Hi.
I am thinking of organising a GankFest 2005. The event will definitely take place in a low security system. Only battlefields are planets and asteroid belts. Only starting ships (noob ships) are allowed.
Anyone interested in playing Ibis vs Ibis or something similar? Would be fun though. Oh, to pirates and gankers, please no ganking people in noob ships other than in noob ships yourselves. Would be fun to have mass newb ships flying around.

I'd be down, a corp m8 and I have ibis fights to settle disputes all the time. Only question I have is regarding equipment. What we do is limit the equipment to that which comes on the ship........so 1 basic miner and 1 civvy weapon of race 
If its open season for equipment I'll be there with a t2 velator of dooooom

Well. Firstly, we need to see we have enough people who are interested. Any number from 30 to 50 should be fine with me to organise an event. Only a few rules at the moment, subjected to change.
1. No podding.
2. Killing n00b ships are allowed.
3. Fit anything you want on your n00b ship, only criteria is, you must use your n00b ship to enter the event.
4. Anyone is allowed to participate, only no podding are allowed since there may be older players with implant who may wish to participate (but hard to control in case if some people just enter the system and start killing n00b ships and podding after that.
5. Need some soft of security people to put things into order.

Yea, one of the 0.1 to 0.4 systems. Need player security team to take care of rowdy ppl who think they can go ganking everyone during the event though. Like I said, everyone is welcome incl. pirates, murderers, scums, bounty hunters, traders, whoever^^

Yea, one of the 0.1 to 0.4 systems.
May I suggest using my maps (see Linkage ) to locate a system that's a nice dead-end with a 0.5 on the 'nice' side. That way you should be able to gate camp it easily.

You really should hold this in 0.0, cause if you get a killing spree ur going to b nailed with a bad sec increase fast, there r plenty of 0.0 jump in points from empire so its not like ur going have a hard time looking. Or you could even ask a friendly alliance if they will do bouncer for u to make sure it dont get gate crashed... |

The idea of fighting only in noob ships have always made me laugh...I love the idea...and will join if I can. Since I work strange hours.
So post a time, date, and location...and lets see how this all goes down.
What's the prive for the last living noob ship?
I think it would be even great if it would have only one civvy gun and basic mods for the ships...that way it will be about skill more then mods. But hey either way..LETS GET IT ON!!!

I'm game, allways been lots of fun doing noob fights with corp m8's, and if we could do near a station, everyone could get a new noob ship. Just assemble/repackage it before you enter it so you can fit an extra noob gun.
Please post time and date soon 
EDIT: Oh, yeah, it should be held in 0.0. Perhaps in Providence? CVA could perhaps provide with some protection? Perhaps we could get some of Stain Alliance to do the bouncing also?
Just ideas for thought.

To those who have given me help in setting up this, thanks ;)
I will be looking at dead-end systems in 0.0 for venue, and probably will pick those with the offered bouncing services from various alliances. So please do post in this thread to show interests.
Also, I will plan more when the numbers are getting to about 40 interested pilots. I guess, I will be planning for at least 40 pilots min. but late arrivals are always welcomed ;)
So interested pilots, pls post here and when I see the thread is large enough then I will pick a date and venue and will contact the appropriate bouncing services.
Actions:
1. Prizes - TBD, any corp willing to sponsor? Mebbe 1st prize a BS, then HAC then BC/C or just some ISKs?
2. Venue - depending on bouncing service.
3. Date - depending on interested parties.
4. Pilots - pls post to state interests.
5. Bouncers - pls post to state interests.
6. Rules - drafting, only killing and no podding. Also entry to venue must be in shuttles/n00b ship else risk being bounced by bouncers.
Objectives:
1. Reliving day one of Eve-online?
2. n00b fights.
3. Fun.
4. Giving everyone a chance to try out PvPing ;)
All of those actions above will be updated from time to time

Well, when and if I do go to their territory for this event, I will not be blue. I am red and also many others as well and neutrals will not be blue as well. If they are NBSI, then no point for the event though...

