Why buff the Gallente? I understand blasters may need a small overhaul but HOLY CRAP Gallente are awesome.
I will take a Rifter in my Tristan or Incursus ANY day.
Taranis - anyone who brings up how the Dramiel is better just STFU because you are dumb. This is a GREAT interceptor. and a dramiel is a PIRATE SHIP get that through your ignorant heads.
Ishkur - I've flown Ishkurs, and so have you and we all know Ishkurs rip. may not kill every jag out there and may not break a vengeance's tank but it still is great.
Enyo - my favourite AF because no one likes it. Enyo frikkin owns stuff up. huge dps with good ehp and speed.
Vexor - solo ownage 1600 plate or cap injected duel MAR is winsauce
Thorax - triple MFS plate and DCU with full tackle and decent speed you will mess people up with a well flown thorax alternativly dual 150mm Rails with shield buffer and duel Overdrives with 24km point and you have a solo own mobile.
Ishtar - Next to the Vaga, this is THE BEST solo HAC in the game. even better than a sacrilege.
Deimos - again this ship owns with either rails or blasters.
Myrmidon - ownage
brutix - ownage
I have no experience with anything bigger but the entire Gallente lineup, for me, so far has been solo ownage platforms with always good speed, good tank, and lots of dps. I have no experience in fleet warfare but in the realm of solo pvp in both lowsec and nullsec, Gallente are top dogs.

So the part where the Dramiel gives up a small amount of dps for vastly superior speed, range, and tank is just a trivial detail?
Quote: Ishkur - I've flown Ishkurs, and so have you and we all know Ishkurs rip. may not kill every jag out there and may not break a vengeance's tank but it still is great.
No, it really isn't. It's frigate hull that's too slow to tank cruiser guns, and doesn't have enough dps to bother bringing.
Quote: Enyo - my favourite AF because no one likes it. Enyo frikkin owns stuff up. huge dps with good ehp and speed.
And only two mids, which means you have to drop either the web or the point. And in exchange for that crippled slot layout, you get mediocre dps on a slow ship with poor tank. No thank you.

The Ishtar is a terrible solo HAC because a good solo HAC needs to be able to GTFO when things start to go badly. Guess what happens to your expensive drones when you do that in an Ishtar.

@Merin, you are a TOTAL MORON. You need to realize that you're comparing A) a Taranis (which is an interceptor frig) to a Dramiel (the most "op" PIRATE FACTION frig in the game), and B) a Vexor and Thorax (TECH ONE CRUISERS) to a Hurricane (A GODDAMN BATTLECRUISER). And then you compare a myrmidon to a Dominix? Total complete and utter smeghead. Ishkur speed tanks fine and has lots of dps to kill lots of things, and I know the enyo only has two midslots that's why it's hard for a lot of people to use. If you CAN use it though (like me), it is a very solid AF for most purposes. The ishtar is an INCREDIBLE solo hac because of the following setup: Dual prop, dual web. I love my ishtar.
P. S. Rail Thorax has better tracking than a 425 nano hurricane. You don't know jack.
@ Omara, thanks for reminding me of daredevil and stuff. I actually never flew those faction ships yet but my eftwarrioring tells me they will do very well when I get around to trying them out.

And your point is? They fill the same role, they get compared. Deal with it.
Quote: and B) a Vexor and Thorax (TECH ONE CRUISERS) to a Hurricane (A GODDAMN BATTLECRUISER).
And your point is? Insurance makes them cost effectively the same, and the nanocane actually has better speed and agility than the cruisers. Anything the Vexor and Thorax can do, the Hurricane does better.
Quote: And then you compare a myrmidon to a Dominix? Total complete and utter smeghead.
Of course I do. Once you're done armor rigging that over-tanked Myrmidon, you're as slow as a battleship so you might as well just bring a battleship instead. More dps, more neuts, more tank. What's not to like?
Quote: The ishtar is an INCREDIBLE solo hac because of the following setup: Dual prop, dual web. I love my ishtar.
Repeat after me: Lose. Your. Drones.
It doesn't matter what modules your Ishtar can fit when you lose a set of T2 heavy/sentry drones every time local spikes.
Quote: P. S. Rail Thorax has better tracking than a 425 nano hurricane. You don't know jack.
Dual 150mm Railgun II with CNAM: 0.0525 rad/s
425mm Autocannon II with Barrage: 0.11736 rad/s
You do realize that larger numbers are better for tracking, right? -----------

Nobody in their right mind compares Taranis and Dramiel. The one is a throwaway interceptor, the other a hilariously expensive pirate frigate.

Hint: Fittings changed considerably with the AC buff. Speed mods of any kind are a waste of slots that are much better invested in gank, range and buffer.
Also it is a battlecruiser, which these days amounts to a blob magnet already. The cheap solo pvp cruiser you are looking for is the shield rupture.

Dram and Ranis don't fill the same roles. Eve players use them for the same roles, but they're totally different ships. I would never fly a dual prop dram.
Ok so Hurricane is better than: Moa, Caracal, Omen, Maller, Vexor, Thorax... scratch it, Cane is just better than anything smaller than a BC. Yup, time to nerf minmatar and buff gallente right YAY OMG!
Repeat after me: Tony. Has. Ishtar. Experience. Lots. Of. It. If you lose your drones, tough. That just means you'll get scrammed and webbed when flying a minnie ship because you're too incompetent to kite or keep your drones alive.
Oh and about the tracking thing, I just assumed it has better tracking because a) I have no problems tracking anything but fast frigates (which pose no threat to me) and because of the caliber sizes.
You honestly haven't got a clue. Start comparing Ceptor to Ceptor, cruiser to cruiser and quit being a moron.

Whats the big deal about losing drones anyways?
If you cant afford a replacement flight, you have no business sitting in a HAC in the first place. (And you probably cant afford faction ammo for your battlecruiser either.)
Whats a flight of Berserkers these days, about 3mil ISK? Thats pocket change really.
@Tony: If you like the Ishtar, try out the Gila. Its cheap as chips, and the much better pvp drone cruiser imo.

Err, what? The AC buff is what made the nanocane awesome.
PS: why sacrifice gank or range for speed? 3x gyro, 2x TE, 3x polycarbon rigs. You're still faster and more agile than most cruisers.
Quote: Also it is a battlecruiser, which these days amounts to a blob magnet already. The cheap solo pvp cruiser you are looking for is the shield rupture.
The point is that the nanocane is faster and more agile than the old Thorax/Vexor/etc setups. If you're too slow to avoid the blobs in a nanocane, you sure as hell aren't going to help yourself by swapping it for a T1 cruiser.
As for the Rupture, it's overrated. DPS isn't very impressive, tank is weak, and your cap won't last very long. It's better than a Vexor, but not by much.
Originally by: Omara Otawan If you cant afford a replacement flight, you have no business sitting in a HAC in the first place. (And you probably cant afford faction ammo for your battlecruiser either.)
1) It's annoying, and it eats the profit margin on solo PvP. When it costs 3 million ISK to warp out of a fight, that's 3 million more ISK you have to recover from loot before you're making a net profit.
2) Losing your drones leaves you unprepared for the next fight. Maybe that's not so bad if you just camp one system, but if you actually want to go roaming in your solo ship it really sucks to have to fly 20 jumps back home to re-stock your drones. -----------

Wait. So players use them for the same roles, but they don't fill the same roles. You sound very confused...
Quote: Ok so Hurricane is better than: Moa, Caracal, Omen, Maller, Vexor, Thorax... scratch it, Cane is just better than anything smaller than a BC.
Exactly. The only thing a Moa, Omen, Maller, Vexor or Thorax is good for is reprocessing for minerals to build a Hurricane. AML Caracals are nice though, for turning expensive pirate frigates into lossmails.
Quote: Repeat after me: Tony. Has. Ishtar. Experience. Lots. Of. It. If you lose your drones, tough. That just means you'll get scrammed and webbed when flying a minnie ship because you're too incompetent to kite or keep your drones alive.
Let me explain this for you:
You are here: (X)
Your sentry drones are here: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- (X)
Local just spiked by 30. Do you:
a) Spend time MWDing over to your sentry drones and pray the blob doesn't arrive before you can recover them.
or
b) GTFO and take the loss.
Quote: Oh and about the tracking thing, I just assumed it has better tracking because a) I have no problems tracking anything but fast frigates (which pose no threat to me) and because of the caliber sizes.
IOW, you made a stupid assumption and got caught. The fact that you called me an idiot when I was actually correct just makes it even more hilarious.
Quote: You honestly haven't got a clue. Start comparing Ceptor to Ceptor, cruiser to cruiser and quit being a moron.
Comparing class to class is irrelevant, unless you're in a very specific scenario where only certain classes are allowed (such as a FW plex). Comparing role to role is what actually matters when choosing a ship, and here the nanocane trashes the Vexor/Thorax. -----------

Sacrificing 20% of your EHP for a mere 180ms extra speed and not even 2 seconds better align time. Bad choice.
Anyway, most solo pvp cruisers these days (even Thoraxes) are flown with shield fits, for the slow cruisers the speed advantage is negligible and the agility advantage doesnt exist, for the faster cruisers both dont exist.

Given that the 180m/s (more if you have snakes and/or a covops alt and gang mod) speed increase is what takes the Hurricane from being "fast for a BC" to "faster than a cruiser", I'd say it's a pretty good choice. 20% more EHP won't help you against anything you can't already gank, but 200m/s or more of extra speed can be the difference between looting the wreck and watching the target MWD away and warp out.
Quote: Anyway, most solo pvp cruisers these days (even Thoraxes, and not only due to the outrageous price of trimarks compared to the hull price) are flown with shield fits, for the slow cruisers the speed advantage is negligible and the agility advantage doesnt exist, for the faster cruisers both dont exist.
Ok, so let's say everything is shield tanked, even 3-mid Thoraxes which apparently don't even need to be able to tank fire from an Ibis. Fine. The Hurricane has no speed or agility advantage. What it still has is damage and tank.
I don't see why this is really complicated, the Hurricane gives you the speed of a cruiser, but the firepower and tank of a battlecruiser. Why would you ever want to fly a cruiser instead? -----------

Scan resolution makes the difference more than speed, especially if its not even 200ms. A better buffer enables you to take on fights instead of just ganks. (And yea, I use a Loki booster quite regularly.)
A 40k EHP Hurricane is about the time I'd seriously consider dropping another 10k EHP and just using the Vagabond instead.
Quote: I don't see why this is really complicated, the Hurricane gives you the speed of a cruiser, but the firepower and tank of a battlecruiser. Why would you ever want to fly a cruiser instead?
Its simple. I fly in rather densely populated lowsec areas most of the time, flying a solo flashy red battlecruiser around ends up with being blobbed in seconds. It is a big enough target that small gangs are willing to chase you around.
My Rupture on the other hand tends to fly below the radar, most people dont bother to follow if they didnt get the initial tackle. And it also gets a lot more targets willing to stay for the fight than my Hurricane does.
Its also quite a bit cheaper.
