character selection
in game
Basically skin colour got lighter, portait lighting got brighter, hair changed colour slightly and is shorter... which prevents the hair from clipping through the ear in this particular hairstyle.
Also the jacket got "fixed", meaning instead of black it now is beige/brown as can be seen on the little jacker picture in the character creator.

I created the character like 20 minutes ago, logged it into the game cause I also wanted to look at the "neo neocom", logged out five minutes later to backup the character pictures for that thread you linked.
To make it short: both of the images are very, very, very likely still the locally rendered ones.
I'll update how it looks once I get the server rendered pictures tomorrow.
Edit: To further clarify what I want to say: the first picture is from the character selection screen, NOT from the character creator, the second one is the picture used in chatchannels.

Played around with the new character creation. I did enjoy it, although I think so more options for clothe articles and hair. I think it would also help if there was a scroll bar under each area so you can scroll through the choices. Tried scroll the current way and a few times it did not move the choices, but moved the character. Other than that, I love the new character creator and can't wait for it to come out. Nice work! ཀཐ٦རམ ٦ཏཤནཟཤ

Not a man per se, but from smallish pictures I think she would improve if you would drag the brow down and back a little bit, from the extreme corners. Also she could benefit from a little more "meat" just beneath the brow and above the eyelid. But it's somewhat hard to judge clearly from the picture you've posted.
It's quite easy to become blind to what you're doing, I find myself wondering why the screenshot I took a couple changes ago isn't as nice as thought it was as the new version was much better
It's such a complicated interplay of different things it's all about proportion to everything else. Hard to get it right. It's hard even to get the same result today when I have a bunch of screenshots from yesterday. Took a couple of hours until I think I was able to recreate my "muse". |

Tried this out.
Clearing the Cache got rid of the first picture, while the second appears in place of the [!] once I click on the character.
So, conclusion: The first picture is/was a simple screenshot of the character creator while the second one is client rendered (because from looking at the other thread I gather that the server rendered pictures look much nicer)

I'm not overly happy with the turn the new editor has taken. I mean: I looked like a cute latina girl (with too thick lips) and look what they make of me!! Bruce Lee with breasts???
I managed to make something acceptable of it but I can never ever get my pretty latina looks and hairstyle back in the new editor. A great step back in my opinion, I would never have picked this bloodline in the current editor's options!!
Booh!

Have to say I agree with this to an extent... seems that you've made one bloodline of each race appear very Asian - Vherokior being the most pronounced, if this is how it's intended to be on release then either we need more control over some details - the eyes particularly in this case or a one off bloodline change.

Most of the issues I had with character creation have been covered by other people. Here's a few things that stand-out in my mind that haven't been discussed much that I saw.- Many sculpting areas sculpt differently depending on what angle you view it from. There should be a visual indicator to show which axis you're scultping on (front, size, perhaps even top-down). Some adjustments aren't immediately evident because of this, and other areas can be difficult to customize if your viewing angle is wrong.
- At higher resolutions (1680x1050 and up) there's a lot of wasted room on the interface. Some of the interface could be moved back to the left side of the screen, like it was before (and make some of the selection windows bigger).
- The creation background could stand to be changed, or give us a few simple options so we can contrast the looks of our character better (basic, flat-colored backgrounds are oftentimes preferred). I was remaking this character, but with all of the black I wear, it was a little difficult seeing certain details.
- Posing lighting could use a completely different interface. Light color, intensity, and angle should be all set independently from each other, as opposed to a bunch of preset options. Color and Intensity could remain selectable from drop-down menus (or better-yet, a color palette). Light angle ideally would allow us to rotate the light source (or multiple sources) around our avatar - or at the very least have a number of preset lighting angles, with each preset able to be toggled on and off (and what the light & intensity it would have if turned on).
- Overweight toons are difficult to make - at most you can give them a bit of a belly, but it doesn't really make them look "fat" or in the case of women, makes them look about 5 months pregnant (aside note: That could make for an interesting RP character)
- Breasts look a lot better than they did before, but there's still room for improvement. Much of it is how the bra & clothes are interacting with the breasts - specifically in how they look more like they're painted on, with little or no cleavage. Also the slider range for them could be better. Currently, it appears the minimum size is around a B-Cup, and the maximum is around a D-Cup. There are many women that naturally fall outside of those ranges, from completely flat-chested to extremely large.

