put on the headset (2nd card) I only have to change the game settings. now, that is not an option and game time is now restricted due to noise issues...
WHY WAS THE SOUND DEVICE SELECTION TAKEN OUT???

Welcome to the 21st century, dude
no! typical stupid comment, taken out of context, it work great with EVERY other game I play..on or off line.....so im not really bothered that wont be playing anymore...also better for you no doubt, less people on line at hubs...less lag.. but reading all these comments....im not alone, and even those who are biasedly OH so pleased with the patch gripe about the various items....it seems ALL this patch has done pleasingly is upgraded the graphics.....wow some price, all the actual "game play stuff"..you know, stuff that makes a great game, like flow, or the sounds, or events, well it seems to me this was a typical lumberjack who cant see the wood for the trees syndrome...and not only this..but the next great upheaval is on the way dumping the shader 2 graghics cards...hope your is up to 3....more will fall away, especially if they have just upgraded to a shader 2 card without realising....you may have not noticed that there a cash crisis going on..people loosing jobs and their homes...a new graphics card for themselves or their kids is gonna be a bit low priority Face it..Quantum Rise worked, the patch doesnt....
and basically I dont care..its an elitist on line game...and they done me a favour....closeing my account...
As for yourself I hope all goes well for your game play I really do, I dont wish ill to anyone still able to play, hope it lasts...

I think the expansion is pretty incredible. I knew that there were lots of new effects coming, but I wasn't prepared for how the new sound design really improved the gaming experience.
The story for this expansion with the "planet on fire" was better than the usual story as well. Kudos for going off the beaten path and telling a story that doesn't have anything to do with factional warfare.

When I first became capable of piloting a battleship, like so many others before me, I flapped around and lost half a billion in hardware to a combination of ignorance and marginal skills. In the weeks after, I became a competent drone operator and managed to become efficient at clearing out scrambler frigates in missions. The whole experience was phenomenally lame, but there was some fairness to it. Afterward I came to find missions as they were designed fun.
So of course this could not stand. Recently I have lost two more battleships. One was to a lag issue, and I hope I will be reimbursed for that (I was stuck "warping" for an extremely long time, locked out of helm control, yet not actually warping, simply stalling until thousands upon thousands of armor HP with running reppers gave way to being loose in my pad.) That is no real cause for complaint . . . lag is part of the game, and the last time I was a victim of server underperformance I was treated fairly as a matter of policy.
However, something is horribly horribly horribly wrong with the interaction of drones and mission frigates today. Kills that would have taken less than two minutes before Apocrypha now may not occur even after ten minutes of concerted drone attack on precisely the same sort of ship in precisely the same sort of mission. If I had lousy drone skills or was deploying inappropriate combat drones, I might be a lot less disturbed by this bizarre change.
Perhaps the idea was to revive smartbombs as an effective mission tool (though my first BS losses provided pretty strong proof that they are generally not effective for sweeping away scrambler rats.) Perhaps the idea was to abolish the viability of soloing t4 missions without a tech 2 ship. Whatever was the thinking behind this, I am certain it was profoundly stupid.
At times it seems as if the entire game is about coddling the social butterflies, always at the expense of us lone wolf types. Sure, a t4 mission undertaken alone should be difficult. Should it be impossible? If so, how did the astronomical changes of Apocrypha bestow godlike tanking ability to wee little scrambler frigates? Loyal players do not have high expectations of new versions, but is that any reason to keep lowering the bar, especially in such a nonsensical way?
Of course I am irked about more than this. Probably the best use of wrath today would be to call for the dismissal of manager(s) involved in the boneheaded decision to base hardware capabilities on a pessimistic sales forecast. I cannot believe the savings by going cheap on Tranquility outweigh the hundreds or thousands of lost subscriptions after server-related problems spoiled so many experiences, including those of many virgin players, today. Whoever put together the hardware budget produced work product that is unforgivably bad.
While this nonsense with the drone-proof scramblers may be forgivable, but that does not mean that it was a decision made with competence. The game can only benefit from a continued niche for the soloist. In terms of combat, that niche has been dramatically reduced. To what end? I cannot even begin to formulate a sensible response to that question. I believe making scrambler drones practical targets for some sort of attack a large vessel would tend to mount should be an extremely high priority. Otherwise, many mission runners like myself will continue to suffer surprise loses during the early days of the new version. While I may not be taking my marbles and leaving, I would be surprised if everyone else shared my patience and hope for a better future in Eve.
Regards, Robert Fitzroy

Bad news = I have tried to auto-patch twice and download got stuck both times (22% and 54%). Then I tried the direct manual patch which also got stuck at 39%.
Good news = I have no issues with Apocrypha itself as I cannot play it.
Better news = I have a couple of big books to read and two other PC games to play.

1 - My Cheetah remains visible when cloaked. 2 - The sound of my autocannons is extremely intermittent. 3 - Explosions only make a single electronic popping sound like when you pull a jack-plug out of an amplifier. 4 - You STILL haven't fixed the ships-not-docking-just-hanging-outside-the-station bug. 5 - Graphics are awesome :-)

Yesterday, I scanned out a wormhole, jumped through with my Raven, fought some sleepers, salvaged the wrecks, jumped back through the wormhole and sold the stuff at market. Everything worked, looked and sounded great!
Thanks CCP! I love the new scanning system.
My only observation is that the Sleepers make the regular NPCs seem like weak sisters. The Guristas need to step up their game too.

Edited by: osiris23 on 12/03/2009 01:38:08 How about instead of a suppress turret sounds you have a suppress inside station sounds. They are way too loud compared to all other sounds. Turret sounds are muffled. Everything else went well patched no problem.

I cannot even create a new character on the empty slot on my account. This has been 24 hours now and through one DT I have been told by GMs to wait it out or that Amarr are having problems (even though it hangs on any faction I go to start with).
I just wanted to try out the finished off New Player Experience and have as of yet been able to do so since Apoc released yesterday. I can create a new character of the Amarr race on my main's account last night with no problem, but this account I am told to just wait its a "waiting" problem.
Can't even file petitions or view petitions on this very website, it has been down all day. Have to use petition system in game and it takes several hours in between GM responses in total now has been 25+ hours since first petition with no result or indication of why I cannot create a New character.

After well over 24 hours now of play, I am still overjoyed with the fine job done on this patch. Graphics are top notch, sound is excellent, and I love the wormhole exploration and sleeper battles. The only, and very minor, issue I'd have to agree with other people on is the loudness of the station sounds. However, I see this is already being addressed.
There has been some lag in some solar systems of space. However, this is normal right after any patch so I'm not going to ***** about this. The new goodies just bring out so many players and flooding the markets with new toys.
Thanks very much CCP.

I had fun playing Apocrypha content on Singularity the past few weeks. The new content and promises of new content made it a fun experience while hunting for bugs. I accepted the hiccups and problems with aspects of the game on Sisi because its there for testing. I believe the M10 release of Apocrypha would have made a fine much more polished off build to be released for test on Singularity, but I would have never released this many bugs with not only downloading of the files, installation of the client and second patch file and installation.....but also of the playability of the game.
Off the top of my head right now I am having overview bug that I reported from Sisi where I am getting duplicates of everything that comes in new to the overview. Workaround is to minimize and maximize until something else new comes into the overview. Many random disconnects since release that I never had pre-expansion. Sound volume is horrible and was all through testing on singularity. Firing of laser, and rail guns still only shows animation every other shot and not on insta-pops. New rat warp ins are yes more realistic, but added more frustration than realism was worth. Warp graphic is much better than it started on Singularity but still needs MOAR, and needs to last longer, just doesn't have the IMPACT feeling of warp ins and outs as the old one did.
Graphics are much nicer on EVERYTHING definite +++++ Sounds are more distinct and characteristic of whatever is making them, but low volume detracts from the thrill of it. So far playability and smoothness of the client is greatly increased over the best times of the previous client, but just TOO many bugs still. Once these are worked out I can't wait to play stable eve again.

I'm happy for this new graphic. But there is a thing that I don't like: ships color; colors are all dark with low contrast, is more difficult to identify ship type looking it and is not so impressive to look personal t2 ship... :(
