No, clothing is destroyed when you get podded, but if you had a stack on monocle's in your cargo hold they will drop like normal.
We are naked in Pods. If we buy the stuff, it should never get destroyed since we dont bring it with us. Read your Lore.

Alright. I can understand why you want these to be destructible and I'm okay with it. Markets don't function very well without the chance of loss. Keeping clothing in your pod is ridiculous from a PF perspective. All art to date has suggested that a pod is three things: A shell, some goo, and a bunch of tubes to connect to the pilot and ship. There's no personal effects bin in there. So instead of going halfway, make it lost on ship destruction or even include a built-in wear-out timer. That said, there needs to be a way to safely stow these items or the market is going to lose a lot of interest and become dysfunctional due to low volume instead.
More distressingly, your apparent intent to decimate the current selection of clothing is seriously not awesome. Removing choices from players without an important overriding reason is bad. This isn't learning skills, which became mandatory and thus pointless. It's not agent divisions, which were arcane and frustrating. It's just space gap. The game will not break if you allow us to continue to recustomize from within the current options. The market for snazzier clothing will not break.

I just realised how this will work. When you buy some supoer pimp bit of clothing/shiprespray/whatever with your Au you don't actually GET it, you just get a 1 run bpc for said item, up to you then go acquire the resources to make it ingame yourself

Inevitably, everything that can be purchased with AUR must be destructible, or CCP will need to release new content nearly constantly.
If AUR vanity items can not be destroyed, then the market will reach a saturation point, AUR purchases (AUR=PLEX=CASH) will go down and that revenue stream for CCP will slow and perhaps end.
If CCP is forced to release new content, to generate new excitement and keep AUR purchases up, then they must also pay someone to create that content, also eating into the profitability of vanity items.
If CCP allows players to create content, then CCP must manage, examine and "fix" all that content, also eating into the profitability of vanity items.
If CCP allows vanity items to be destroyed, then players will eventually figure this is just silly to pay for something that does nothing for them in game, except maybe get them some cyber from a fat guy eating Doritos and swilling cheap beer.
I for one will be a five year plus old multi billionaire cyber-virgin player walking around in the bright orange noob jump suit happily flying around my generic ever so unimpressive looking ship. The day that the orange jump suit, or the generic paint job effects game play, I leave the game, and on that day, sure you can have my stuff, because it'll all be pointless.
Until that day, I have a number of openings for cyber hookers willing to get it on with ugly noobs in orange jump suits. There will be no casting couch interview requirement. Decent grammar required, voice verification required.

Originally by: Master Tron Good job CCP, you will lose 50% of players who wanted to play this game. Now there is only ones left who buy this game with RL money. If they decide that eve is bad they don't buy the GTC anymore and now eve online will be at point where ballance is what the customers do, if they keep leaving, (remember the ones who play this game basicly free has friend who buy GTC - buddy program) then this game will go upside down.
While I admit that CCP should tune one of their sales angles from "play for free" to something much more explicitly of a puzzle/challenge angle along the lines of "and if you're really really good, you could figure out how to play for free" (similar to how Eris Discordia at a Fanfest long ago laid down the challenge in a fun way of "and if you're really good you get your wife to mine for you" ), your argument really is not that well made.
You are basing it on an expectation of easy, simple, straight forward enablement. Straight forward yes, but EVE is not designed to be easy or simple, truth be told it depends on the opposites of each.
Word of mouth is the most important factor yes, both in sales and retention. But it is not the impression that is the pitch in that, but the stories. Subtle but significant difference.
As for the 50% of players you state CCP will loose, I'm sure you have a user survey or several ones which can provide tangible data on that.
Originally by: Master Tron BUT before you call me an idiot, if you manage to control the PLEX / ISK value as it is, then this game is doing fine, but you need to not just keep eye on it, but to work very hard times on it! There is always someone who want to make more ISK.
The only thing CCP controls is the monetary value of PLEX. Yes, it still allows RMT to structurally and consistantly "undercut" so to speak, but CCP is on that ball. More so than in the past. Sure, they are not yet at the point of full awareness on how RMT was ahead of CCP in moving to adapt towards item and service sales, but I am sure that since CCP knows that their people's livelihoods depend on business functioning they will figure that out, engage on it, and deal with it. It may not be a campaign that can ever be won, but they can win the battles.
I do agree that PLEX is becoming much more of an instrument part of a whole set of tools CCP utilises to guide the dynamic. But that is really not the same thing as what you are suggesting in terms of a required minute control. You're in a sandbox, inside a social dynamic where economy is derivative of that. We leave our mark. Sure, EVE is not self correcting an sich. We're part of both foundation, glue, lube and instrumentation ourselves.

