2 questions:
1) So if your cloths are lost when you are podded, is there any way to recover cloths from frozen bodies? ('do they drop' would be another way to ask that) There should be. I want to wear only the bloody rags of my victims.
2) If I install a stripper pole and stripper and a fish tank, are they waiting for me in my captains quarters in every station I dock, or just the one they were installed at?

Originally by: Katrishar Again, I think this system sounds awesome. Quick question though.... When we go down to just having 1 "noob ship" style default outfit after being podded, will there be the other character customization screen outfit choices available for "cheap?" In general will you have cheap and expensive clothes? I vote for this.
Short answer is yes. This first pass is simply a tracer bullet to gauge response. The future vision is that after being podded you will wake up in a clone bay in a medical gown. Then you will get your free orange noobie overalls (or whatever we come up with) but there will be all sorts of inexpensive stuff on offer to change into or maybe you weren't wearing your favorite stuff anyway and you can just put that one.
Two comments / concerns.
1. Tracking that, aka building the metrics. If this will take an angle of measuring across accounts without correcting this for account ownership / character use / character + account relations that will severely upset the figures on effective adoption and recognisable patterns.
I really hope, that this will be taken into account. Not only did you design us to be schizofrenic, you also designed our environment in space to reward being very schizofrenic. I realise this is difficult, in a sense of diverting from statistical analysis methods (what players tend to call "snapshot" angle), but it is perfectively doable since you do have the data in house. Getting the metrics right, is worth it. After all, we have seen over the years severe discrepancies between CCP's metrics "by snapshots" and effective situation within the environment.
2. Why not have a few base versions of jumpsuits. Nothing fancy, consider them something like what pilots wear beneath their flightsuit. Offer a few base colour variants in this, and let people engage in creating their own patterns with this. Not only will this provide a baseline for what is available, but it will also create room for people driving recognition & usage patterns. Remember, the guy wearing the red sweater in Star Trek always dies. So to speak. If that had a racial twitch, but gender neutral, that would be sweet.
Provide the basics while still enabling people to be provided for, with fallback for the cost of dying, and still providing a mix which leads to choices that people can fill by means of buying to seperate themselves from both the moment, the situation and the people around them.

We are treating it as the cloths you are wearing are stored in your pod so you have cloths to wear when exiting your pod at the next station.
ok this makes more sense. But if that is the case, why don't I lose all of my clothes I've ever bought when I'm podded?

These items, other than how they are initially purchased, are just like any other item.
If it is in your pod (ie, wearing it), nothing survives being podded. If it is in your ship's cargo, it has a chance of surviving and existing in the wreck.
So just another isk sink? Gotcha.

I am cautiously optimistic about the way CCP is implementing this.
I really, really like the idea of being able to change the PLEX-->Aurum conversion rate to use as an additional tool to help control PLEX prices, although changes to the exchange rate will probably need to be telegraphed a month or two in advance.
I'm still not all that convinced that Incarna is going to be very compelling from the gameplay side of the equation, but I'm willing to reserve judgement for now.

I guess it is arguable--from a player perspective, at least given what we've seen so far--whether that theory applies to the tens of millions that CCP has received in venture capital to-date.

my only rebuk is that the item store can be accessed from literally anywhere, there is no travel time involved.
but I suppose the idea that you'd have to infuse a lot of isk at once... that's true... so you kinda have to buy in bulk...

The free clothing and accessories in the character creator are for choosing your character's default appearance. If you get podded, your new clone will awaken with this outfit. We don't intend to keep offering the full free clothing line each time you step into the character creator. Eventually you will see just the one free set and whatever clothing you have acquired.
One kind of thing that did not make it in to this test build is a re-skin of a current, common ship. It is not enhanced in any way except cosmetic.
I really Really REALLY HATE this idea... its one thing to add extra clothing lines that you pay for (I don't like that either) but to remove the extremely limited choices we have now... atm based on current plex prices and the new currency exchange rate on duality one of the new currency is worth about the same as a t1 frigate. a t1 frigate is about the size of a modern day airliner, assuming they are about equivalent in terms of real terms cost, your asking us to believe that in the future a single skirt costs in the region of $100 million+. This is immersion breaking, as well as being an actual real world rip-off. If you ever want me to actually use Incarna you had better bloody well not expect me to even think about paying extra for it. This has got to be one of the stupidest ideas I have seen you float... The items in your cargo hold get treated all the same. That could drop and be looted by another player. Or they could be lost.
But if you are wearing them and the ship gets destroyed and you get podded, you will lose what you are wearing and there is no chance of looting. In other words, we are copying the experience of flying with implants. Also, jump clones may come in handy again.

if there is a problem with spurring creativity may i suggest draining that big fish tank and turning it into a beer vat. i've had any number of highly creative ideas while inebriated some of which actually turned out to be practical once i sobered up. sadly my cunning plan to make enough isk to buy ccp up and "fix" some of the things that annoy me wasn't one of them.

That images frightens and confuses me, also I think it is a fake, we all know ccp images are made in mspaint.

We will start out with a rather limited number of items initially, carefully measuring the demand and how it impacts the economy. As time progresses, we'll gradually introduce new items and revise our strategy.

Not every player values ISK the same. Some are rich. Some are working hard each week to earn enough to pay for their accounts. Some are buying PLEX to fund their ISK needs.
If you offer folks something for X Aurum or Y ISK, you will get folks who find each attractive.

Fair enough. Followup:
If I take off my cloths and put on my 'orange overalls' and get podded and my jump clone is on the other side of the galaxy from where I changed my cloths at, are my cloths waiting for me there? Essentially what I'm asking is do the cloths you buy follow you around eve in your captains quarters closet or are they only available where you purchased them? (sorry not sure if I'm making sense here...)
