Edited by: corporal hicks on 27/06/2005 15:02:02 ok looked at making my own package and came up with this 18-24th flights london stanstead to Iceland return with Iceland express.
ú198 for the flights
Flying with Icelandair on same dates =ú172 from heathrow cheaper again...
6 nights in the SAS Radison Hotel..4 star in Iceland. at ú54 per night single room smoking ofc :)
ú327 for the Hotel inclueds breakfast ect.
So total would be ú525 for 6 nights, have to do transfers extra and fanfest and Airwaves pass but worth it more than Nordica.

Edited by: Jahl Freyzi on 27/06/2005 15:15:36 Used Icelandair's website to post a query last Friday (asking for clarification on the UK package price).
I finally received a reply today...
"I will be out of the office starting 24/06/2005 and will not return until 01/07/2005.
For further assistance please contact Paivi Kapanen on 020 7874 1024 or email her on [email protected]"
3 days for an "out of office" reply? And why is the Icelandair website query form pointed at someone who is "out of office" anyway?
Thought you might like to know...

Edited by: Omber Zombie on 27/06/2005 16:04:44 well, being from the otherside of the planet, i decided to stay a little longer in iceland and soak up the happy joy that is that country - this is what it will cost me (in pounds, so double it for my currency)
Thank you for your message and interest in Icelandair Holidays.
The package based on a single room for 7 nights is #1,029 and for a twin/double #770 per person.
this is to fly in on the 18th and leave on the 19th (to and from london) so... I think i will book my own flights/accom and pay for fanfest pass from the store. Otherwise, I'm not coming... -----------

CCP is just as unhappy with the FanFest pricing as the players are. We want the FanFest to be affordable without having to resort to alternative travel arrangements, like booking an Airwaves package and buying a FF ticket from the EVE store or booking a flight from London to Boston, Boston to Paris, then Paris to Reykjavik.
We are attempting to work out reduced pricing with Icelandair. Please show a little patience in the interim.

Kieron I am sure you guys are doing a great job mate, no offence was ment by me anyway, I know its Icelandair doing this not you guys and I think the whole community knows that. I was just trying to keep peeps posted on my findings. And to try post some better deals I came up with.
I will ofc be waiting for the final outcome, I have not decided to definitly not go as I had so much fun last year.

No thanks, I don't want email addys, I want THEM
But seriously, I want the Quafe Queen tradition to continue. Both because I'm male and horny , but also because there really IS no point in having a QQ04 if you don't intend on having a QQ05. And if CCP decides to use the same agency as last year, chances are one of them will be a distant relative of mine. Sure looks like the girl I visited last year (no THAT kind of visit, hehe)...

How much of the FanFest itself is planned around the Nordica Hotel? Does Iceland have taxis? Someone earlier mentioned staying at a B&B, which is an appealing idea to me also, since probably most of my time will be spent geeking out with all the space people and/or spacing out with all the geeked people, it might be my only means of tasting a little Icelandic culture.
How cold does it get in October in Iceland? I would be coming from Florida, so subtract an extra 15-20F degrees for normalization.
Does ReykjavÝk have an acceptable nickname, so I don't have to spell it again?
Thanks.
PS, still no one has told me of the Icelandic bootie count.

I should imagine all of it. Unless the Devs want to plan bus tours to CCP's Ivory Tower and hand out foam bats as we pass TomB's desk.
Quote: Does Iceland have taxis?
... erm... even countries like Somalia have Taxis. Why wouldn't Iceland?

So you will be the guy walking around in 5 wooly jumpers I guess. Joking, but it will be quite an adjustment. Last time I went to Orlando and Ft Lauderdale, it took me 2 weeks to adjust to the sweltering heat and humidity, and by then I was boaring my flight back to Manchester via Atlanta. When i got back, it was very sunny (uncharacteristic for Northern England) and people were walking around in their shorts, t-shirts and sandles with sunglasses on complaining about the heat. As soon as I stepped off the plane I was shivering like mad saying it was too cold, and had my coat on. I was getting some wierd looks as I walked through the arrivals area.. ------

Excellent! See, now maybe CCP should use that as evidence against Iceland Air as well as our forum posts?

Monty, you're killing me. Every time I see a post by you, the quote, "Smithers, bring me the blood of a young boy." runs through my mind! As for the pricing that 2ippy quoted, we have a lot of price quotes in the communication going back and forth.

I may be jumping to conclusions here, but I suspect that the person at IcelandAir putting together the package still believes that the Fan Fest is taking place at the Nordica Hotel (as originally planned last year).
Kieron, if it is possible to re-negotiate the package at this stage may I suggest that the Nordica is NOT the best hotel in Reykjavik for us for a numbers of reasons; it is too expensive, it is too far out and it didnt have nearly enough lovely ladies (lots of smart young men, but not my thing). I dont know anyone that used their pool, their gym or sauna, etc. May I suggest, therefore, that you could re-negotiate for a hotel nearer the centre that might even be a little cheaper? I would certainly trade all those extras for a shorter trip to the bars, restaurants, night-clubs and Fan-Fest centre. That's where I want to be. I'm not fussy whether it is 2 star or 4 star.
Even if it is only for the Brits? And I really do want to see all those crazy nutters like Monty and Jason again. (I may also need my head examined).

As I posted there the Radison SAS park hill i think it was had rooms at ú54 a night as opposed to the nordica at a whopping $172 per night..it would want to be 5 star for that and its not, the pool and all that crap btw is not inclueded in that price.
