Originally by: Seleene Valerie,
If you really want to understand how a lot of folks feel in a short amount of time, I suggest you read this as it sums up a lot of player feelings:
Originally by: Jade Constantine Sure when you have been playing Eve as long as we have you learn to take the rough with the smooth but you do so with the general feeling that CCP developers understand and ôgetö what makes Eve great û and thatÆs the problem now. This internal newsletter (if real) shows that one of the leading developers does not ôget eveö does not care about eve, and simply sees eve as a cash cow to be milked ferociously to fund other projects. This is about keeping the golden goose of eve subscriptions (on a drip feed if necessary) while chasing and grubbing every little loose cent he can from the player base.
Let me give you a couple of examples of how this can and does (and has already) impacted our enjoyment of this game:
1. The Captains Quarters û itÆs not gameplay its a display cabinet for vanity items. And the price of this display cabinet for you and I is that multi-client performance in stations is now terrible û if you have a bad graphic card itÆs a jerk fest û if you have a decent graphics card itÆs heat-fest. I can run 3-4 clients with CQÆs turned on û I can run it smoothly û but do I want to? Hell no because my Gtx 580 sounds like its melting my motherboard now! So I need to turn off the CQÆs on multiple accounts and as a result have more limited functionality on those accounts and an ugly wallpaper. No more station environment, no more clicking on my ship to open cargo hold, no more dragging ship to the hanger to board it. The delivery of the CQ vanity item display case has impacted my gameplay.
CCP could have made it optional and given us the option of keeping the old hanger view and added a ôdisembark shipö option to the UI but ôoh noö to do that would have meant we werenÆt being forced to look the vanity display case that marketing insisted must be front and centre if weÆre to even think about buying these ridiculously overpriced items from the Noble store.
2. If you read the newsletter youÆll see reference to saved fitting slots û and I donÆt know about you Verone but in JF weÆve run out of saved corp ship fittings. We want CCP to up the limit but is that really going to happen while the ôbiz-devsö talk honeyed words about how to squeeze extra income from players for such ôminor upgrades.ö? How long till we pay aurum for extra corp standing slots? For wardec options? For a usable corp management screen?
3. And who develops these vanity items? Yes thats right its Eve artists and developers whose salary we pay with our subscriptions. Given the choice wouldnÆt you rather have engine trails and flashy cyno effect for all players rather than a bunch of overpriced tat in the Aur store for a fleeced few?
Because that is precisely the compromise being made here -> CCP using our subs money to pay for vanity item production they want to sell back to us for greedy prices and it is something you SHOULD get mad about.
So hereÆs the thing.
The time to fight for the game we love is not in six months time when these concepts have bedded down and CCP is feeling bold enough to start selling Noble Faction ammo and +9 implants. The time to fight is now. Because this newsletter embodies everything that many of us feared but didnÆt want to believe CCP were becoming capable of. It is a massive betrayal of the compact we shared as players and developers of this game and indicates that CCP is preparing to leap down a very dark and deep path of self-immolation in the months to come.
I donÆt want to see Eve Online die Verone. That sounds dramatic I know, but gameworlds die when the dreams and visions are extinguished and that can happen through a succession of bad ideas foisted on a community by people who really donÆt have much of a clue in business.
This really.

I'm a fan of the hangar view. I liked many things about it--quick loading, ship spinning, nice artwork, etc.--so I was pretty sad when they removed it from the game. I don't dislike CQ at all; I actually quite enjoy having an avatar and watching TV from my couch.
I'd just like the flexibility of using the hangar view *or* the CQ, when I want to. For example, if I'm doing some courier work, and I only have to dock, load up, and head out, then I don't need to enter my CQ. The hangar view would be perfectly fine in this situation. However, if for some reason I did want to enter my CQ, then I could just click the "disembark" button to exit my pod.
CCP Pann, is some type of hangar view/CQ combination being considered at all, or is the hangar view gone forever? Do the CQ and hangar view need to be mutually exclusive?

The only reason I mention that is because I am not going to presume to know the minds of the people who did have comments in there. I'm a mouthpiece. I'll admit it. By the time I get involved, the decisions have been made. Not making excuses for myself, just explaining.
You know, CCP has for the last years grown exponentially, devloping DUST514, World of Darkness and probably also funding projects that are not even public yet. Huge sums of money has been pumped into these endeveaurs.
In this whole time - and for at least a whole more year to come - your sole point of revenue has been and is EVE Online. The EVE Online community - US - has allowed you to do these things. We surely are your customers. But in the current state of affairs, the EVE Online playerbase is also your de-facto employers. WE pay your salaries. WE fund your projects. And WE decide wheter we want to stay or take our money elsewhere.
So CCP - a word of caution. You are walking on a very narrow path right now. There ARE limits to how much bull**** from you us players will take before moving on. And if you travel down that road that are indicated in that newsletter, chances are the the EVE Online playerbase will burn your whole goddamn company to the ground.

