well at the very least all this mess made Pann posting.
Quote: As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market. Second, many people are unhappy about the CaptainÆs Quarters. Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna. I would appreciate it if you would confirm my observations or tell me what IÆm missing, but I do ask that you do it in a productive way. I will remove posts without prejudice if they are counterproductive to the conversation I hope to have with you.
that's sorta all of it, in a nutshell.
allow me to expand the CQ issue a bit tho:
where did it went the "WiS/Incarna optional!" thing went? No, I'm not talking about the "do not load station environment" option, since that does look like something that was rushed to shut up the masses somewhat. I'm talking about the possibility of having the old hangar back but with a nifty button above the "Undock" called "Enter Captain's Quarters", which would surely cater to pretty much everybody's tastes instead that unremarkable and sometimes trollish door wallpaper. ---

Empty apologies do not satisfy many of us, and I consider myself one of those people.
Have already made a thread expressing my dissatisfaction regarding the current CCP level of interest in customer satisfaction and issues.
My current Eve Status is : Hand hovering over the unsubscribe button, and telling as many people as I can find that Eve is swirling around the drain.
Would like to see something better than a "I swear we're really sorry, and I'm personally unhappy with the direction my Company is taking." I don't want to see individual apologies, I'd like to see official CCP action.
You appear to represent the guy who gets shoved through the curtain to apologize to everyone who has been kept sitting in the theatre for 3 hours when the Diva snuck out to party.

The issue is the direction Eve is headed. We need CCP to be open and honest about what it wants Eve to be. When unexpected things come out of left field. When things happen that we had previously been told would not happen. We stop believing you.
We don't feel you have been honest with us. You have an agenda that you haven't shared.
Please just share your agenda, tell us what you are planning, give us realistic expectations.

If youÆve read this much, thanks for staying with me. If you have something to say, IÆd like very much to hear it.
No, the chief complaint is regarding your internal dialogue, related to the document that is now quite widespread.
Captain's quarters is not something we are "unhappy" about, and you again misplace that position. Some players actually do like the potentials with such features, even tho I and I daresay a majority don't. We're rather quite ****ed off that this useless feature only came with a MT-addon, and nothing to really add to the game, which is quite a mockery.
You got the point right about the costs. The performance issues you have already posted a stickky quite a while ago, and thus it's the only thing CCP have addressed in a good fashion so far.
Hope that's constructive enough for you. -

As a new member of the EVE Community I would very much like to know if this is exactly how Incarna was supposed to be received. I was excited about the Noble market but the prices you have set are well ... extortionate. How is that price justified? Is the leaked document real? I joined the game when I saw CCP's passionate vision for how they wanted EVE to be in the future. In all of a few weeks it seems like your reputation is going down the pan. Was so confident in you guys that I convinced 3 of my friends to join the game, without a proper explanation for what has happened in that short time I wont be making that mistake twice.

I assume most of you are adults (with the average age of 26), so act like it.
Also, yeah I really don't like the whole aurum store. It saddens me to see CCP go this way. I was originally against plex also but I understand it. I also know that someone can buy plex, sell it for ISK and its the same, but still.

You still didnt mention the gamebreaking stuff you want to sell with Aurum, mentioned in the obviously-not-faked leaked bulletin.

Edited by: Tus on 24/06/2011 00:45:26 I've read what you've had to say, and kudos for someone from CCP finally stepping up and willing to discuss the current state of eve.
Yes, many of us are upset about the prices of the NeX store. Before conversion into plex to Aurum the base price of the items match, or even go beyond the price of real life clothing. This is something that can be described as obscene. I'm wondering if it was really expected that someone would be willing (and obviously a few folks have) to spend 68 dollars on a single virtual item?
As far as CQ Goes, CCP did say that they would be releasing WIS (Walking in stations) in steps. We can't expect a project so massive to be released bug free in one go. There are some issues with CQ that need to be addressed. Such as the movement of the character. I would describe it as clumbsy (My spelling is horrible. :-\).
I think the biggest concern I will bring up would be regarding the "Leaked Document" from CCP that discusses Aurum for Standings, Ammo, Special Ships and the like. Is that document true? And if so, why is CCP turning its back on no game changing items to appear in the NeX store? If game changing items are introduced then that is a very very bad direction to take eve. I can already hear "Why take the time to earn it, when you can just buy it" being a common phrase.
Once again, Thank you for your willingness to come forth to discuss this.

