First of all im really sorry for my bad English but please make an effort and keep readying..
Lets go straight on.I m writing here to let you know what do i think about one of important aspects of Pvp engagements.Pvp is complex subject and there is so much stuff that could be said and fill pages of text but there is this one thing no one is speaking about and i find it so important..QUESTION OF MISSING MODELS.
Here is an example:After years of EVE one find him self being master of eve camera option, zooming in and out and using this option in everyday PVP,to check out opponent hardpoints setup.Lets say i did jump whith my AC Rifter true gate and there is enemy Destroyer Thrasher orbiting the gate waiting for me to decloak. While cloaked ill zoom the camera on Trasher and check out his guns and from reconising the guns models i will decide to engage and which tactic im gona use.If the models seams to be arty ill just orbit tight and eliminate the target.Till here it is awsom and everything is working fin.
But what if Thrasher was a Caracal???Ill zoom my camera on that cruiser and i would go:WTF..this guy did not fit any weapons!!!!! AND ILL BE WRONG.He is fitid but there is no models on hardpoint,so i dont have idea dose he have rockets, standards, heavy, assault or torpedoes even.So i dont know which tactic to deploy. WRONG WRONG WRONG. Why oh why is there this disadvantaged situation, why canot i see neutralizers or Nos fitid??????Why there is not any missile launchers models for hardpoints??? What happend whit Remote reping models????
Im asking here a solution and improvement of this rediculos condition where ships whit apparently no hardpoint fitid are abel to fire weapons, reamot repair and neutralize. Please help me get this fixed.

That's a lot of extra work - not that I disagree. But also, cynos should have a model.

Could be,but still most of the models that are missing are the ones that dont nead animation like lets say guns that nead to rotate on hardepoint cose of tracking and stuff, while missile launcher could just be placed there doing nothing but being visibl...same gose for neutralizers and remote rep....

While i applaud your desire to get precise intel on your opponent, you should, after three years, know exactly what you are facing just by looking at the overview and seeing the ships. Seeing as how 99% of the time people just cookie cutter their basic ship layouts, wasting time doing that form of intel would merely be jyst fir fun.
In before the, "i dont use cookie cutter" crowd. |

Ill say that i can easly predict most of fits by ship on my scan or overview screen, and i do welcome your expert like comment but still dont you find that MISSING MODELS ARE ACTUALLY MISSING????

counter to inevitable "OMGZ ITS GANA LAG IT" remarks. large numer of controls to customize the range and number of ships you wish to display fit modules on. Win.
Now all we need is years of art development to make modules look unique, cool and not *******ish for each ship.

It would create alot of lag, but would be nice if every highslot module had a visual model that appeared.
But thats just it... its nice, not high priority.

Your argument is based on incorrect data. Showing all items WILL NOT cause lag for a completely different reason.
Try to see the guns of another ship while the camera is focused on your ship. It's most obvious on a dreadnoughts They aren't there!
Those models only load if they fire or if you set your camera to look at. So this would not create lag. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

The guy may have trouble with English, but he's right about PvP ideas for graphics.
That's what graphics should be all about. And cyno generators should be very clearly visible. Since they have no counters except for being in one of the few cyno jammed systems. |

I'd love to see this implemented. It looks kind of awkward seeing my missiles fly out of the middle of my ship and somehow it's always just one giant missile. A dish looking module on pre-existing hard points for the neuts/nos would be cool too.

I wholeheartedly agree with this suggestion.
Whilst it will undoubtedly change the rules of PvP engagements it a glaring imbalance in the current game and needs to be addressed.
Why should ships fit with turrets be able to be second guessed whilst missile boats remain mysterious?

I agree with Praz on the missing weapon models. A caracal can be AML (assault missile) fit or a HML (heavy missile) fleet fit. Knowning which missile the opponent is packing is great intel for solo pvp and to some extent, small gang pvp.
Some of you might say, "Why not let him shoot you once and then you'll know what he is packing?" - Some opportunities just present themselves once, and sometimes its just too dangerous to do that.

Personally I think the models shouldn't be distinct at all for guns either. You want to know what your opponent is fitting? Use a ship scanner.

Actually, ship scanner will still have its uses since the models would only show high slot fits. But to get med slot and low slot fittings you need ship scanner.
Also as far as game enjoyment goes - it's a proven fact that gamers really enjoy looking at custom characters (ships in our case). Just look at all the MMORPGs out there - they all let people look different depending on what equipment they wear. Really good equipment looks especially good - thus letting people show off in a crowd. It's part of human nature - to dress up nice and show off. If we can't really see any difference between people, if everyone looks like a standard issue clone, people feel less interested in the game.
It's smart move to customize graphics, both for sake of PvP and getting more customers.

Sorry, but, after 3 years of intense Pvp you really shouldn't need! To look at a ship, if it's a pvp ship there are a handful of fashionable setups people use. Being a master cold read and have fun

Hmm, wondered about this too, you can even see if rails/blasters are tech 1 or tech 2 just by merely zooming in for example, you cant with earlier mentioned gun models, for certain situations this could be vital information...

First off: If you don't know what the missile ships are after "3 years of intense PvP" something doesn't add up. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a Drake is going to shoot missiles at you.
Second: As for the rest of the non-visible modules, its not really not needed. Use your brain. Is this ship commonly fit with neuts? Does this corporation have capitals and are they hot drop happy? Is this ship obvious bait (like a Scorpion/Falcon that is tackling you by any chance)? Are these hostile ships close enough to each other for RR? Is it common of the corporation I am fighting for them to fit such things.
The ability to decipher and make informed decisions is a great portion of what makes up a great PvPer, don't water it down because you can't figure out that a killboard isn't just used for ****ing over your own stats.

Another expert... Man i did not ask for your opinion on my PVP.I just want some mising models to be bring into game. An killbor is for stats acording to one of tham you like to fly a ship whith mislls (read Drake) gank ppl whith your friends( read 5 vs 1) and you have 611 kills, while my KB stats show up 2493 kills and lot of tham solo. So show some respect befor giving lessons on pvp and brain usage. Thx for your post anyway