Edited by: Vincardi on 24/06/2011 00:56:19 I dont like the fact that I would have to put up PLEXES to get AUR to buy clothing. I believe that is the most reetaarded thing CCP has ever done.
Instead of making it a PI thing, where people have to make and combine several things along with ORE to create something special that gets sold to CONCORD, and CONCORD in retaurn gives you AUR for the special item you created.
then you can take that AUR and spend it on clothing.
But no, CCP is trying to monopolize EVE and they will lose a lot of paying customers.
Also, 1 - can't scroll completely out on CQ. 2 - no floor lights on the catwalk. 3 - Can't walk down to your POD and get in it to then get in your ship. 4 - CQ is so cold, no warmth and everything is all metal like a prison cell. 5 - No fridge with food and no quafe to purchase at cheap prices to drink in CQ that gives you a boost for like 2 hours like boosters do. 6 - Can not sit on bed or lay down on it. 7 - Can not play radio or TV screen audio. 8 - CQ does not have Hub Stock Ticker showing JITA and other Hub prices above the screens in CQ. 9 - Can not change light color of your CQ.
And a tons of other things..........
huuum... food for thought. imho

Because our beef is mostly not with incarna, but with MT, which seems is going to be CCP's way forward. We love this game, but it also costs us money. I dont care too much about that, as long as that money is put to good use. 70 dolla monocles and a possible future of RMT benefits, is not what I see as good use of my money... hence I will unsub all of my accounts if it turns out the future in eve will be me being robbed blind by CCP. _________________________________________________

It should not hurt and demanding full answer within few hours can be a bit unrealistic. I mean, perhaps they not only have to decide what to say but also what to do. There may be some internal debate about the very issues people are concerned about. I inspected the whole leaked document and to me it looked like a general rambling about what can be done with RMT in the future. Perhaps the details were not planned as of yet and now they need to suddenly do it, like, really fast. Still, give them a few days. I am myself interested to see what they will announce.
no.
And why is that "no"? I am also not happy with the content of this leaked document and I could as well bail out if EVE would become RMT pinata. Buy seriously, the reactions some people are displaying here are hysterical. Some people have right to be angry and concerned. But not in a way some are showing it. I am totally at the same side as the angry mob here but tbh I would gladly see some of the ragers here just unsub and quit now and never return no matter in which direction EVE will be heading.

This is extremely troubling in my opinion. While I personally respect the privacy of individuals and companies I can't just ignore what was said. As a customer what I request is that those involved come forward and say that many features of that document will never be implemented and that Microtransactions will NEVER give any advantage in the game.

Well then, I think the appropriate response for you is to inform those decision makers just how upset the community is over their intended course with the game. Judging by the reading I did myself, they probably won't care much, but we would like to know if those dreams are going to be reality. That decision, if affirmed, will likely result in the termination of a LOT of accounts. Many more so than even unsubscribed in the last 24 hours.

Originally by: CCP Pann I know that, with very few exceptions, most of you donÆt know me from Adam. I havenÆt earned your trust or respect; therefore I have no right to ask anything of you û but I am going to try, anyway. Can I please count on at least some of you to help bring the pitchforks and torches down a few notches?
Does taking my pitchfork and torch and combining them, by lighting the pitchfork on fire, count as taking down a few notches? Now you only have one flaming pitchfork to contend with instead of both a pitchfork and a torch. It might even be better for you since the fire should cauterize any puncture wounds straight away. Unless the blood puts the fire out, in which case you're screwed anyway.
Serious face:
I appreciate that CCP is a for-profit company, I appreciate that certain facets of the company (**** you bizdev, seriously, **** you, go die in a fire, then rise from the dead and go do it again - I hope your screams frighten your neighbor's children) have more interest in raping my wallet than others. What I don't appreciate is Barrage +5, or pay for uber-ships or any other form of double-billing that requires me to go spend more money above and beyond my subscription to compete with people. I don't want you to sell faction standings, I busted my ass to get those so that I could out-compete other traders. I don't want you selling +5 barrage, I trained all V's so I could out-compete other players when I'm shooting them in face.
TL;DR: In short, don't make my time sacrifices meaningless now by letting other people buy the things I worked for. If you do I'll take my 5 accounts and go home.

People are upset about the prices of things in the NEX store (and I think rightly so), but by far the hottest source of burning anger is some of the content in the FEARLESS publication.
When micro transactions for in-game items that affect the game in a way that is more than vanity - be it special ammunition, unique ships, extra ship slots, extra skill points - then Eve fundamentally changes.
This is what people are worried about and many are convinced that it's right around the corner.
Please get a clear answer on this. Will it happen? If so, when? Will Eve become free to play at that time? Will Eve degenerate into a game where he with the most real-life money wins by default?
I don't want that to happen, but if it IS going to happen I'd like to know sooner rather than later.
We're angry because we care about Eve. It's a great game where a lot of cool stuff happens and a lot of friends and enemies are made (which, by the way, are often friends anyway when you get right down to it).

Hi Pann,
I think your initial 3 stabs at summarizing the community outrage are good, but there's an even greater undercurrent of concern that pushes all of them forward: CCP promised better communication at Fanfest this year and we have not gotten that. Instead we have gotten a series of screw ups, miscommunication, and a poor expansion that delivered less than what was promised.
I'm typically on CCP's side but I am baffled by this chain of events, microtransactions missing the meaning of the 'micro-' prefix entirely will likely have the most profound impact on CCP's reputation, since this is the story much of the games media is covering right now and is accessible to players and non-players alike.
I'm not concerned about the internal newsletter leak as that seems to be fodder for people who are enraged so much as to lack reason right now. Companies should totally be having internal debates about how to develop and market their games. That said, they should also live up to promises they make to their customers -- that MT items for Eve will be entirely vanity based and reasonably priced.
And finally I want to add my take on your #3. There are some rotten things going on in CCP's 3D programming code. While I cannot prove coincidences do not happen, my nVidia card died the day the expansion hit. Players across the board are experiencing heat issues in systems that previous have not had these problems. I needs to be addressed.
Thanks for starting the initial discussion, but we need answers as soon as possible.
-A concerned fan
