I live outside of Detroit.
I'm going to tell you all, it's the last place on earth you want to spam calls.
Not only is this one of the most dangerous areas in the country, LulzSec is making it difficult to protect people around the area and get their jobs done. As Much as I love EVE, DDOs attacks against the FBI is putting lives in danger. Period.

@CCP
There doesn't seem to be an option to clear the credit-card details from our accounts! Please provide one!
(I just made a new payment through PayPal, because of the shallow hope that this will override my CC information. While this new payment is good for you, I'm afraid my CC info is still in your DB and I'm not feeling comfortable with it!)

I used to live in the Burbs, I'm out near A2 these days, so it's sort of a non-issue for me and my family.

I'll go grab me a beer. Why do i tell you that ? Because it doesn't matter.
Yes. Just like Chewbacca. But, what does Chewbacca have to do with this ?
Absolutely nothing.

FWIW CCP didn't have a lot of choice in what they did - ie dropping routes. From within the same facility that Eve is housed it was more than apparent that all was not well on that segment and peering segments associated with the routing adverts.
AIUI one of the advertised "attractions" of where CCP is hosted is dDoS amelioration. Didn't work. Doubt it was ever there as L3 is cutting EVERYTHING now.
Worth bearing in mind - we've all been let down, its what you do after that matters.

This reminds me of AFK cloakers, tbh.
Lulzsec HINTS only they are coming after EvE again, but there's the possiblity this was just said because they want us to wait for it and get us angry about it.
Now they let us wait until we stop caring about it and then they'll strike again.
pffffffffffff

Yawn, this reminds me of IRC disco/split/node wars in the 90's back when the were just DoS's. What's funny is you can tell the amount of kids on Eve in the way folk are reacting to the DDoS, like it's a new problem or the world will end or what's happening is new / novel / etc. The don't remember the DoS's in the early 90's or significantly bigger events that took down most of the internet (remember blaster? how about with alternic DNS poisoned the root, etc).
I do wish when this was all said and done CCP would release a technical AAR. Curious what the sustained bandwidth rates were and edge pps drop rates (if any). I.e. curious the problem was CCP (DDoS exceeded their burst capacity and/or the cost wasn't worth it because sustainment at burst levels) or if they actually managed to exceed CCP's ILEC or tier 2 / 3 provider. Also curious if the DDoS was layer 7 related (i.e. the routers kept up fine, it was the proxies/fw/iP|Ds/etc which failed) De Oppresso Liber |

Well, i didn't notice any BBS-wars back then, altough i knew what BBSs were and it was my era and there definitly were some.
I did notice BLASTER ... i think ... yeah.
You're confusing age with knowledge/careing.
Most ppl either don't know or don't give a ****. Apart from other reasons i can't think of right now.
The people you are referring to really either are too young to get it, or they simply forgot (ppl forget SO MUCH that happened even recently), or they just don't know anything about it because they lack deeper knowledge, which connects in some way to the "i don't care"-reason.
Please remember that generalisations usually are wrong, because all of life is just possibilites of things happening.
Language Barrier hits me hard now...

First Aid for the lulz -> Boot to the head (ingame). Solution attempt for the lulz -> Steel bars, hairy guy, soap, shower (ingame). Final solution for the lulz -> Headshot behind some random barn (ingame).
Do not try this at home. All suggested events were fictional and for ingame use only. Aiming firearms towards bodyparts and pulling the trigger will cause painfull injury or death. No lulz or other ken-doll collectors were harmed during the shower session. "Boot to the head" is trademark owned by world of teencraft. Headshot gives best lulz when performed with shotgun.

who? those who hacked or those who use outdated protection. don't be so quick to blame hackers, they do a very important job when it comes to networks.
No, they don't. It's not their job. They aren't doing anything out of the "goodness" of their hearts. If they were they would have quietly contacted security.
Saying the hackers are doing service is like saying that the neighbors dog is doing you a service when he poops on your lawn...because he is showing you your lawn is not protected against dog poop.
yeah, thanks for the poop...

You're confusing Hackers with Crackers. Read it up.
Also, your argument is flawed.
If you have a car accident and are at conciousness, you'd want ppl to help you and not stay around and say "I'm not qualified to help you" and they watch you die.
Hackers do and did a great service to the internet-community, you just do not know better.
What you are talking about, are Crackers. The "bad" equivalent of Hackers.
Hackers are "bad" because media doesn't distinguish between Hackers and Crackers.

Today those two are essentially synonyms; dictionary publishers have even started listing them as the same. Read it up. Judging from context everyone knows what one is talking about, anyway, so there are no practical reasons to differentiate those two.

*rollseyes*
Just because people sheeplessly started to put both of them in one pot (media!) doesn't mean both of them should be in the same pot, even if many, many sheep are implying so. (MEDIA!!! HELLO???)
Hackers != Crackers.
Not distinguishing between them totally distorts the facts.
Not distinguishing between them puts them in the same pot and makes good guys look like bad guys, which is totally, absolutely BULL**** !
Words have meanings for a reason ! Being brainwashed about the meanings of words doesn't change the meanings at all, it just changes the way people perceive a topic and everyone that's related to it !
