Okay, no free outposts, but free dreads and freighters for many. It seems that in the patch to RMR, a number of people got all the dreads and freighters they had in production at the time auto-completed for 0 build time, in addition to getting their minerals back! Yes, that's right, they got a free insta-built dreadnaught, many of them, and this wasn't just for one person. So my questions are...
If I had an outpost being built at RMR patch, would I have gotten it for free as well?
Did anyone get a free outpost this way? (EDIT: Okay, I dont actually expect you to tell us if you did.)
Is anything going to be done about all these free Dreads and Freighters people got?
Might seem to you like I have some personal interest in this issue, and of course you'd be right :) one of the people that got the many (yes, more than 2) free dreads is a direct enemy of mine, so that means i've been set back the equivalent of 4ish dreadnaughts in order to catch up to them. So yeah I have self-interest in mind here, sue me! ;P

The issue isn't as much that they auto-finished, but that they auto-finished and all minerals inside were returned.

Is this true? That is how I read it at first but some people told me otherwise. IF it is true, then CCP this is an outrage! Finishing the production is obviously necessary and not terribly consequential. Giving select players 700mil to X billion in free minerals is. Can we get an official reply on this issue?

CCP had to instantly finish production and research on all items and bluepints.
They implemented a new factory system and instead of whiping all the jobs out (and potentialy losing minerals, bpos and starting a big fiasco) they just completed them instantly. I dont know why the min's came back but it doesnt really matter.
Funny how ppl always find somthing to whine about..
Marry christmas to those that got free dreds :)
P.S. I doubt it would affect an outpost the same because they are not built in a factory.

This is no small issue that doesn't affect others mate... these are Dreads, which are used in alliance wars against other alliances. 6 free Dreads can turn the tide of a war and cause the side that would have won to lose, thus, it is a valid complaint. I'm sure lots of BS and HACs were auto completed with the mins returned as well, but I am not going to even mention that, as it is a small issue. Giving one alliance 6 Dreads and not their enemy is not a small issue. If CCP logged in and gave BoB (for example) 100 free HACs for no reason at all, don't you think their current target would (rightfully) complain? 100 free HACs is about the same ballpark value as 5-6 dreads by current market value.

Think of it this way. With all the free minerals comes the ability to buy yourself and your corpmates game time cards. If this is true, CCP is in one sense giving real money to those who happened to have large ships under construction. Does that make it hit closer to home?

Pretty sure it's true, since one person that got 1 or 2 for free told me he did. He's not trying to hide it, and not trying to exploit it, but if everyone else gets to keep their free Dreads/Freighters, he's going to keep his too.

It was in the notes somewhere, before the patch was deployed, that
"Any production jobs already in place will be completed, and the minerals will be returned to your hangar."
So .... right before the patch is deployed, start building some dreadnoughts. Patch deployed, dreadnoughts built instantly, and all minerals returned to your hangar. A free billion-and-a-half ISK, multiplied by however many dreads you set up to build.
I knew about it. I just don't have enough money to work this sort of exploit.

Would sure want to hear an officiall statement about this from CCP. I thought CCP were all working to make this game fair, and they do something like this (if its true)? To all of you that whine about people that thinks this is un-fair, you are probably carebears who never been in a war. We are not talking about a simple cruiser or something here, it is actuall Dreadnoughts thats on the table. There are probably many corps out there working their asses of to afford ships like this and then some just gets them for free, just like that. This is not right (if it's true).

Maybe CCP will notice when eve's market crashes out of control and the TQ server becomes like the test server- where nothing really matters and everyone has dreds or titans and then the entire game lags up to the point where noone can play and we all whine for a refund on all the money we ever spent building up our characters.

I got a SLIGHTLY reduced cost ship...but I only had a day or two left on the build so didn't really make much of a diff.
To be fair you could have taken MUCH more advantage of it and set up a job on a frieghter/dread etc for a 1 level ME which would have saved over 6+ weeks and in the long term would have been a LOT more cost effective than getting a free/cheaper ship built.
To flip it on it's head what would have happned if ALL jobs got ejected...
ME/PE research lost/mins lost etc.
You can make some of the ppl happy some of the time but you can't make all of the ppl happy all of the time.
Life is unfair! Why make a game that is supposed to mirror real life (in a sci fi kinda un real way) fair?
Live with it....if I had not benifited from this I wouldn't be fussed. You have not lost anything and it's not as if the vast majority have benifited either it is a TINY proportion of the eve community.
I'll wager MANY MANY more benifited to some degree with the hundreds of thousands of jobs/copies/research that was goin on NOT just frieghters and dreads.

Influx of free money into game is not good. Next time some people exploit and it goes unpunished because you can't please everyone. Fix this..

