CCP didn't listen in the many months leading up this, I doubt they would listen now.
You can only do so much for someone, CCP is lost.

Did you miss the 75 page threadnaught over "Greed Is Good"? Here, let me link it for you: http://www.mediafire.com/?ccl135embyb6c2v. I will continue to link it everywhere until the situation is resolved to my satisfaction, my accounts expire, or I am banned. It is very disrespectful of your customers, and outlines a strong desire by the Lead Game Designer of Flying In Space to make the entire game -- including PVP -- revolve around paying $10 for a new set of Noble autocannons every week.
With regards to the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market.... that's just pants on head stupid ******ed ****.

I have to admit, I was extremely underwhelmed. Go play Mass Effect and visit the strip club. This is what I want for my CQ, if I must have one. Furthermore, I don't want to see my CQ unless I want to see my CQ. There's no content in it for someone that wants to blow **** up in space and most of the time I'm docked its to switch ships not **** with the ****ing couch.
Also, running... heard of it? **** man, total disappointment.

NO ****ING ****. Having CQ (and Incarna) be optional would be a great start. After that, maybe hiring artists who have experience would be a good start. (See twitter conversations for details, or talk to Hesperius).

You get a pass on this, Valerie, but your bosses do not. We are beyond sick and tired of game designers and marketing jockeys hiding behind lower level employees and community mouthpieces. We need answers from THEM, and we need those answers NOW.

If you cannot address those issues, please communicate to your team that someone at CCP hf who *can* needs to do so.
The above, but to add: MTs which don't qualify as progression but also don't count as vanity items such as the "additional saved fittings" which were proposed in the "Greed Is Good" newsletter are also unacceptable additions. If it has an effect on gameplay our subscription(s) should be all we need to access the content. |

Some of the things in that newsletter have caused other issues to come up. As I previously mentioned about Aurum for Standings, Ammo, Special ships. Game Changing Items. This is something that does need to be addressed.

Concerns to be addressed: 1) "leaked" internal doc essentially stating "we at CCP want to put in as much stuff into the NEX market as we can get away with, including Faction standing, special ammo and ships." + the things we had been told in the past about "NO MICROTRANSACTIONS ARE BEING PLANNED." 2) Yes, the prices are ridiculous, but it looks like some people were dumb enough to buy them anyway. Can't fix stupid though. 3) I like the captains quarters, but it is unfortunate that all captains quarters look the same no matter what station type you are in. As long as this does get iterated on, it's not a huge deal, but please, please get some designers on this NOW. 4) yes the CQ performance etc. I take a pretty hefty performance hit in my quarters but I know my graphics card is relatively sub-par by today's standards, so that's less of an issue to me, and my system is running at normal temperatures.
These are listed in my perceived order of importance.

You've already lost 2 of my 3 accounts this month, and it'll be 3/3 if you keep up the non-apology apologizing, keep ignoring the actual issue that player concern is centered around, and can't refocus your corporate vision.
This is the first and only mmo I've ever paid to play, and before last week, I was never ashamed of that. I'm willing to feel that way again if you are inclined to give me the incentive, and I hope this is just going to be something we can all laugh over together in a year, but right now, it's not looking so good.

If this were politics, your next action would be simple.
Fire whoever is in charge of the "microtransactions anywhere and everywhere we can cram them" business plan. Re-commit to the "robust game development leading to consistent and increasing monthly subscriptions" model that has served you well for half a dozen years.

No,you're missing the biggest issue of all. The concerns you state will all be answered and eventually fixed/optimized. your concerns seem more like a straw-man argument to try and falsely appease us. The biggest complaint is the new business model CCP is adopting for the game where the player-driven market is no longer the primary means to acquire goods. In it's "leaked" document, CCP is now stating it's fully open to creating goods ex-nihilo by simply spending real-world currency and a ship magically appears. This breaks immersion and most importantly, many players' "game" and sense of importance/accomplishment. A micro-transaction good, such as a ship, should at least require the same hull-type produced by the players, plus the Aurum required.
The response by CCP is that the code to create ex-nihilo is ready to be shipped. But the code that couples with the player-driven economy is a year away from getting implemented is complete BS. This is just a ruse. This type of code is already in your LP stores! This is very similar to the logic of the LP stores and I'm sure if your devs look at code, it shouldn't be anything fairly new to implement; just access a new dataset (you'r Aurum dataset) and use logic similar to your LP stores.
This is also not to mention that you would never do microtransactions, go back on your word about that, then say that mt's will only be for vanity items, and now you go back on your word about that and say that mt's will be to help assist and give players advantages over eachother.
Where is CCP's soul? I understand a company has to be driven by profit, but to lose it's way? I used to believe in CCP and thought we were on the same page.

