They should take back the insurance payout, if it gets you in neg, you can still undock the ships and blow them. People will still get back all their destroyed mods, which is already nice, or at least take all payout but one, and maybe 5 isk / SP or something to everyone to compensate mods that might have been lost.

you should be happy that your enemy now has some more ships to come and fight with.

some of you guys really need to step back and wonder if its a game you are playing or if its your career.
if its a game then just laugh and blow their ships up once again.
if its a career choice then you got a serious problem and need professional help.
personally i havent gotten any ship back since i havent petitioned any of my 2 losses in that period.
GJ CCP on getting a problem out of the way fast so you can concentrate on getting the real work done instead.

Something I've noticed about the "vets" in this game... Most (of the vocal ones) sound like a horse whose spirit has been broken. You're a noob for undocking a BS for a week after a patch. You're a noob for trying a mission the week after a patch. You're a noob for having lost a ship the week after a patch.
But where's your OUTRAGE?@?! Not the outrage at people having been given back ships + free isk. Where's the outrage that every patch released contains so many obvious and critical problems? I rather doubt CCP is returning ships because people lost so many ships the first week. They're returning ships because so many of those lost were their fault (due of bugs or design flaws). You don't get your ship back because you experienced lag. You get your ship back because they found the source of your lag to be code/hardware under their control. People aren't being reimbursed because the queue topped 4,000 petitions. People are being reimbursed because Exodus was not ready for prime time and has so many problem that players were forced to open 4,000 petitions, many for lost ships.
Vets need to "unadapt" and get seriously angry about the lack of QA done on patches before they're marked for release. Don't undock for a week. Don't run missions for a week. Sheesh. What a way to think... Have you really "adapted" to the point that not being able to play for a week you're paying for just because there was a patch is acceptable?
Returning ships and not taking the insurance doesn't seem to be the best move, but perhaps adding all that logic in would have significantly increased the "database cleanup" downtime. But I think we're better off screaming at them to fix their quality assurance problems. If they would quit shooting themselves in the foot, we wouldn't have to worry about what actions (like this) they may take to stop the bleeding.
So put your mantra of "adapt" in the closet and join the rest of us who believe releasing garbage is unacceptable. It's time for CCP to do the adapting.

It's a MMO game. It's obvious you're new to MMO's. This is how it works. Don't like it? Don't play MMO's.

Yeah I haven't had to bother the CSS with a petition for months, so what do I get? 
My take on this whole deal was that the support guys where swamped and wanted/where offered an easy/quick way out.
Cheap and dirty way and very shortsighted one as they've set a precedence that'll come and haunt them the next patch and the next and the next....

The ships got transported to where ever you where docked at DT. So in PA's case that would be deep inside empire
