I haven't logged into Eve, but if everyone here sent ISK, I should have 4.5 billion ISK left open.
*EDIT* Although if anyone wants to buy a Guardian-Vexor for 40 billion...lemme know.
Question, you seem to rather spend other peoples money instead of liquidizing your own assets, why? Another question, why in the world do you believe your guardian vexor is worth 15b more then others?

I look forward to the threadnaught this will create when Curzon takes the money and declares himself the greatest scammer ever.
Oh sure, sure, call me a troll and dismiss me. When you guys don't get your money back, I'm going to point back to this post and giggle with glee. ---- Blog: My Loot, Your Tears |

1. I've answered this in my first post.
2. I don't. I was responding to someone in an earlier post who said I should sell a vexor for 40 billlion since a 25 billion buyout was met almost immediately on the last sale of one. I actually thought these were worth 5 billion (bought mine for 3, 3.7, and 4 billion respectively back in 2006), and had valued them as such for this IPO. I'm happy to call them 25 billion; although if a buyout for 25 goes so quickly, I'm sure they're worth at least 30 billion.
And Paul...Curzon goes out in a blaze of glory stealing 50 billion ISK and declares himself the best scammer ever! *scoffs* While I do have a flair for liking attention (thus parodies, contests, events, even this IPO) pillaging 50 billion ISK from the Eve community would be rather anti-climatic.
*shrugs* You're not the first person to show up in a thread I made about an event, contest, ISK-making opportunity and scream that its all going to go south one day and they can't wait to shout "I TOLD YOU SO!" Everyone is entitled to their opinion, worthless as it is sometimes, but I'd tell you not to hold your breath. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Well, at the moment I can't find the forum rules. But there's a few things of note in there you'd find interesting - trolling is against the rules, making posts without anything constructive is against the rules, as is name calling or personal attacks.

You have stated that your shinies will not blow up, meaning they will only be sitting in your hangar. I would be willing to invest a few billion if you gave me assets worth an approximately equal amount, which would be returned at the end of the IPO. I can't see any reason not to do this, since you aren't using those assets. Let me know if you are interested.

Why does curzon do that? x below if he's had your posts deleted
also why are they deleted and not edited [troll] style?
man up curzon
Edit, since I'm here: I see you poasting all over the place that every other IPO is a scam, please do tell why yours is not but all others are? And also why you are allowed to post "scam" and others not.

If I give you a Chelm's EANM as collateral, are you going to give me 4 billion ISK? 5 billion ISK? You certainly can't give me less than I paid for it (4 billion) because then you simply bought a cheap officer module that you can turn around and sell at profit. You can't give me 5 billion ISK because then I might just let you keep and and turn a billion ISK profit. Exactly how are you supposed to value my collateral?
Well, all IPO's require some trust. Sometimes in a third party, but they can't happen without some trust. Basically what you are saying is that we can't trust you, and you can't trust us. There is no third party. So why invest again?
Kapila is 100% right. You won't give your assets to a third party, we should just trust you because you once gave .1% of ur wealth away. Percentage wise, I've given away more than that. Trust me?

No, I was being serious.
I said that the value of the collateral should be approximately equal to the value of the investment, meaning that I would be ok with somewhere between 4 and 5 billion isk in your example. Supposing it is worth 4B and I invest 5B, I have 80% collateral, which is still far better than 0%.
Another option is to have collateral held by trusted third parties. This makes your argument less of a problem, because both you and I can trust the third parties.

Also, a comment on trolling. The forum rules state:

My post was definitely not designed to anger or insult anyone. It was intended to discuss the security of your investment and to potentially allow me to invest. I think you are falsely accusing many people of trolling.

Capila, the only reason I suggested that you might not be serious is because officer gear as collateral has always been a touchy issue lacking agreement between loaners and loanees.