Originally by: Ishtair i am somewhat disappointed in the lack of futuristic/sci-fi clothing options. everything i've seen so far look too "normal" and too ordinary better belonging into some teenie series about some teenage superheroes or emo vampires.
what i'd personally like to see are tight sci-fi-/military-looking bodysuits fully covering the body of a character up to the neck with some armor plates located in appropriate places, following the bodyshape a bit.
something in the lines of following designs: http://www.abload.de/img/phantom_front-thumb-55bzhz.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/nice_ninja_by_elconsigm9lm.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/survivor_in_disguise_bfylj.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/pchat__suit_up_by_kiikql1h.png http://www.abload.de/img/ffc90bfbeefaa10d7391feya3b.jpg or these if you ignore the huge arms/shoulders/helmets and look at the torso designs: http://www.abload.de/img/29074adba5fdf940b00efdh91f.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/moe120711bodysuitgantz59n4.jpg with some more military/sci-fi looking gadgets over the entire body.
the current clothing options are really boring IMO, not fitting the image of a badass ship commander in a vast sci-fi universe. and to be very blunt: something like this + WiS/Incarna = massive influx of new players
same goes for glasses and gadgets for the head: brutors with aviator glasses are pretty iconic, so they are perfectly fine, but i'd wish there were some more visors in lines of Mass Effect designs like this one, maybe only covering one eye and bit less bright - representing the concept of "augmented reality". communicators plugged into ears and similar gadgets would be pretty cool, too(old achura style).
i understand that clothes options might be not that high on the top priority of character creation development right now, but it's my last chance to give feedback on the official forums before my account expires, so there it is.

ROBES FOR GALLENTE, seriously, the art and democracy driven nation wears synthetic leather and pants with kneepads? like the most artists here has a Yamaha R1 and likes extreme skateboarding. And straight hair for Gallente men! i mean seriously long, and women with longer hair, and at least add pure Black and pure White colors, please. Gallenteans are not remakeable until you add extravagance to them. please do not release it until you add more of everything (body/eye/lip/head size changers, tucking of shirts and pants, and damn hairstyles, and clothing and COLORS)

Well, some of that did look cool, but really - I want to see the kind of military stuff we see in the chronicles artwork. The fur collar on this would look great on my Caldari lady - as would the skulls on the sleeves... It came from here...
Edit 1: Oh, while I'm on the subject of that image -- wtb props for portraits... :) Posing with a cigarette/cigar would look awesome on some chars...

yes, that's why Mass Effect and Tron Legacy are totally made in Asia, right? you may not like this kind of stuff, and it's fine, there should be enough redneck clothes of pure western origin for your liking somewhere, but there is nothing wrong with expanding on the sci-fi clothing style a bit. those asian blood lines already present in eve could make a great use out of it.

Well, I decide it was time I made an Amarr video - but after the results, I've decided to re-do it before I go near YouTube.
The problem was the 'gravity solver' and how it treats robes.
I made a fat guy, and as I only planned on wearing robes, I skipped Tops, and Went straight to Boots. I then found a Top to put on him, but his belly stuck right through it - so I took it off, found the Robes, and...
He stopped being fat. His belly vanished, as the robes settled over him, but his boots stuck through those. As did his left arm. So I swapped the boots for shoes. Problem solved... Until I tried to go into Portrait-mode.
Even if you're wearing neck-to-floor robes, you can't go in to have your picture taken unless you're wearing trousers....
So, I gave him a pair, and this is what happened... :(((

- The colour bars are too dark (too small) and do not resemble the output.
- A capability to save the morph target parameters for later use would be very welcome.
- In portrait mode the snapshot camera seems to have a deviation (my guess ca. 10¦) from the main camera. This is annoying if you want to make your avatar look directly into the camera.
- I think we urgently need more long hair styles or the Khanid and Achura female chars (when being recreated from the original avatars) will all look the same.

Ok where to start.
Sebiestor all look the same now and nothing like they did. Essentially instead of looking like a brooding, p**sed off, tattoed, tribal warrior the best I can get now is a slightly effeminate looking columbian with a bad eye and a fetish for leathers.
Even my original hair style is missing so unless I now want to look like an effeminate looking columbian with a bad eye and a fetish for leathers with a elvis style quiff or some nice shiny wavy girly locks, I am to choose my words carefully, f*****d.
You also appear to have forgotten to add in the ability to add tattoos which is pretty critical to the Minmatar characters.
Oh and the limiting of clothes to "stereotypical leathers" is p*** poor.
You say it is a WIP. Well I can guarantee that it feels like a WIP to me. A half finished one.

A lot of people missed out on the links last time (or aren't on Facebook) so...
>>> Tattoos haven't been forgotten <<<
They're just not ready yet...
And UI Feedback...
When in Portrait-mode, you can rotate a persons' body by clicking on their shoulder for example, and 'pulling' them around to the position you'd like - but it doesn't work (it seems) if you put on Amarr robes. You don't get the 'Rotate' icon, when you hover the mouse over the body.

Differences versus the original portrait are that the in-game version has much darker lighting, and the sunglasses look more opaque (both of which are improvements). Likely I just wasn't seeing proper lighting in the Creator on the recommended settings. Also, the long hair seems to blend directly into the jacket, making it look like the hair is a hoodie.
I don't think the Creator should allow settings that produce such unpredictable, uncontrollable end results. We may as well use it on the highest settings since it lags no matter what.

Chief points of irritation:
1) Can the character please *stop moving* when I am trying to sculpt. Or even just give us a switch to turn movement on or off. The continual movement rapidly becomes unsettling, and even uncomfortable to watch.
2) The clothing is so contemporary "Earth 2010 young people's clothes", I really hope the final selections will be far far more creative!
3) Albino option????

Some thoughts after playing with the character creator for a bit again. Using high shaders.
- Styles of clothes and haircuts so far are all too 2010. Realistic doesn't have to mean 'like present day'.
- Sculpting might sound good on paper, but it feels really annoying in practice. Hunting for hotspots, experimenting to see which axes are adjustable this time, rotating the character to see if the third axis does anything (and accidentally grabbing some other hotspot). All while the character is constantly shifting around. "Did I adjust something or did she just move a bit/change her expression?"
- Some numeric values would be nice to see. Along with an import/export function.
- Menus are frustrating to use, especially in low FPS situations. Hard to get it scrolling and when you finally do, it usually goes too fast or too far or just resets back to its original position.
- Portrait mode could use some kind of 'reset expression' button.
- Options to adjust eye shape felt really limited (at least on Gallente female), which is sad with the eyes being the focal point of the face and all that. Maybe it's just to differentiate between the bloodlines?

No scars? I kinda liked the giant gash along my face in my old avatar.
As mentioned before the avatar moves when editing them which makes it hard to grab and edit some of the features.

Would be nice to have
Different sunglasses shape and style, possibly some caps, bandanas, head bands.
Also my female portrait doesn't look as KIND as my original one. You can not make your avatar smile, it tends to grin and look cunning instead.
Finally background animations need some looking into, diversity is required. Ones from original character creator are far better.

The right panel of menus always hides some menus, when you open up others. Can you please introduce a VERTICAL sliding panel there? See 3D Studio Max for this kind of menus.
It's when I'm putting on clothes I can't have all the clothes options open, cause the rest of the menu for hair, skin, etc. still needs space, although I'm done using them. If the menu would be able to scroll vertically I could have all 5 clothing submenus open.
Also, the hair submenu does miss a 'X' for removing the feature as every other submenu has got it. Even toggling the hair would go a long way, as it's the most resource crippling FX we got there, afaik.
PS: I still want back the option for adjusting EYE-BALL-SIZE!
PPS: expression modification got a shaft this time round. Can't really do anything to the eyes, nose or cheeks. Was better in first iteration of the feature. Most of my chars end up in the neutral position as the only thing that really works is a SAD face.. smiling looks somehow sad too, unless you settle for a really really faint adjustment to the lips. Anything else and it just went downhill. Might be mostly due to the eye/eye-brow part of the expressions.. can't get them not-sad.