The funniest thing is some of the people whinning here that producers got a unfair advantage by getting free ships due to the industry/research makeover, happen to be the same that bought loads of Control Tower's before the patch to gain from reselling them after patch when npc prices magically quadrupled...
Don't forget to whine to yourself first for profitting from the patch before complaining about others...

The person I spoke to, said they got the minerals back as well, they got the item for FREE, thats the entire point of the thread.
He is stupid to admit this, since it makes him more likely to have it taken away if/when they decide to rectify this bug, so I doubt he was lying. He had nothing to gain and lots to lose by saying this.
EDIT: Will someone that got stuff completed for free please be honest and post here telling us? At least with an alt.

They said it was a present to apologise for the server destroying their gameplay for so long or something like that. I didn't lose anything. Was really careful with my ships. Those that lost them were rewarded. I was a bit annoyed at the time.
Naturally, people were in uproar about it. However, a year (I think) on, the game is still here and the incident is all but forgotten. It didn't ruin the game and neither will this.
No one said it would ruin the game (if they did, they were over reacting), just said that it's wrong and should be fixed. 5 people macro-mining wont ruin the game either, but it's wrong and they should be stopped. This has a larger effect than that does.

This is just one corp i know of, and i'm sure there are many others. GG CCP

This makes my efforts worth a lot less than they were before the RMR update. I enjoy competing with other manufacturers and traders to make isk and hopefully move into more profitable markets.
Billions of isk worth of assets given by CCP for free to already very wealthy players is very unfair.

Taking a ook at the history of all previous major expansions to Eve, it can be seen that the immediate completion has happened on every occasion. I believe it was also there in the Dev Blogs, as was the price increase in Towers and change to Damage Mods.
Many canny traders bought up huge quantities of Towers before the batch, and hoarded Named Damage Control units previously destined recycling.
Similar changes have caught many out on previous patches, and those that missed out last time, I'm sure were careful to be more alert for the RMR patch changes.
The issuing of both the freighter and the construction parts to players was unfortunate, but it's effects won't be felt for long. And who knows, maybe those players didn't even read up on the tower price increase?

Right it's happened/not happened depending on who you believe.
Instead of the whining why not suggest how CCP should have handled this?
I can't see a better way for them to change the manufac and research jobs without screwing SOMEONE over.
Option 1. Complete all build research.
Effect: Players get manufactured goods MUCH quicker...whats the build time on a dread/frieghter etc?
ME/PE Research completed....whats the reasearch time for ME/PE on a Dread/Frieghter?
Option 2. Cancel all outstanding jobs
Effect: Manufac jobs lose mins. Have to start jobs from scratch. ME/PE research lost. Have to start from scratch.
Short term effect I would expect producers of items to jack up prices to compensate.
Ohhh and the producers would be fecked off...the biggest cost in eve is TIME.
So someone PLEASE tell me how they could have handled this better?
You CAN NOT please everyone...which is why I am guessing CCP has not said anything about this.
Ohhh and I didn't think you were supposed to "quote" a GM response...

Thats what they should have done and that was the plan according to the devs, instead they did that AND gave people the minerals used in the production back. Its rediculous.
The faster production times wouldnt have bothered anyone, it offers no major advantage. People getting faster production time and billions of ISK for free, is just lame. ------------------

I had 400 shuttles going in the oven so i know what happened when RMR came out.
Basically it force finished the run it was making when rmr was release then ejected the REMAINING minerals and the bpo back into my hangar, along with a single shuttle.
Basically all current jobs were finished and the remaining minerals for subsequent runs (if any) were given back, the minerals taken in the job being finished were used as normal.
Now lots of people of course read the blog and put their dreads into production the day of the patch, or very close to the day of the patch, knowing they would get insta cooked, but they shouldnt have got the minerals from that job back, AND the dread in their hangar.
But then lots of people also mass bought skills/pos/capital construction parts/minerals and began to re-sell them at rediculous prices as soon as the servers came back up but nm, what ever floats ya boat.

So you would be happy if all the producers in eve suddenly had all dreads/frieghters built in 1 day?
Thats was the original poster's issue in that an opposing corp had a couple of dreads complete and he would have to play catch up....
All I am saying is someone would be pished off.
If I had the mins and BPO's/BPC's I could have started 15 dreads off and had them built in 1 day...would you have been happy then...doubt it!

I wouldnt have cared then because you would make the same profit youd normall do only slightly faster.
Under the current system you would have 15 dreads AND the minerals for another 15 dreads, which is pretty damn unfair. ------------------

In that case i wouldnt care because you would make the same profit youd normally do only slightly faster this time, not to mention thats simply required for the new system to come in.
Under the current system you would have 15 dreads AND the minerals for another 15 dreads, which is bad.

If this is true, then the fact that people got their things insta-built doesn't bother me too much. It was unavoidable due to the change to the manufacturing system
But the fact that they got their minerals etc back does. That's a real big slap in the face to everyone else.
They should still have to invest the required resources into what they produced. Especially when your talking on the scale of dreads etc.

If course im not going to agree to your pov simply because its equal to GMs handing out faction ships to their friends. Their reason; "Its okay, if we dont do someone will be unhappy, if we do hand out ships someone will be unhappy too so well just give random people an unfair advantage in the game".
Theres a diffrence between someone being unhappy and someone being unhappy because of a stupid reason. If someone would be unhappy about the fact that someones dread got produced fast, at the same price resulting in no real advantage, then thats a stupid reason.
If someone is unhappy that the devs apparently support and encourage exploiting of game mechanics, id say thats a pretty good reason to be unhappy. If it was small scale like the insurance issue then meh, i could suck it up because 100 mill isk wouldnt make to much of a diffrence anyway.
People getting handed billions of isk for no valid reason is a good reason to be unhappy. ------------------

I dont think you even read this whole thread.. It has nothing to do with people getting their dreads/freighters built quick. It was the fact that they got FREE dreads/freighters. Thats right, Free. Just in case u missed that part again

Completed the builds for those that had the needed materials, and consumed the materials it takes to build it, not give them the item for free.

No, actually complaint was that they were completed for free... 0 mineral cost. The time thing sucks, but not enough that I'd post about it.
I'm waiting for the guy who told me he got his completed for free to log back on so I can confirm it, as he just hinted at it without stating directly before. He just smiled and said he hopes they don't take the minerals back from the people that got their free freighters.
While I can grant it SOUNDS like a nasty rumor that isn't true, people have said they did get it, and others have hinted that they did. Given that, I'd think it bears someone at least looking into it.
If that GM response is real (in which case you aren't allowed to post it AFAIK) then my question is, did he really look into it deep enough that he'd be able to know and then come to an informed researched conclusion, or did he just assume it was a rumor and not look into it? My bet is the latter, my hope is the former.

So, ummm... no one is going to look into this? Is there some way I'm supposed to 'properly' ask that it be looked into? Petition doesn't seem right, especially since I don't have the character name of the people, only IRC names and/or alt account chars (who will likely deny getting 5+B ISK for free).
Will someone please look into this and reply here that it's being looked into? Please?
If the answer is that you know it happened but aren't going to do anything about it, I'd at least like to know to stop trying.

They forced current batchs yes, so if your dread was in for 10 days and you had 3 days left when the patch rolled out you got the 3 days back, then they screwed up the whole production system with stealth nerfs ect such as not been able to build dreads in high sec or carriers.
Yes most of the big Production cap ship corps benifitted from it and also got screwed as a consequence having to move there production operations to 0.4 space to continue dread production ect and not been able to build carriers as fast as they wanted.
Now for anyone that wants to have a go about it, try move a Capital ship corporations production hanger and then tell me its unfair, I know one corp that has had to have freighters running none stop for nearly a week moving its base because of the stealth nerf on dread and carrier production to 0.4. And that is Freighters not one but many running none stop for a week moving stuff.
Now yes they benifitted from some components or minerals back on production but they also lost a hell of alot of gameplay moving base's ect to facilitate the fact CCP decided that you can only build dreads and carriers in 0.4 or below.

I think you missed the point, there were no free ships, all ship builds consume components over time which means that if there was a hour left on a build you would have recieved nothing or nearly nothing and if there was 4 days you would recieve a percentage, simple fact is the only way its could have went different is if CCP had ejected all jobs from factories and reserch labs, and then this would have caused a massive amount of omg not fair posts from the opposite side!! In fact it would have been worse if all jobs were rejected.
Simple fact in this thread is omg you got something for free I want!! if it had been the other way around were the jobs had been rejected and minerals lost would you have been sympathic to the production corps? I can guess the answer!

Did you guess "Absolutely yes!" because that's my answer, only if what you said happened (they lost minerals AND didnt get the product) you'd hear a lot more complaints, people complain when they lose stuff, but are strangely silent when they get stuff for free, go figure. If you go back and read my clarifications, I have no problem that the jobs were forced to complete. What I have a problem with is that the final product was produced in ADDITION to the minerals (which were supposed to be used up) were also ejected (hence the 'free' part) rather than consumed as they were supposed to be. Perhaps they were only extremely cheap, but 1% of a Dreadnaught is close enough to free for this discussion.
If this didn't happen as stated then:
A) A lot of people are complete liars about things they have no reason to lie about, but risk losing a great deal if they are believed.
B) I (and most of the other posters in this thread, as they stated) have no problem with the situation.
EDIT: And again, all I'm asking is that someone actually look into this enough to know if it happened as I said, or not, and tell us the findings. Is that really so much to ask for such a large issue?