My idea is a noob is someone who is just starting out...has basic skills and working on more.
Getting a free BS even if your unable to fly it you would still have it waiting for whenever you had the skills to fly it. Trust me...I trained gallente idustrial for amonth and bought the ship way before I was able to fly it. Allows me to just jump right into the ship.
But if you want money you can sell the sucker and make a nice bit of isk for a noob.
I'm hoping for a freighter prize..hehe.

So, since I lost my implants on day 2, I don't mind going into a noob slugfest and see if I can get anything out of that, BUT...
If I read about the Velator of DOOM, Tech2 weaponry and skilled PvPcombatants, why would I even bother going there, except maybe to learn about PvP combat? I am not even sure if I am interested in PvP combat; having experienced it in other games, I notice that as a newbie I am just a clay dove for experienced players. Add to that, that my main interest is not so much as to be good at PvP combat...
OK, I admit it, I would only be in it for the getting...

At the end of the day what have u got to lose? Its a ship that will get automatically replace when it gets blown up for free. Also the non pvper of eve will get to see what its like o get into a gankfest. And yes il b trying my best to fit a single 280mm II artillary cannon to my reaper. Shame its probably the only thing that il be able to fit on it...

Jenny, you might want to consider picking a 0.0 system without a station/outpost.
If not, everyone who lost the ship can dock and continue the fight instantly... there would be no end to the contest.
You need to close the gates for this aswell.

For those players that don't want to get jumped on the way, just create an alt and do this then it really doesn't matter when or if you die.
Some several different events would be great too. Like a one-on-one event and then a giant furball. Could be close to a station with med center, and if playing an alt dying wouldn't matter. if some really wanted to that's how it could truly be a noob GankFest!

As for fear of equpment loss, frack it I'll just use T1 gear and rely on the skills. As for the clone, it takes a couple of hours of rat killing to get the money back.

An idea might be to have the event in a place with a station, so everyone can return and get into a new noob ship. Just assemble and repackage to create noob guns.
Then have a few rounds. A FFA and some teams. Perhaps a 20 vs 20.

hm... chances are there will be an ERA event this wednesday.
Anyways, ERA or EVE RADIO ARMY is where a buncha listeners under the leadership of DJ Doby take their newb chars in newb frigs and pester some low sec sytem, usually we all get killed in the process but i tell u it's lotsa fun seeing 50+ newby frigs warp into a 0.0 system.

Reminds me of a duel of my mate two days ago or so.
We had a 'G' in our system, who was in a POD.
We allowed him to get a rookie ship from another station and our diplomat wanted to get a rookie ship too to duel him.
Our CEO was against it because he was needed as a tackler somewhere else.
Well our diplomat got his rookie ship anyway and went to the duel, but got shot by our CEO. So our diplomat just got another rookie ship and then he and the 'G' managed to duell somewhere between planets.
While my CEO was a bit annoyed by the lack of discipline, I found it quite funny.
Btw. 'G' won, but was also in structure.

TBH, I am planning not to restrict any fitting requirement. I am planning on working on the philosophy, "if you can fit it, use it" for the gankfest. Doubt anyone can over fit with overpowered stuffs.

At this point we need a Location, GMT and confirmation from a Corp willing to provide a blanket of Security. Of course a exact "when" and "where" would inspire all things to fall into space .
Suggestion for determining a Time and Date:
Time:
Perhaps we can determine what could be the best GMT for GankFest 2005 by averaging the "times that pilots can particpate" from the feedback of the first 40 Pilots.
Starting with the confirmed Pilots fore-mentioned, Pilots pick the time that you can particpate (i.e. 00:00: GMT) and post it.
Date:
Simply respond "yes" or "no" to the follwing question.