Thanks for coming forward and trying to fix things, but failing to see that NeX prizes and the sorry state of CQ are not the main reason for the stir, and not mentioning said main reason at all, does not help much.

The problem is not with the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market.
But with tha fact it existes at all, MT has NO place in a subscription game periord.
And Aurum is completly un-wanted, ISK can do everything Aurum can but better and without issue.
Regarding CQ, Many people may not want to take part or dont want to have to load into the station when they just dock to change ship, it would be best if we could dock to the old hanger and then be able to chose to continue to the CQ like this Linkage

And the direction it might be going in: away from vanity items to items affecting gameplay, to expendables and non-player produced goods.

I can answer #1. It's so you only see your avatar so you want to dress him/her in pretty dresses from the store. It's pretty easy. #2. tldr that.
TBH I'm mostly butthurt that this patch is so insanely broken. I've spent 2 days trying to get eve running and can't. I'm going to need to use the guys eve client at work that somehow runs on a crap machine while my l33t pc fails hard just to swap my skills.

Thank you for taking the time to address us Valerie.
I think you guys have a misconception, our first issue is not with the price of the items in the NEX (although that is quite ridiculous, to be honest), but rather, the direction in which things seem to be going, and which was confirmed by the "Greed is Good" edition of Fearless.
Another big concern is the total disrespect and disregard for CCP's customers that CCP employees in positions of authority like Zyrfindel and Soundwave, seem to have.
That, matched with the description as "golden geese" to be milked and the insinuation that we have been losing features like fittings and hairstyles accessories etc that were in the previous character creator just so that you can charge us for them again, would be the main concerns.
That being said, you might want to also address the failings of the Captain Quarters, the broken things, moving the isk balance back to the left, and the high cost of Aurum items that is beyond all rhyme or reason, and frankly, ridiculous, but any dialogue that doesn't address the primary points will be worthless to put it mildly.
As I see it, the NEX prices are a symptom, not the problem.

Nice to see someone finally talks to us. I've volunteered my time to help the CM of another game company, and I can say from experience that having the company stay in contact with its customers goes a long way to keeping problems from getting blown out of proportion. Even if there are some people who are constantly negative, an informed player base is usually a happier one even if they get some bad news from time to time.
Anyways. My personal opinion in Incarna is that CQ itself isn't that much of a problem. I see it more as a test. I'd much rather have CCP release a single room and make sure things are working right before doing the rest of the station environment, than releasing walking in stations in its entirety at once and nuking the server. Past experience has show that big changes bring big bugs no matter how much testing gets done on Sisi.
Performance can be an issue on some machines, though I know some players who are having problems are using outdated equipment and didn't get the memo that the graphical requirements were going to be raised. It might not be a bad idea to mention that in the MOTD that shows on the client logon screen next time you do that. For people who do meet the shader requirements but have lower end cards; it would be a good thing to give us the old station environment back. It would make a lot of people happy if Incarna were optional instead of mandatory. It would probably be a better idea to have us load into the hangar and give us a button (or other intractable object) that then brings us to our captains quarters with an option to bypass the hangar and go straight to CQ. -Xindi Kraid: Delivering acerbic wit and scathing comments with just a dash of 'stab you in the eye' |

Broken promises We were told incarna would be completely optional, this isnt the case as the door is temporary. We were told we would never see microtransactions, that promise was broken some time ago. We are told aurum will be vanity items only. Its starting to sound like that wont be the case. |

I think I've found the problem. You manage the community and PR yet we have very little interaction with you. If you had spent some more time researching or even understood your playerbase you would understand that we would outright reject the direction these micro transactions are going.
It is even worse for us when we open our wallets and the AUR is in your face with a bright colour - It makes it feel like a hard sales pitch and something I expect from a fly by night MMO. Its out right tacky.
That said, I understand that it is in CCP's best interests to persue Micro transactions as do other players. I even approve of them if you reinvest the money made back into the game. However what I - And most of the player base WILL NOT TOLLERATE is ANY micro transactions that are NOT purely cosmetic. That will be the nail in the coffin for myself.
Also, alot of respect for standing up and posting this, hopefully this will actually lead somewhere as opposed to it keeping us quiet untill it blows over. I think we both know that will not happen.
