We could pack them off together on tours whilst we get down to the serious issues.
No, but I too am kind of curious as to the amount of available free roaming strange in Iceland.
So far it sounds like a very worthwhile trip, cool game and peoples, booze, no minors, to a country I have yet to visit, but it just wouldn't be complete without at least one right proper "welcoming".

BNC will be there in force, hopefully a dozen or so of us.
I'm just waiting for the dates when I get repatriated to the UK so I know whether to fly from Heathrow or Toronto.
Looking forward to this it should be a blast!

Correct me if im wrong, but the minimal drinking AND purchasing age of alcohol in Iceland is 20. So why are 18 and 19 year olds allowed to go as well. This appears to be discrimination against 17 year olds and under.

It did sound a bit odd, so I checked. Apparently the drinking age is 20, but if you're 18 or above you can be at a place that serves alcohol, which you can't if you're under 18.

Ok so the next fanfest should be in Australia not Iceland, because Australia is far better than Iceland tbh. Plus, its way easier to get to for the more important members of the eve community (Ombie, myself etc).

Ouch - I know it's a day longer this year but a 75% price rise over last year?
I'll be there, but my plans to stay on for a week will need some careful thought.
BTW is the price hike only for UK/European players? US price looks similar to last year as far as I remember?

Yeah ... and why is it suddenly SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper for me to fly to france and go from there when its further away than London!?!?!
Trip from France costs 400 of the Queens nuggets+Easyjet fare of 50 gold ones. Trip from the CLOSER UK is 600!!!?!?
Can't you move it to a Virgin Atlantic destination? Then i can come for hotel cost only, a big consideration when you got two to pay for!
EDIT: United States: 675 USD (400 of the Queens finest) ... im going via the states!?????!!!! Darwin 4tw

As kieron probably said a few times now, pricing is something you'll have to discuss with Iceland Air, not CCP.

Hmmm... Not gonna let the UK pricing put me off going (/me checks wallet - 2 moths and a button - hmm...)
But it does look like we Brits have been singled out for a significant price hike (and NOT for the flight from the looks of it)
Oh well, see you guys there (thems that's going that is)

Sadly me ol' mucker it don't work like that in real life. If we as a single person go to Iceland Airways and moan they will do nothing, however, if in this situation CCP goes to IA and says "Oi Oi! Hold on a minute!" then they maywell take note and do something about it.
As it stands, i think you will find the UK contigent lacking this year, most won't be able to afford 600 for a few days and others like myself will say get stuffed out of principal.

Surely the UK price is Euro's incorrectly marked as GPB?
Otherwise

I know the pricing isn't controlled by CCP, but it wouldn't hurt if they had a quick word just to confirm the pricing is correct.

Well, I converted all prices to ISK, and I must admit I was a bit shocked, going from the UK is by far more expensive than anything else:
United States: 675 USD = 44,750.5 ISK United Kingdom: 593 GPB = 71,386.6 ISK France: 615 EUR = 49,102.5 ISK Germany: 725 EUR = 57,885.1 ISK The Netherlands: 729 EUR = 58,204.4 ISK Denmark: 4410 DKK = 47,279.2 ISK Sweden: 5850 SEK = 49,738.1 ISK Norway: 5410 NOK = 54,355.0 ISK
However, there are cheaper options, after some checking around, mostly on Iceland Express website, I found a lot cheaper flights:
London/Stanstead STN - Reykjavik/Keflavik KEF Oct 20th - 74 GBP Reykjavik/Keflavik KEF - London/Stanstead STN Oct 23rd - 74 GBP
Then you have the fan fest ticket, with the price not set I'm going by the price from last year, it shouldn't vary too much: ~50 USD = ~30 GBP
And then there's of course the hotel issue, if you spend 3 nights in a hotel that's included in Iceland Air's package, it will cost you: 21 900 ISK/night = 182 GBP/night. 3 nights = 546 GBP. Luckily, there are cheaper options, searching Iceland Express Hotel site I found the cheapest hotel for 126 GBP, also for 3 nights (not per night).
The total price for travel (including return), hotel and fan fest is: 74+74+126+30 GBP = 304 GBP = 36,596.2 ISK.
You will still have to pay for the travel to and from the airport in the UK and in Iceland. And of course food and shopping and incredibly large amounts of alcohol which is really expensive there. The only thing not included in this self made package is the airwaves festival ticket, and I don't really know about pricing for it either.
Also, please note that the Fan fest packages are prices for one person, if you book for 2 persons and stay together in a hotel, while the package I "made" is for one person. This is a package you'll have to put together and order yourself though, and I don't take any responsability whatsoever for it, neither does CCP, SÝminn, ISD or Santa Claus. But it is a way to get the price down. This of course works for people outside the UK too, but remember that Iceland Express only flies from Copenhagen, London and Frankfurt.

Great work Wrangler I'm sure many will take advantage of your snooping.
I however don't think I will be giving Iceland Air or any of its subsiduarys any of my money if they think they can rip us Brits off. It's disgusting and for them to think we would be stupid enough NOT to spot it is just plain arrogant. We appreciate that this is NOT CCP but, can Oveur not have a word as a "company" and express the fact they will loose out on English money. TBH, im not even sure I would go even if they did say "OK we will drop the pice". I don't like being treated like a mug.
how can they justify charging us Brits nearly double just for the hotel? Darwin 4tw

It takes place in Reykjavik, I doubt it's a specific hotel, last year it was spread out at different locations for different events.
Reykjavik isn't that big anyway.

So the actual EVE presentations take place at CCP headquarters or at a hotel to be named later? Just trying to get an idea of what's what. There's about $300 difference in pricing depending on what hotel you choose to stay in. -

From what I have heard Reykjavik has 1 major street with shops, hence in my humble shopaholic opinion it's not a city its a village
For the men taking along their wives, I wouldn' mention this to them if they are into shopping.

As Gunstar Zero said, it took place at pubs and places around Reykjavik, and one conference center. Although I think it was planned to take place at Nordica, at least one of the events, it had to be moved because there were so many people. And, face it, for $300, you can walk.

Heh, I wouldn't recommend shopping anywhere in Iceland, except in the tax free stores at the airport and possably some souvenirs. But Iceland is very expensive and chances are everything is much cheaper where you live.