We are treating it as the cloths you are wearing are stored in your pod so you have cloths to wear when exiting your pod at the next station.
So each station builds us a captains quarters each time we dock but they don't remember to provide us with some clothes. Somehow I'm seeing this whole Incarnia thing in a new light.

If I take off my cloths and put on my 'orange overalls' and get podded and my jump clone is on the other side of the galaxy from where I changed my cloths at, are my cloths waiting for me there? Essentially what I'm asking is do the cloths you buy follow you around eve in your captains quarters closet or are they only available where you purchased them? (sorry not sure if I'm making sense here...)
The current functionality is - the new "store clothing" assets are items. The best behavior to liken them to is implants that happen to be removable.
If you take of your expensive clothes, they appear in your hangar (in Jita for example). If you fly to pator, well, those clothes are still in Jita. If you want to have a spare set, you (or someone) needs to transport the clothes the old fashioned way.
if you do this, and let e clear I'm in support of it 100%
the prices need to come down down down. by like 40% or more. make it so there are really are really expensive clothing, and cheap clothing for new players/ you just undocked and just want to go to value village and buy some cheap pants.
I' just saying. Also my main fear was you could use clothing fro anywhere so all in all... good change!
just want something to sell to new players who are struggling to buy their 1st rifter.

This is an extremly bad idea!
I have nothing against small amounts of microtransactions for vanity items...
...but this is one step too far CCP!
So I can loose my vanity items that I paid with real money permanently? Are you serious? Really? Some jackets, shoes, glasses and shirts will be worth more than any battleship or implant. And then you are talking about immersion... riiiight. On top of that, you will take away all the options we currently have with the recustomization and then charge real money for them? I never heard of something that stupid! No offense meant, but this is a big mistake.
I've respected you guyes at CCP for most of the time, but now even I'm loosing faith rapidly.
Bying something from the Item-Shop should permanantly add it to the account or character which bought it. It should not be an item ingame that can be lost. You should only charge for vanity items that are new and keep the current set as free. I've heard of no item shop in any other game that does such a stupid thing with vanity items. Stay away at creating a market with those items that are bought by real money, it is a very bad idea. You are taking the fun out of the game and make it into a business for your players...

Just charge more for subscriptions and expand the clothing choices and add a ship workshop like need for speed with their cars. Then there is no messing around with the basic core of the game.

You guys completely fail to appreciate the genius of CCP.
Even if everybody says "I will never buy these items for RL money" there will be enough people selling PLEX (to get ISK for different stuff) and enough people buying AUR with ISK (via PLEX) that CCP will be able to proclaim a huge success.
In CCP's world MTs cannot fail, so expect to see excited devblogs about their acceptance and even more MT items.

interesting, i probably won't be using it but what i think would be cool is if later when pilots can meet in stations, alliances or corps can open their own stores with one or more uniform of their own and choose who to sell them to.
traitors could give them away or bribe a member, you could get your enemies uniforms as trophees somehow, this store could be a good basis for a fun mechanic.

Edited by: Alex Roggen on 27/05/2011 17:15:04 1. Are we creating a new type of money so you can track the amount of CCP income generated for the microtransactions in order to understand how to fund the resource time? Couldn't that be done with customized reports?
2. New monetary name is terrible... Please allow players to vote on a few choices for it rather than just internally manage it.
3. I love the fact that vanity items can be destroyed.
4. Please allow some contests for player generated outfits designs like you have been doing with the ships. I think that would be fun.

I'm to old for this sh*t with fancy clothes, monocles and stuff. But if I understood this correctly, I don't have to participate in it either if I don't care.
But I suppose it WILL appeal to a younger audience - like people the age of my kids who play Sims and Battlefield Heroes.
So the average age of EVE players will drop, 'cause they are attracted by this specific type of "bling-bling-based immersion".
My kids, and other kids, will swarm over new Eden in their pink coloured Zealots, wearing silly Terminator-monocles and "Hello Kitty" T-shirts, drinking Quafe++ to boost their speed bonus and listening to "Lady Gaga" in the in-game jukebox while behaving even worse in chat than the lowest moments in the Swedish-channel of today (and that's low I tell you!).
Talk about dark future, eh! Or perhaps bling future.
...oh well, I suppose it had to come to an end sooner or later anyway...sigh.

Asking both these questions again, hoping for a reply.
1. When I created my character I chose an outfit. Will I always have instant access to this outfit wherever I go? Will I lose it when podded and have to shell out gold for it?
2. Does the new "vision" for waking up in a fresh medical clone increase the time it takes to get back out into space?

Aurum leaving the cycle due to destruction feels very similar to the house cut of a casino.
I think it would be fair if players get statistical data about how much RL cash leaves the loop in this way.
