Originally by: Jin Entres I'm disappointed that there is no package offered from Finland. I sent them an inquiry, but I might to have to take a connected flight and get the package from Sweden.
I got an answer from the local Icelandair office and they ARE indeed arranging the package for Airwaves/EVE. I will have to wait until after mid August before I can make a reservation, though, but I'm definitely coming \o/

I purchased the fan fest through the CCP icelandic airwaves music festival pass when it was first posted on the site (2 months ago).
I purchased icelandic air's festival package, but now your telling me that CCP now have there own package that includes the pass?
Does that mean that us players that purchased the package using a link provided from CCP early on got shafted?
Does that mean I paid for a more expensive package that does not include a fanfest pass and arrives a bit later than the 19th, so us people that booked early did we get the short end of the stick?

Did you purchase an Airwaves Festival pass or a FanFest Pass? They are two seperate events. Airwaves does not include FanFest entry, nor does FanFest include Airwaves.

Did you purchase your package directly through Iceland Air, or did you follow the link provided by the FanFest Information Page?

If you purchased a FanFest package, the conference fee is included in the price of the package.

FanFest conference fee is included in the price of any package booked for the FanFest. If you booked an Airwaves Festival package, then you mis-booked and must either purchase a FanFest ticket (65$ USD) or cancel your travel arrangements for the Airwaves and rebook with the FanFest.

What im saying is that I purchased the musicfesteval package BEFORE CCP had a fanfest package deal put together. I used the first links that were posted from the dev blog. What im asking is for those people that booked the music festival package deals before CCP got the fanfest package is do we have to pay for the pass? I believe you answered "yes".

Yes, if you bought the airwaves package the fan fest is not included and will cost you an extra $65.

Its not completely true, but not far off. A lot of the larger bars are music venues for airwaves and so you can't get in without your pass

Not really so bad, if you want to go to a bar with live music, you can pay the fee at the door and only the largest clubs are music venues for Airwaves. I think it costs about 1000 - 2000 ISK ( yes, real ISK, not ingame ISK ) for each concert. You can also just go to a regular pub with no airwaves and pay nothing

Meh... I ordered the Airwaves package back in April. Ah well, already thrown US$1000 at this (extra four nights of hotel so I can make this a real vacation), so another 65 isn't going to matter.

I would love to come but after much soul searching have to decline. The cost from the UK this year is simply to high and the more that go from the UK would tell IcelandAir its OK to screw the brits and the price would go up even more next year.
Well its not.
Last year was a ball and I am sad I am missing it.

I almost forgot, going to Iceland means you can get Duty Free stuff, and that doesn't happen too often these days with the European Union and all that. You can check their website here.

Last year was ú340 for 3 nights sharing including the Fanfest and Airwaves passes, staying at the Nordika (same hotel as this year's package), or ú400 for 3 nights single.
The equivalent this year is ú634.
I've priced up for 7 nights in a more convenient but less luxurious hotel at just about the same as the 3 night Icelandair offer if I add in the pass to Fanfest.
Still trying to decide whether to bother with Fanfest, or have a week in Iceland in September and see a lot more of the country

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the Reykjavik City Hostel can make the whole thing much cheaper. Flights through Iceland Express were ú156 including taxes, and 10 nights at the hostel is ú150. Add to that the fanfest pass and you on about ú350. Plus you're staying for longer so can go on tours etc, or if you have the money, spend the whole time getting bladdered :D |
