Actually, if you want to get specific.. there are people that were reimbursed their ship twice over. For example, an alliance member who was given his ship back after dying to lag during that week, can now happily go pick up yet another BS.

Originally by: Nyphur Firstly, I'd like to point out my ship was killed after DT on the 28th due to lag and I didn't get it back. So don't say you gave backall ships lost between the 23rd and the 28th when you mean the downtime of the 23rd and 28th. There's a huge difference.
Same for me. I got back a Thorax that I lost fair and square in a 4/10 complex, the Apoc that died to lag on the evening of the 28th wasn't resurrected. I suppose the petion que can now handle all the petitions of people who lost their ship after DT on the 28th though.

Edited by: Barth3zzzNL on 09/12/2004 21:54:42 Its always nice to see people get rewarded for lacking the skill to use their ship. I kept my battleship alive those days and missed out on 100.000.000 isk...
Wtf, just lovely...
Either Give everyone a free ship or no one, they chose to play on those days while they know the server wasnt running smooth.
Bah... This is bull****... ---------------------------

Edited by: Uther Agnoius on 09/12/2004 21:48:20 4000 petitions? From 4000 customers? What are the numbers 50000 active accounts?
I hope your prepared to anweser 46000 petitions.
If you didn't loose anything and didn't even destroy something you should petition because someone recieved free money from ccp and you didn't. Some 100s of millions of isk.

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 09/12/2004 21:52:04 Ok, I calmed down a bit.
No idea how long it last tho, probably until i start on the petitions I will be sending CCP soon.
There is NO argument to be made for reimburement of ships lost NOT to server issues, except that your service department simply cant handle the queues.
That was a few thousand petitions you wouldn't even have had to work through. You should ahve crossw referenced the causes mentioned and drawn general conclusion of reasonable cause to work form instead.
I got angry all over again now, thank you ccp for showing the disrespect to us you have just shown.
You think the playerbase will applaud this move in general ? Think again.
Think your customer support will have less petition to work through now ? Think again.

But I didn't petition it becuase lag isn't a valid reason to petition for a ship reimbursement.

Why do Evol take everything so serious? CCP had a problem they had to solve; do I agree with the way they solved it? No maybe not; but it is just a *game* after all.
Why do you get so upset? With that nice killboard you got and all the ships you kill it is not like this will be the deciding factor for anything is it?
And to the ppl saying that "now I'm going to petition for my lost ammo!", even if you disagree with ccp's decision - do you think that spamming their petition que with *more* petitions is going to accomplish anything?
I didn't loose anything, and am not getting anything back, but I don't mind really. There is never such a thing as perfect justice, accept that and your life will become a lot easier...

Ok, I'll agree this was a fairly good decision from CCP's standpoint. Now consider this. Why don't I get anything? Why do half the players get something and half of them not?
I say they make a list of everyone who didn't get anything and extend their accounts by 7 days to make up for the time they lost. It's perfectly reasonable to mine a battleship in 7 days, right? This seems like a fair solution. How about it?

The problem is not the reimbursement. We're fine with that.
The problem is the ISK's that are normally removed when reimbursing, in that they haven't been removed.
This is essentially free money, and is unfair.

Okay I think you will see in retrospect this has been a really really bad idea. Probably about the worst idea ever in the history of the game to be honest. The game organisers have really really dropped the ball big time and have created the most appalling precedent for future patches and issues. Its clearly totally without balance and it penalises those who actually read and payed attention to "be careful" warnings on patch day and massively rewards people who played without caution or took part in active pvp combat and lost.
You guys have to shut the door on this fast and satisfy everyone now and hope it can all be forgotten long before you ever deploy another big patch.
My advice?
1. Give everyone a free week and say "very sorry but we've screwed up bigtime"
or.
2. Send every account in the game 100m and "a thanks for being patient with us" note.
or.
3. just roll the whole game back to post-exodus state and start again. Give everyone 2 weeks of account time and hope to god the players are as forgiving and supportive of CCP as they generally seem.
This is one of those times that a company needs to admit it has made a really really serious error that will cost a lot of credibility if its not put right.
Now I don't think hundreds and thousands will leave if you don't put it right, but you will lose a lot of good will and faith you previously had.
And thats my opinion as a 18m skill point veteran who knows patchday is always rough and doesn't leave the hanger in anything bigger than a friggy