So someone wants to invest 4 bill, you want to return 12 bill. But you can't give them an officer mod as collateral because you can't decide whether said mod will fetch 4 or 5 bill on any given day?
1. You say you're worth 150bill, but you aren't willing to give this to a third party (or sell it). 2. You need another 50 bill to do some missions in an officer fit gollem (on meds or something?) 3. ??? 4. Scam a. give me 4 bill worth of **** and I'll give you 4 bill. this means a quick sale, and if you do quit and want to buy back that stuff for 8 or 12 bill then I will obviously sell it to you.
can't for the life of me see how this is legit anymore.

apostrophee, please stop trolling.
I'm worth significantly more than 150 billion. You're a forum alt created specifically to troll posts as your history dictates, so I can't really justify spending time to respond to your inflammatory nature. You aren't a potential investor, and I'm not really worried about your opinion to be honest.

I'm leaving Eve because I feel like there's nothing to do. I've done it all. Most of the activities in Eve revolve around generating ISK. The rest around killing other people. One day you've earned a lot of ISK, bought all the shiny toys, flew them, PvPed in them, and you realize that the only thing left to do that has any purpose is to PvP because there's no point doing any of the ISK generating stuff.
And then while you're working on the PvP angle, you realize that PvP simply isn't fun. After years of "carebearing" it turns out that the PvPers of Eve are even bigger carebears, even more afraid of losing their pixels and digital ships than highsec people.
And then you cajole people into PvPing, offering ludicrous sums of ISK for evenly matched fights just to get some kicks.
And after that, you realize you've done so much work just to have a little bit of fun that its all pointless. So then you start looking for other ways to be entertained. For me, that was in holding contests, writing and singing parodies, and becoming involved in Eve Radio. That kept me going for another year or so.
And in late 2007 or so, I just didn't feel like logging in anymore. I came back a few months ago because I had previously paid billions of ISK in contest prizes for lyrics and stuff, and felt like I was cheating myself not to make a couple more parodies. Which I've done. And now what? My wife (Dodiez) who is herself an avid gamer hates this game because she finds it irrevocably boring, and all I really do is log in and chat anymore anyway.
I can't say that I "won" Eve because there is no winning, but there comes a point when you have to ask "What's the point?"
Don't mean to get anyone else down; Eve is a great game for what its worth. For me, there's just no point to it. -------------------------------------------------- Eve-Online Parodies: Music To Laugh To |

Thanks. :)
One of my friends got me into Eve Online because he told me it was a combination of the market that Everquest wished it was and the PvP that WoW wanted to be.
I was sold. :)
I'm not headed to another MMO...I went from Netdragson (MUD) to Gemstone 3 to Ultima Online to Asheron's Call 2 (best MMO ever made) to Lineage 2 to Everquest 2 to WoW (briefly) to Eve. I was fantastically rich in every one of them...its just what I do well; trading, selling, showmanship.
Since I started Eve until now I've gotten *feels like significantly* older, I've gotten married, bought a house, retired from the military, gotten a second career...needs change. When I was a child, I swore I'd never stop watching cartoons. I don't remember when it happened, but eventually it did. As a teenager I swore I'd never abandon video games, but I find myself playing them less and less.
Its life. :)
I left Eve once before, and came back because I missed making songs about it. I didn't miss the game; having been back a month or so now, I still don't miss anything about the game. I've always been a big fan of helping people, doing events, being part of the community...this is my last gasp. My last big thing. :) Giving away all my stuff.
I can't tell you how many times over the years people have asked me for ISK, or my stuff, or just a tiny billion, or any small charity; the people I've inevitably given ISK to were new(er) players and usually in my NPC corp. Sad to see that NPC corps are getting nerfed with a corp tax; a lot of the folks I've known in DCMI for years are either leaving the corp to make small corps of their own, or leaving Eve.
In fact, that's a perfect opportunity to link this precise expression of feeling towards CCP: Major Whinage.

Entity and people like him toss around billions on a daily basis and I shiver at the thought of giving up a hundred million. I just need to learn how to grapple with the markets.
Reserving 100m if there's still room. ISK is on its way.
Edit: Thinking about it, even if this does turn out to be a scam, by the time the payout would have been released I'll probably have forgotten about the investment anyway, and hopefully made billions more in the markets if I'm successful there. -begins incessantly reading various EVE marketing guides and takes an economics class- *** Awake in a Space-Dye Vest Struggling with Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence Falling Into Infinity toward a New Millennium While trapped inside this Octavarium. |