I'll be in too. Another idea is to haul some Noobattler with a freighter in. Some ppl make a lot of new chars and trade them before entering. Delete char and trade etc. (You have to wait some hours while deleting 2, but if 10 ppl do it they gather about 40 ships in a day)
It is possible, some ppl get to know very late and all Noobattler will be sold out and it would be a tragedy if anyone wants to join and can't, cause he has no ship.
Haul them to the neighbour system and sell them for 1k ISK so ppl don't have to jump X jumps in a Noobattler.

A couple of suggestions: We can easily make the event secure by holding it in highsec space. You can shoot at Gang-members without any penalty right? (or is that only corp members?)
Also, Can we restrict all smartbombs - period? I don't want to have to replace a clone because I wanted to battle in a free-frig.
You can easily "make" rookie ships. Just get a bunch of shuttles and park them outside a station.
1) Self-Destruct -> re-dock.
2)Hop in rookie ship undock.
3)Eject from rookie ship and fly your pod over to another shuttle
4)Repeat
Anyone wanna give me a few Minnie Rookie ships? I don't wanna be forced to use rails =)

No warp out from battle
Last we were playing in teams of 2 players.

Sorry to everyone for unable to manage this properly. Got too many things going on at one time, both in EvE and in RL. I will see how it goes and if I am much avail in RL, will try help in organising it better.
What I did:
1. Did ask around -V- for a deadend system but everyone was a bit busy so, cant find a proper system nor bouncing service to have this event.
2. Problem is to find an alliance that is not totally at war/busy currently to help to provide bouncing service.
Sorry again to everyone for the delay. Will try to contact Cyriel soon to help him host this event.

2. No using safespots (because of wasting time and no chance to find using noobships). Only sun, planets, belts and moons warping to are allowed.
3. Last person standing. 30 mins knockout before last bell (end of fest).
4. Only 1 entry per person, no coming back with more ships.
5. No podding.
6. No killing/podding hostiles or war targets.

You should chat to the ISD guys while your at it. This is obviously a big event and they can help make it happen. How about it forum mods? Pass the details over to those that you think can help?

Jenny, Sounds like a cool idea. I have a couple of overseers personal effects that I can donate as prizes for the comp. They're not worth a great deal 100-500K ISK. But can still be sold to CONCORD for ISK to buy skills, etc with.

I've got a GREAT IDEA that would solve so many of these issues with organizing and finding bouncers for Gankfest!!!!!

- Let's put this new can-flagging system to good use and get CONCORD to moderate the festivities for us!!
- We could have it in ANY >.5 security system.
- The combatants all steal from each other's can just before aggro.
- then NO ONE has to protect us noob-shippers, and we can have it anywhere.
- The only challenge becomes finding a low-TRAFFIC system. (the first person that suggests Jita is invited to my can)
This way we could also organize individual matches based on who steals from who's can, or entire all-outs where we all steal from each others..
A good way to set this up would be:
1. Team/Player A drops cans in bel1, while Team/Player B drops in belt 2
2. Each team/player swaps locations and steals like mad-noob-can-poppers.
3. Everyone pulls in their remaining cans. (so noone could come in after the drops and get free aggro)
3. Both teams/players meet up somewhere else for combat. (belt 3?)
I'm sure some of the nuances of the 'finely tuned' can-flagging system may result in a few concrdokkens in the system, but who cares? it's a NOOB SHIP, you'll have another waiting at station, and it's not like Concord is gonna pod you?

If you really need the extra security, I can stay out and use my uninsured BS to aid in the security line.
Yet, honestly, I think you should try the can-thing, however, no other competition I know publicly performed that.

I wish to join in also... shame it's been such a while since anyone has posted anything about it though.
I think it would be easy enough to do in high sec if it were duels, via can flagging, but you could do a mass battle if you devide the group into a few gangs, have every member of the gang jettison a unit of ammo (or civilian mod heh), and have everyone pick up something out of 1 can of a member of the other gang.
That way you're instantly shoot-able by the entire enemy gang, and your entire gang can shoot at everyone who took something from one of the cans of one of your gang-members.
We can repeat this, once one of the gangs has been destroyed, you devide up the survivors into 2 gangs again, and repeat.
The defeated people can go get and set up a new newbieship, and start all over again to produce the best of the rest, or just go duel a bit heh :)
I've been offering a newbieship duel in ammold for the last few days, anyone who wishes to fight me gets a few t1 guns and mods, sometimes a skillbook, and anyone who wins gets a free frigate of choice, it's a good introduction into pvp for the new people I think, 5 of them have now been setup with variously a breacher, a vigil, 2 rifters and a kestrel heh.
I'd be willing to donate a frigate of choice to any real newbie who participates, regardless of how well they do.

UPDATE:
I found a system that would eliminate the need for a mess of cans or concern for Security Rating hits. It is 0.0 Space and we are welcomed by the natives to hold the event there. Also I have worked a way to filter out or reduce the chances for "unwanted guest" and isolate the event.
 Right now would be the time to confirm your interest.
I need to know how many Pilots in which preparations will be made for. The event time and place will not be announced here the Forum for safety reasons.
Within two weeks, I will evemail the confirmed Pilots.

Just 1 low slot, 1 mid slot, 2 high slots; I advise banning the use of drones in reapers, I do believe they are the only newbieship with a drone bay, but 1 light drone is still quite a big firepower boost for a newbieship ;)

So that's it has been said clearly:
NOOBSHIPS ONLY ... Hence the name NOOBships, no exceptions!
Only Noobships will be allowed into the event area. Any Pilot in the system of the event with a ship class other than a noobship will be reported to the native forces. Any Pilot that was not invited and attempts to enter the area of the event will be considered hostile and dealt with.
I will be asking for a set of strong eyes from the native force if they could be present at the EvEnt so that any call for assistance would be immediate and appropriate as the natives deem fit. I have chosen a location wisely.
The Noobship Gankfest is an event for the EvE community and for the love of the game.

Conflicts and Tranqulity Funkiness
This weekend made it evident that the event should be delayed till the universe is behaving within normal parameters again. A couple of conflicts have gotten in the way as well. Still, I'm confident that the day of the event is just around the corner (I'm witholding event details like Date and Time for security reasons).
Rather than sending out 120+ EvEmails individualy, I created a mailling list. All that is needed to be done is for the universe to normalize and hit the send button.

Ok, Xercore will definately be videoing the event, so make sure to have all your shipss waxed and looking spiffy! lol But, depending on how much footage I can get, there should be a video of the event out a week or so after it happens. If any of you that are in the event for some reason do not wish to be immortalized in FRAPS, please let me or Cyriel know with an eve-mail. Here's to a REALLY fun time!!!!

It hasn't happened yet and you still have chance to join in.
It would be nice if I could publicly announce a time date and location for this but if I did, well I could be advertising to the wrong person(s) whom would be lame enough to get the unoriginal idea that crashing a event meant to be enjoyed by the EvE Community "would be cool" (yep, there are emotionally, socially and mentally challenged persons that think like that).
I apologize for keep hinting "soon". There have been events in EvE that have been delaying this. It would be nice if I could convince people to stop shooting long enough for us to get our gank on, but yea, we all know how that goes.
Of course more than anyone else I know when is when. The anticipation for me is brutal. Ometoch has picked a extra hard drive so that we can record the Gankfest and share footage with the rest of EvE.
It will all workout and be worth the wait.

I apologise if this as been said before, but I don't really want to read 11 pages :/
With the number of greifers that are present in EVE, you could be in for some disappointment when they show up. A stabbed out smartbombing bs (you dont need to lock to use DB) could spoil the day :(
May I suggest the event take place in high sec, and you use warring gang invites to allow ppl to fight without concord interference. Should be reasonably simple to setup a couple of alts in diff corps to war dec each other. Then simply invite contestants into that gang.
Just an idea.
