I want you to explain how 5+ years of dev resources, waste, lies, and then finally greed brought you to where we stand today. I want you to explain how you honestly think you can pull off this vision when your base is ready to revolt.
I want to know why you thought it was prudent to cheat and leach off your flagship product and take massive risk with your company and player base with Dust 514 and WOD.

Basically, you (CCP) seem to keep f*ing up and f*ing us over.
Not as forthcoming as in the past? It seems this was a case of being just as forthcoming as (a part of) the playerbase has come to expect of you.
Newsflash: some don't like that attitude.

In short:
1. NEX prices are literally ten time more than what any sane person would consider reasonable 2. The option to disable WiS is "temporary"; making it permanant would make a lot of people happy 3. That leaked internal newsletter shows a frightening lack of empathy and understanding of the needs and wants of your playerbase ---------------

First and foremost i think the internal newsletter needs addressing. Please don't risk further insulting the community by pretending not to have noticed a 80+ page threadnought.
That being said, the gesture is appreciated. |

I respect you for having the courage to step up and say this.
The cost is not the problem, it's the path your management has taken that's gotten us all up in flames.
Months ago you promised no microtransations - we said ok. You then said you were implementing vanity items only - we said ok (after the ****storm)
And now? We find out that the management doesn't give a flying **** about the customers by implementing future ADVANTAGES FOR AUR. CCP Soundwave: "i will be burned at a stake by the players so i'll be quiet".
And here we are today. What the **** did you expect would happen?

You've still failed to even acknowledge the leaked PDF (which suggests serious internal issues imo), heck, you haven't denied it.
While I appreciate that you've come along and at least said something, you've still failed to address the more worrying aspects of the pdf.

Originally by: CCP Pann Hi, everyone
Some of you who have been around for a while may remember me. I was the original community manager for EVE. These days, I oversee the PR and Community teams. While most of what I do happens behind the curtains, I am still aware of whatÆs going on front and center. I would be lying if I said that whatÆs happening now didnÆt make me sad, but IÆm not here to ask for your sympathy. To be perfectly honest, IÆm here to buy time while we try to sort things out. No sense in lying about it so I'll call a spade a spade.
ItÆs clear that many of you are <understatement alert> angry </alert>. ThereÆs a lot happening, things are changing quickly and we havenÆt been as forthcoming as you were used to in the past. IÆm willing to step out front and take a lot of heat for that since I was the one who made the decision to hold off on responding for a while to see if things cooled down once the new wore off. I was wrong to do that and I apologize. We should have said something much sooner. We should have done more to address your concerns and be forthcoming, even if we werenÆt going to be able to immediately give you all of the answers you were looking for or the answer your questions in ways that will instantly turn those frowns upside down. To be even more candid, I cannot answer all of your questions, either, but I am working with the people who can to start getting those answers for you. Again, I know weÆre doing this past the expiration date of your patience but I hope youÆll bear with me. I know that, with very few exceptions, most of you donÆt know me from Adam. I havenÆt earned your trust or respect; therefore I have no right to ask anything of you û but I am going to try, anyway. Can I please count on at least some of you to help bring the pitchforks and torches down a few notches?
Like I said, I wonÆt be able to answer all of your questions tonight, but I promise weÆll start getting some info out tomorrow. As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market. Second, many people are unhappy about the CaptainÆs Quarters. Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna. I would appreciate it if you would confirm my observations or tell me what IÆm missing, but I do ask that you do it in a productive way. I will remove posts without prejudice if they are counterproductive to the conversation I hope to have with you.
If youÆve read this much, thanks for staying with me. If you have something to say, IÆd like very much to hear it.
Humbly yours, ~P~

Edited by: Arya Greywolf on 24/06/2011 00:41:47 Edited by: Arya Greywolf on 24/06/2011 00:41:23 EDIT: The high prices of the Noble Xchange is NOT the main issue - for the majority that dislike it, we can ignore it IF you make CQ optional and give us our old hanger view back.
The main concerns are these...
1) Many people want CQ to be a button on their OLD hanger view. Why isn't this happening? Why do we have to have CQ forced on us?
2) Address the Internal Document that was put on EvE News.

The immediate issue has been CCP Fallout, who as usual has made things worse. This time locking threads that were actually the****utic for the community (epic pony door thread), stomping on an outlet that was channeling the hysteria into something more helpful.

Edited by: Iurnan Mileghere on 24/06/2011 00:39:31 The chief complaint is micro transactions. Prices are one thing, but you must address the leaked newsletter and the direction on MTs that affect game progression, such as faction eta digs, ammunition, and ships.
If you cannot address those issues, please communicate to your team that someone at CCP hf who *can* needs to do so.

Do you personally have any sense that what CCP has done (flat-out lying to its customers) is morally wrong?

Hooray and about damned time.
And I knew Friday was some sort of firewall on the time frame front...
Look, you said it, you realize we're full up with many an unhappy camper.
I will say you have the order of things a bit messed up. I'd say the NEX prices while insanely laughable are far from the number one concern. I think the number one concern is years of "Incarna will be optional" became "pay us to alpha test WoD." Because that's how I see this. I've never cared about WiS - I know of SL and quite frankly they have you clocked in the buy things for your space barbie market. I didn't care though, since I'd been told as long as I've been here (late 07) that I wouldn't have to do Incarna. Well, sure, we can turn it off - for now. What happened to optional? Because while it may be optional at this juncture, it sure doesn't seem like it will be forever. That's my number one gripe and if this were to change back to optional for all time, then I'd move on and be a happy camper again.
So, my ranking of anger goes something like this:
1a. Optional or not? (Or, "give me ship spinning or give me death" - you can keep your damned monocles!)
1b. Is that newsletter legit? Cause if so - you all have some explaining to do...
2. Performance - why are 4 walls and 1 avatar killing some folks' machines?
3. Holy broken skills/ships/bonuses batman!
4. NEX = trolololol

The issue isn't directly CQ, or high prices, or heat issues, or charging for API access...
The issue is the direction Eve is headed. We need CCP to be open and honest about what it wants Eve to be. When unexpected things come out of left field. When things happen that we had previously been told would not happen. We stop believing you.
We don't feel you have been honest with us. You have an agenda that you haven't shared.
Please just share your agenda, tell us what you are planning, give us realistic expectations.

CCP Pann...
You are missing the most critical item in your list of items many, if not most of us, are chiefly concerned about. What do you guys have to say about leaked publication "Fearless: Greed is Good?"???
Is this really your plan with micro-transactions? Why the lie? There are many quotes that indicate that such plans were not in the works?
This is what you need to focus on.
My pitchforks are raised and my mouse is hovering over the "Cancel Subscriptions" button (4 of them) should the answer prove unsatisfactory. CCP had a unique, hard-core gamer mentality. What has happened? Has the corporate mentality trumped a game for gamers?
Say it isn't so...
Dex was here. |
