Pann, thank you for at least taking this preliminary step, but we need answers from your bosses. You aren't allowed to take this bullet for them.

Hi Valerie,
Thank you for your post. It was very cowardly of you (if it was you personally at CCP that made the decision) to not communicate on the issue and you've done further damage to the already rather abused trust of many of your long term players.
I firstly would like to ask the most important question:
Can you at CCP now promise that any "micro-transaction" plans will be permanently shelved regarding an transactions that would give players any in-game advantage or advancement such as standing, ammo, ships, skillpoint boosts etc?
The answer to that question first and foremost determines whether I stay playing eve or not.
I'll add more questions later in the thread but for now that is the only one I NEED answering.
Sorry if you can't personally, but I think your CEO (Hilmar?) probably can and should come out with a firm decision on this.
Cheers, A very disappointed customer

So about how about the "leaked" memo?
And why did CCP think that it would be a good idea to sell out their flagship product? You can probably make some money doing so, but you can only sell it out once.

- CCP says No ships, guns, real game items for aurum EVER. - Noble exchange rate is measured in cents not dollars - The leaked memo gets explained - CCP demonstrates an attitude towards its customer's money that is not analogous to unmined ore.

As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market.
well everyone expected MICROtransactions , meaning 5Ç tops http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1534450 this is a good read and sums it up in 20 posts personally i dont care much as long as they are not game changing items they can cost as much as you feel
Second, many people are unhappy about the CaptainÆs Quarters. i dunno why ,, it was clear what CQ was in the first iteration and that WIS will come later ...
Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna well thats true .. brings my GT 470 to 85¦c and to 100 % GPU utilization ..

Damn right !
Quite frankly though, my beef isn't with CQ itself... Hell i KNOW it's just a beta for the WOD engine and I accept that, it makes perfect sense as a company to try and get 40000 beta testers. My beef is with the statement that you are removing the option to NOT PARTICIPATE in CQ/Incarna.
You leave that the hell where it is, and state that it IS NOT going to be removed, and you will remove prob half the rage straight away... |

I assume since you(Pann) completely walked around talking about the leaked internal document it is likely real?
Surely the FIRST priority would be to quash that if it was a fake considering besides the MT issue as whole being a problem the things in that document make it much much worse.
Looking forward to someone talking about that.

You have 78 pages of posts you can parlay from.
We don't need talk of 'Where we're thinking of taking EVE' or any other vague, general, soft answers. We need a few, choice YES/NO answers on some serious issues. Was the newsletter posted by EN24 an accurate copy of that published by CCP? Will you impose a fee for people to contribute to the community either for free or for in game currency? This pair of one word answers would do more to parlay then any declarations of intent.

Sorry but no.
CCP has a tendency to ignore things let them fall behind the rug and hope people forget about them. I am sure some answers will come soon and I look forward to them but I expect a lot of corporate run around attempts at lols and mostly ignoring/silent treatment of the larger issues.
Lets take a recent example of when CCP tried to improve communication, they created an "Answer your ever question" thread with a goal of having all the questions answered in 2 days. 6 weeks later half the questions are answered (mostly joke ones) the thread has lost it's sticky and is quickly joining the sea of things you are just trying to stay silent on and hope people will forget about. ------------------- piccy |

Did you miss the 75 page threadnaught over "Greed Is Good"? Here, let me link it for you: http://www.mediafire.com/?ccl135embyb6c2v. I will continue to link it everywhere until the situation is resolved to my satisfaction, my accounts expire, or I am banned. It is very disrespectful of your customers, and outlines a strong desire by the Lead Game Designer of Flying In Space to make the entire game -- including PVP -- revolve around paying $10 for a new set of Noble autocannons every week.
With regards to the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market.... that's just pants on head stupid ******ed ****.
Quote: Second, many people are unhappy about the CaptainÆs Quarters.
I have to admit, I was extremely underwhelmed. Go play Mass Effect and visit the strip club. This is what I want for my CQ, if I must have one. Furthermore, I don't want to see my CQ unless I want to see my CQ. There's no content in it for someone that wants to blow **** up in space and most of the time I'm docked its to switch ships not **** with the ****ing couch.
Also, running... heard of it? **** man, total disappointment.
Quote: Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna.
NO ****ING ****. Having CQ (and Incarna) be optional would be a great start. After that, maybe hiring artists who have experience would be a good start. (See twitter conversations for details, or talk to Hesperius).

1- People are not unhappy with CQ, they are unhappy that they can't turn it off without the game giving us "the door". It is very much possible to let people load the old hangar view and not CQ, and give them the option to enter CQ. That should solve the "general" CQ unhappiness.
2- The high price of the NEX items, it was to be expected on launch because some dude with a degree in economics that works for ccp told them so in order to not break the market, it still happened, but probably not as bad as it could have been. The issue is you have a very limited selection, the initial shock is done and over. Suggestion: bring the prices down gradually, and put them on the same level, add more items, make them affordable. There should be a nice balance between time devs spent working on a new vanity item, and the actual cost of the item in-game. You want to make certain items exclusive (while not affecting gameplay or giving unfair advantages) do so, AFTER you've given the poorer masses other options.
That's all i can think of for right now MonocleMonocle

CCP you have such an amazing game, I dont understand why you feel this need to become something eve was never meant to be, your selling the quality and probably the longevity of this game.
We just want to know whether CCP's stance on MT has changed, and why?
Why CQ cant be a parallel system? e.g. SPACE <---> DOCKED <-----> Incarna
If you asked me at Apocrypha how long I thought EVE had left I'd say 10 years or more. If you asked me 6 months ago, I'd say 5 or more years. If you asked me today I'd struggle to say more than 1 or 2
This is what needs to be addressed, you have to re-earn the trust we had in you before.
Give us some reassurance you are still the same company you were in 2009 and before |

I'm sure this post will get lost in the flood, but what the hell.
You are the CM. You should not be here. Your job is one of public relations, and while it is technically your job description to take the flames for this, it's not your moral obligation. It should be management taking the damage from this. Not you.
That said, people are more concerned about the greed newsletter. The pricing is a hilarious joke, but it's the newsletter which scares people. Everything else is bad, but that's the worst of it. That's the thing which drove me (and many others) to quit.
