That option is to supress turret sounds. I wish people would read threads before posting once in a while.
Works for other sounds for me (and the three people online I just asked to check in local right now). IIRC, it suppresses all turret effects (missiles work differently) from far away. Disable that option to hear them. --- Have a rawr on me. |

It doesn't work for me. The Suppress Turret Sounds does nothing at all...
Starting to think that my settings might be corrupt or something, cause changing some other stuff does nothing either. I can't get the simple damage notification to go away either, even though it's unticked...

This is also a problem for me. I have a Creative Labs X-FI sound card. No sound issues whatsoever pre-patch. Post patch same as all here. No turret sounds, other audio problems mentioned.
Also, sometimes during a fleet fight, or a level 4 mission, there is occasionally a loud popping/cracking sound. Almost like one of the sound effects for a turret, armor rep, or some other module is corrupt or not working properly.
I noted this on Singularity during the 3 days of fleet fight tests. Others in the test also had that loud popping sound now and then also.
Something is definitely wrong with the new audio.

Originally by: Aurvundill The new sound system is based around 5.1 audio. So your using 2 speaks with a sub or less, you'll get simulated 5.1 or a clusterfark of audio on those 2 speakers.
Simulation of 5.1 is NOT the problem. I have 5.1 and the current EVE sound is nerfed.
Turn EVERYTHING all the way up and go out and survey a roid belt with a scanner. You can barely hear the noise that is made.
NPC rats hit you with fire, and you hear nothing.
Dock, and the terrible in station sound is way too loud and sucks.
I hope for a very quick fix as my EVE experience has greatly diminished.

Mine as well. Everyone is always like "eve has sound?", but for those of us who enjoyed playing with eve's sound effects and music going, this really sucks. --------------------------- I have to make my own sig break? WTF? These forums suck CCP, fix 'em or get something better... I'm tired of reading Khraunus' sig every single time I read one of his |

Same issue here as well.
The sound is all sound muffled and I can hardly hear anything. I tried checking and un-checking the turret sound option and have had no improvement.
I have Realtek HD audio on my mb and have tried tweaking the settings however, none of these have made any difference.

Sounds is totally corked for me as well.
- Synchronization issues between the animation and the actual sound (sound is heard like 2 seconds before the animation plays)
- At times sounds cuts off all together, can't hear any turrets just UI sounds at full blast
- As mentioned, sound leveling is all over the place, quiet warps, super loud station sounds overpowering the music, super quiet guns.
- Can't hear explosions of ships/objects.
That's on a Sound Blaster Audigy 2.

This is not limited to the Windows client. The sound problems came up for some of us in the os x ingame chat.
People were reporting everything from extremely loud station sounds to almost inaudible turret and gate activation sounds.
For my part it seemed like the sound levels deteriorated over the four hours I was actively playing yesterday. They started fine but by the time people started commenting on sound problems I'd started to notice them as well.

I have also noticed trouble with the sound in Apocrypha. I will also note that the sound was affected by how far away the camera was from the focus even before Apocrypha, but it is decidedly more extreme now, and I must say it is bothersome. Zoomed in at default camera level for a Battleship, with sound at relatively mild levels, I could hear at least my weapons firing, as well as the sound of my shield modules or any other active-use modules going off, and a bit of the warp effect, but everything else was nearly silent. I zoom out a little, and suddenly my cannons sound like thunder beyond the horizon instead of thunder right outside my window, and just a bit further out and suddenly there's troubling silence. Also, if I zoomed all the way in on said battleship, I heard this odd low rumbling, which I can only assume is supposed to be the ship's power plant.
Regardless, sound reception based on distance is far too extreme right now. Yes, there is no sound in space in reality, but we need our sound and maybe if we can zoom out so we can see the battlefield and actually HEAR the battlefield, that'd be awesome.

Sound levels are all over. I really need gate sounds to dual account and in order to get them in a decent lvl I need to keep listening that annoying backround noice.
Make it fully adjustable. All sounds I mean.

I submitted a suggestion to be able to toggle stargate and acceleration gates some time ago, but I don't know if it received any attention. The acceleration gate sound really grates on my nerves, especially if I'm stuck near one mining.
The new sound issues definitely jolt me out of my immersive Eve experience, but I have faith they'll get them ironed out.

Having tons of sound issues, so much so, that the sound system is mostly non-working in the latest client. Also, when I finally do hear a sound, it gets stuck repeating until I reboot.

/sign Same problem here. I have sound enabled and all volume sliders maxed out and can barely hear a thing. No music, most weapon effects low and muffeled, no warp or engine sounds either. Running my sound off my mobos built in 5.1 surround sound PCI-e card so I would have to side with everyonelse above posting that it is not a 5.1 issue but a patch error. On the other hand new weapon effects look great

How the hell can something a ssimple as totally screwed sound get through testing?
Did your QA testers come cheap due to their hearing disability?
Just return sound as it was and stop stuffing with things that arent broken !!

Are you sure you are zoomed in to hear them? That's the real problem, and I know it sucks, but I have been able to hear my guns and every other sound just fine by zooming in to default camera distance on my current ship, a Typhoon. Anything smaller probably has a much 'closer' default zoom point and the sounds are more distinct, but if a Battleship gets the sounds just fine on my client, what is wrong with your client?
Again, the sound does need to be fixed, but it's not gone, it's just really distance-dependent, now. If you play zoomed out like everyone else, you don't get sound. If you play zoomed in, you get your ship's sounds and maybe nearby sounds, but get a ****ty view of the battlefield... ---- "Sounds like a bad case of pikal envy, if you ask me."