Why should I keep investing time in this game if I know that in 1 or 2 years there will be additional fitting slots and better ammo for $ ?
Eve Online is not a the kind of game where you can expect to make a quick buck with MTs. It's a game that people invest a lot of time in and where a slight chance of non-vanity MTs happening means that investing time and effort is not worth it anymore.
CCP has crushed the hope of its playerbase. Before Incarna, it used to be "one day CCP might fix all the broken stuff". Now? Why play and build stuff for the future if that future Eve won't be worth playing.
Sigh. I want to love CCP, but you guys just won't let me. ____________________________________________

Edited by: Kalissa on 24/06/2011 00:54:51 Thanks for the reply, it sure does take some guts to put your head in the firing line when the playerbase it this livid.
Your post did address 3 out of the 4 problems that players have, unfortunately you missed the one thats really got people mad.
The high costs of the vanity items is an issue, but in the end if people wanna pay that kinda cash it's upto them though I think you guys are shooting yourself in the foot as none but the insanely wealthy will buy them.
I don't think people are unhappy about the captains quarters per se, it's more like the affect it's having on fps and system temperatures that got people ****ed off. Afterall if it wasnt for the temperature problems then the biggest arguement against CQ would be the fact that in people have to click the mouse one extra time to open the cargohold (seriously people complained about that??? geeesh!)
But the real doozy is that what that internal memo was leaning toward made CCP look like nothing but unadulterated liars as regard to AUR, I dont care about AUR for extra fitting slots or for vanity items, hell I'd even bite my tongue on the faction standings, but AUR for Ammo & Weapons?? Thats just taking the ****, it literally flys in the face of what CCP has stated very recently to be policy that AUR would be for vanity items only, you've basically been caught lying through your teeth and we all know that had this not been leaked you'd have found a way to work it in on us down the line sometimes.
So to recap, basically explain why CCP's internal memo flys in the face of your public policy that you announced only a few weeks ago.

Thanks for eliminating that question. The newsletter is bonafied.
Now... are the thoughts set forth company policy or is it merely internal company debate? Should we expect micro-transactions that directly input game progressions, character progression and combat in Eve (our sandbox)?
Obviously, since Aurum is now in the game, micro-transactions are here. However, the mentality and game direction predominantly featured in that publication is so contrary to what we have been told in times past. What is the truth of it?

The prices in the Noble exchange are a surprise, but they don't have me terribly upset since I wasn't planning to buy them anyway. More importantly, whether a monocle is ten cents or a hundred dollars (or 100 isk or a billion isk) has no bearing on the core gameplay of EVE.
What has me very concerned is the apparent shift towards trying to be both a subscription model and MT model game. What attracted me to EVE in the first place is the player-driven nature of the economy. No matter how much money you spent on PLEXes, someone still had to mine the veldspar that got turned into the titan you bought. Same with standings, and everything else in EVE. You can turn PLEX into isk, but the things that those isk buy is player created.
A MT model ruins this. The moment you can transfer real money into things that affect the mineral market, PVP, or anything else beyond what your avatar looks like, you've compromised the basic tenets that made this game great.
If you pursue this MT model, I have no doubt that despite all the complaining on the forum, you will sell your MT ships and ammo and weapons, because for many people winning is the only thing that matters. I can only tell you that I will not be one of those people, and that if this comes to pass EVE will not be a game I want to play anymore.

Who's running CCP now, Bobby Kotick? MT's are NOT WANTED in any game. All is shows is that you're just in it for a money grab, and then the game quickly goes downhill into the sewer. If that's what your goal is, then congrats, you're almost there. |

the aur system you have added to the game is a bad idea, i thought all items in game ( cloths ) is suppost to be made by the players, to grew its large economy even bigger.
and not protaining to the subject, " I am still aware of whatÆs going on front and center " " IÆm willing to step out front and take a lot of heat for that since I was the one who made the decision to hold off on responding for a while to see if things cooled down once the new wore off.
