My 5870 just died so I replaced it with a xfx 7770 It was all fine and dandy till I tried taking my avatar aeon and archon out at the same time needless to say its very very nerve racking having to deal with hard crashes while playing with 200b isk on the field.
I'm also using LGA 1366 i7 930 like many of the people in the thread

Ok guys, I fixed my crashes by doing the following, maybe it'll help someone in this thread:
1. Turn Eve to Windowed Mode 2. Turn off HDR and Set Interval to Default 3. In CCC Under Catalyst AI, uncheck the box that says Enable Surface Format Optimization
I also noticed something else which was my computer still froze once while in windowed mode but only for a minute (normally my system would have just died) and I noticed in that time (since I was windowed) that Windows 7 (64 bit) switched the theme from Aero to Basic. A couple minutes later it did the same thing (freeze etc.) but it switched it from Basic back to Aero. I haven't seen it again but perhaps Aero has something to do with it (wouldn't surprise me). |

Just saw this in the info tab for new AMD beta drivers:
Quote: Resolves a sporadic system hang encountered with a single AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series GPU seen on X58 and X79 chipsets. Resolves an intermittent hang encountered with AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series GPUs in a CrossFire Eyefinity setup.
Anyone trying these out? I'll do it when I get home.
Also update on the issue:
- gets more frequent using more clients simultaneously (2 clients crash in ca 5 minutes after start, compared to single client where it can take anywhere from 5 min to 2 hours... or never in that session).
- gets more frequent if using: map, active PI gameplay crashed in 15 minutes or less (passive play on the other hand - just watching planet and structures didnt crash after 45 minutes), and running high quality .mkv files on the other monitor.

I will stress test these beta11 drivers very shortly and report here. It's going to be nice to turn my graphics back up from 90's mode. |

I was unable to find that quote but I updated to the 12.11 beta drivers because of it. I'll report here how my experience goes.

Ok update:
It will take probably far longer to really test the stability of the new beta drivers, however:
after running 2 clients for 2 hours, with maps and active PI, with movies running in the background, no crash.
With previous drivers, I'd usually crash within 5 minutes.
If not fixed, It's definitely better than before.

Well I stress tested the crap outta the new driver last night for a good 6h. No more issues. So this Driver version is stable. I would recommend cleaning out old amd drivers first before the install. I used Driver Fusion... works like a charm.

Not to nitpick, but I installed beta drivers on Oct 24, and I had the same issue. However, yesterday I d/l the Retribution client and today I'm logged in and on the starmap, have been for a few minutes now....perhaps the Retribution client release addressed the issue? Regardless, I'm quite happy the issue seems to be resolved, even if I have canceled my account. :)

My current specs:
Windows 7 64-bit Gigabyte M68M-S2P AMD Athlon II X3 425 4 GB DDR2-SDRAM XFX Radeon HD 7750
There's probably something to the various mentions of certain GPU / CPU socket / chipset combinations causing problems. The motherboard is a tad old and the 7750 seems to be one of the very few Radeon HD 7XXX cards it can handle.
Since I've updated the driver of my Radeon HD 7750 to the latest beta version, I haven't had issues with my PC locking up for days. I haven't experimented much with two or more clients, and I only have one monitor, but the brief times I did run two clients, I didn't see any problems either. |

ATI 7970 here and I have the same problem. Hard-freeze often. Computer completly locks up requiring a full reboot. I have checked everything from testing each of my ram, checking PSU, re-seating video card, rolling back drivers, updating drivers, turning off sound, re-installing windows, eve, sound devices, running in safe mode, desktop graphic settings, everything.. Never have been able to find a fix. My computer plays every other game on full graphics with lots and lots of other stuff running and only problems with Eve. :( |

Baitrix wrote:Hi all I recently bought a ATI HD7970 for it's large amount of display ports (4) + 2 DVI and obviously it's (promised) performance. With EVE though I now get System freezes when I have two or three Clients opened. Usually this is triggered by opening the map a few times (i guess there's some gpu intense operation happening). The system will then freeze completely! Sound loops, Display freezes and I have to hard-reset (reset does not work, only power button 4secs). This also happens without any sound enabled, so it's definitely not the soundcard. Drivers are the latest, tried with .4 (latest) and .3 Seperate EVE-Clients don't help either (With each of the three clients set to its "own" ATI Card (1,2,3) (no I don't have CF, but eve shows cards 1-3). Just wondering if I should send the Card back for RMA or if it's really just ATI & EVE ... No Crashes with FurMark stressing the Card or any other Games. Thanks a lot in advance! Cheers, - B Edit: This still happens with latest 12.8 Drivers and also with just one (1) client! Edit+: Also happens with 12.9 Beta Drivers *sigh* Things Tried but still having system freezes/crashes
- Disabled Flash Acceleration
- Full OS Reinstall
- GPU Stress Test (no crash triggered)
- GPU Memory Stress Test (no crash triggered)
- Disabled/uninstalled HDMI/DP Audio Drivers/Device (see this post )
- Disabled AA in EVE
- Set Interval to "Default"
Do you also get the vertical grey lines? If so this is resolved by disabling the HDMI audio device.

Hi Guys & Girls If your still having issues with full system lockups when opening the map try downloading the latest AMD driver 13.1 (release date 17/1/2013) its fixed my issues without work arounds. I would recommend un-installing the pervious version & restarting windows before installing the new. Hope this works for you. |

I literally JUST built this computer less than 2 days ago, using ATI Raedon HD 7750's with Cat. 13.1 drivers. I cant get past the launcher. it hangs my computer completely, have to reboot.
I installed EVE on a separate SSD HDD other than my OS.
Can anyone help?!
i can post specs if needs be. but i cant even get it to verify the client the farthest it's made it is 34% before it locked up the whole PC. |

I run two windowed sessions, each at 2560 x 1440 on a Radeon 7850. The new 13.2 drivers seem to make the display corrupt to the point of not even being able to find the shutdown button within a few minutes of starting to use the clients. I have rolled back to 13.1 and everything is fine again.
I've reported this to AMD but thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else has the same problem. |

Hello, im on my second week of eve and I have an issue aswell but it's not the same as everyone else explains it.
I run with a Radeon 6950 HD card and Win 7. I'v had no hard lockups, iv had freezes of 0,5sec to 30sec and this have made me loose around 100m isk in value ingame, just because my screen froze at the worst possible time. Anyhow I run other games very well, WoW and BF3 on almost maxed graphics with no sense of lag or freezing. I can't say I havent frozen in Eve before some patch as I am rather new. I have tried most of the stuff allready posted in this thread with no luck, iv tried to format my system, iv tried to run it of 4 diffrent disks and I have also tried to play on my laptop wich outspecs my desktop. In my issue I get freezed mostly when close to stations, in warps/jumps or just completle random at times. It has made me frustrated as in loosing two ships while mining, screen freezes and when I get back my pod just exploded! 10ish mil isk and I don't even get to see it blow up. I'v tried to run almost every driver from AMD and I still getting the freezes. I should also add that im a big total war player and Shogun 2 and the expansions don't make my system freeze at all, no issues in any other game infact.
And to the big troll on the site, if you can't understand that this is CCP fault, then go back to your cavechair across your mama's room! :-) |

That'll be 100% a software issue. I'd recommend going to device manager and finding "AMD High Definition Audio Device" under sound, video and game controllers. Disable that.
If that doesn't do it you could try disabling "turn off screens after x mins" in your power settings as on 7xxx series cards this completely powers off your GPU and I've heard of some people having issues with it (Doesn't behave nicely for me when I'm using eyefinity actually).
Reinstalling your drivers is always worth a shot too. |
