Originally by: Iyam Urmastr ............ My understanding is that the servers are located in England. Ever heard of 24/7 3 hour service? Its not like they are located in the middle of nowhere and can't get a contract with qualified technicians or anything.
Maybe they should be removed from there and setup somewhere where there is better support.

Originally by: hugodrax Is this typical? I just signed up yesterday and I dont usually play long stretches but it seems that its down more than it is up. That would suck since I have limited time to play games and if the times I choose the servers are always down I guess it is time to move on.
No, it's not typical. Despite what the whiners and crybabies might make you think this is a rare occurence. The last 12 hours have been the worst 12 hours the game has experienced failure-wise for several months.
Probably it's just a hardware fault and these things happen. It'll all be back up and running soon. -- (Battle hardened miner)

There are no online games that don't have issues like this. Period.
Well, except the 6 people that play Hello Kitty Online. "You Griefer!!!" = "You Doodyhead!!!" |

Hey, I just found the solution to the problems. Someone didn't start Eve up properly today.
The command should have been: /usr/local/sbin/eve --CRASH_INTERVALS=none...if you start it up without that modifier, it just crashes all day.:)

Ijust converted my trial account to a full account and its not registering it, is this something to do with the probs with the server, thinking tho it might have been a bad idea and used the cash for something else.... like going down the pub , or trying out a new MMORPG !!!

Talk about timing.

From official posts ages ago CCP use M$ SQL on multiprocessor servers. Have you seen the licence costs associated with that.
Note this is not an invite to start a flame war. Just a statement that a large chunk of the money we pay is gone on licencing costs before you start to look at wages or sending staff off to conventions.

To the people who ask 'Would any other business give such a sloppy service' I say 'Yes, and sometimes a lot worse'. You want to moan, play certain other MMORPG's that sometimes go down for a whole day, you'll love it.
Yes, the server going down is a pain, I've been working all day for the right to get on the damn PC and then when I get the chance it down. It's a bugger. But the sky isn't falling in and the sun ain't exploded (yet). I little persceptive please.

I could try and force the GMs to come here and post, but to be honest they would just post the same thing as I do, because I get my information from them.
I update the top post as soon as I hear something and I also post it in the thread.
Although that could mean 1 of them wasting precious moments of fixing watever that supposedly doesnt need fixing(?!?), it would be SO NICE to hear something officialy.
btw, is proxy server on iceland?!?!?

You'd have a job mate, they located in London docklands Telehouse building I think. Which is supposedly nuclear bomb proof.
Which is a relief really. At least we know that if there is a nuclear war, we'll all still be able to play EVE. Unless it's a bank holiday weekend of course

Edited by: TFU 2 on 26/03/2005 16:57:26 Yeah i agree, just take the game down completely for say 3 days, sort it once and for all. The skill training loss could be solved by cranking up the rate of sp gain for a couple of days :)

There are no refunds, its in the EULA.
Sorry, when that becomes legally binding, let me know.
I am legally protected from this kinda of behaviour by the fact that I can choose to not agree with the EULA and not use the software. Therefore the EULA doesn't come into effect as it is only Terms and conditions for playing the software, not a legally binding contract for someone who has purchased game time.
Because EVE asks me to agree to the EULA when it starts, it means I can choose to disagree with it WHENEVER I want.
Luckily, I don't want to cancel my account :)

Why would you buy game time for a game that you refuse to play?

Because , you don't get to read the EULA until you've paid or activated a trial account .... and i'm referring to my right to refusal.
