And then while you're working on the PvP angle, you realize that PvP simply isn't fun. After years of "carebearing" it turns out that the PvPers of Eve are even bigger carebears, even more afraid of losing their pixels and digital ships than highsec people.
And then you cajole people into PvPing, offering ludicrous sums of ISK for evenly matched fights just to get some kicks.
It's not the game that is wrong, but it's your approach.
Join a PvP only corp and you'll get all the few vs few and also many vs many PvP you want. No need to pay anyone.

I can't say that I "won" Eve because there is no winning, but there comes a point when you have to ask "What's the point?"
The game is a sandbox. You decide what you do till one day you may decide that the next thing to do is... to quit. It's fine, it's part of the sandbox after all.

As I've explained to you in person and in game, I haven't been collecting ISK to sit on it, I've been wildly spending it as you can see for yourself. I've refunded a few other folks while I had ISK waiting to be spent, but refunding you requires someone else step in and fill the gap.
For those of you who posted after my last post, I have another refund to process (Thormoz), which will require someone else (or parties) to step in and fill the gap to the tune of about 5 billion ISK.
*EDIT* Hemmo, that is me singing. There's a link in my signature *look down* where you can see all my parodies. I've sang quite a few songs, and rapped some others. My wife even has made a couple of parodies. :) -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Dunno Curzon... With all the promised stuff, planet interaction, incarnathingy, comets, blah blah blah, aren't you at least a little bit curious about that stuff?
I love EVE, even though I've never had as much fun in EVE as I had in SWG, but seems like EVE will be a very complete gaming experience... someday.
You can always come back and start from scratch, that could be a new challenge for you.

What I still don't understand about all this, is if your worth so much, why do you need to raise 50 bil isk ??
"Before I go, I'd like to get a Paladin and a Golem, and officer-pimp them both, which is what this IPO is about. I have approximately 150-200 billion in assets, mostly in officer fittings and ridiculously expensive ships"
Alright well you probably already have those ships, and the officer fittings/isk to pimp them out as well. You just state you worth over 200 bil, why do you need to raise 50 bil from people ?
If your really leaving eve, and wanna give back to the community, why not do some contests or random drawings ? Give some stuff to friends.. maybe make a contest that awards the most creative done thing with your name, etc. Basically your only "rewarding" people that already have a lot of isk to invest, that is IF this isnt a scam..
But it has to be... because no matter how you justify it or how clever you word it, it still doesn't make any sense when you break it down. You have the assets and isk to do this on your own, if you wanna give back you could simply do what I sated above.
So again im gonna say this is a scam.
If notable/known people from real alliances were putting money in, it might even look more valid, but all the people saying "blah billion sent" are random alts.
and yes you got entity to post in this thread, but he has not stated he has any collateral or is actually working as a 3rd party or will reimburse anything when you dip.

Did you actually read the thread? I thought Curzon had explained things quite clearly. Also, the last time I checked I'm not an alt. Some people might have contacted Curzon directly, as crazy as that sounds. It's not always necessary to disclose to who and how much isk you loan/invest to the rest of Eve.

If u would have done your research better u would know CD is legit in everything he has told soo far. Thats why i send him 11 billion.

I'm looking forward to having a faction Dominix; I whined for one of those for 4 years. And if I haven't communicated this very well, I'm not leaving Eve to go find another MMO, I'm leaving MMOs. Life moves on and I just don't feel the pull to grind and quest and PvP anymore. Not in any MMO.
My wife and I play Warhammer 40k (the tabletop miniature game, not the video game), and I think that's kind of replaced my MMO time, although I don't get to play 40k very often either. If anyone is nerdy enough to know what that is, I have a Tau army and have started Dark Eldar, and my wife has a massive Ork army.

Responding to "If notable/known people from real alliances were putting money in, it might even look more valid, but all the people saying "blah billion sent" are random alts." line. This random alt was considering to rob his random main and plunge another billion into this venture, but I need to keep some liquid isk for plex and possible emergency expenses, so most likely I will stick to participating with just a billion. Like other investor already said, some people don't like showoffs. I think it doesn't make any big difference, if I post with my "investment secretary" alt, or non-notable/unknown mission runner carebear main, who's in quiet average hi-sec alliance.

So the 5 month old Imperial academy alt gets to call other people alts? Troll on your main noobiefry.
In regard to contests and giving back to the community...perhaps a little research on your part is due. I've held countless contests to give away ISK (in the last five years totaling in excess of 100 billion), sponsored events in Eve, on the forums, on Eve Radio, sponsored lotteries, given away officer modules, spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours tutoring people in how to successfully make ISK through different means, donated real money to Eve Radio to keep them on the air, conducted interviews for EON Magazine, and probably most notably.....donated hundreds of hours of my time to creating, writing, and producing music (see my signature) to keep the Eve community at large entertained.
And you....this noobie alt of someone afraid to post with their main is going to show up in a forum thread for a game that they hardly know anything about and tell ME to contribute to the community? You are absolutely, 100% a worthless troll. Go away before I sprinkle salt into your eyeballs.
Sounds like your wife is kinda the key to your possible comeback :)
Anyway, sounds fun having a wife that likes this kind of stuff, my wife isn't pation enough for rpg, she likes the shooty kinda things.
btw, thanx for yur ingame advise

Edited by: Dodiez on 06/10/2009 22:29:35 I was happy and anxious to come back and play Eve. But then the mod turds moved the parody thread from its home of however many years and now it doesn't get the exposure it once did. It's even harder now to introduce the Eve newb to the whole parody thingy. That was disheartening, to be honest.
Then I went to do a mission. And then I remembered why I don't fly missions anymore. Saving damsel for the 32168461535th time? No thanks.
Eve is a sandbox? Sure it is. One that cats poop in. It's not that Eve is a bad game, it's just that it has fantastic potential that hasn't been realized. The lag is still horrible, big battles are almost inevitable, as is the following node death.
One thing that Eve has over other games is community, however even that lately has been, uh, lacking, to be nice. I cannot believe all of the threads that are allowed to live in GD when the parody thread was relegated to the dungeon.
I have a lot of friends that I continually chat to, which is the one reason why I play this game. I can chat to them, mine for forever on auto and then watch a movie all at the same time. Is it the ideal gaming experience? Depends on what day it is.
That's just my take on it. Granted, I would love to find some fun in Eve, but I feel kinda bored too. Anyone have any ideas?

If this was a scam, that would make me a 50 billion ISK scammer, meaning that I'd fall far down the hierarchy of scammers in Eve to somewhere in the *yawn, another scammer* category. Combine that with the pristine reputation I've spent five years building in the community spotlight, the hundreds upon hundreds of billions of ISK that have passed through my hands, not to mention the stupid trolls like yourself that have shown up at every event, contest, lottery, giveaway that I've ever hosted screaming like a newborn that there was definitely going to be a scam involved and they would get the last laugh...
Well, that would make this equal to about the worst scam in Eve then wouldn't it.
I *do* wish that everyone who has ever made this claim of me had not followed my advice of "Don't hold your breath" and displayed such a lack of conviction to the idea of me being a scammer (aside from their willingness to write dumb things). That way, you all would have passed out from lack of oxygen long ago, or something even better . -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |
