This issue has pretty much nothing to do with participating in lotteries. But thanks for letting us know you don't care about it at all. I'm sure many, myself included, were wondering. All I'm doing is outlining the fact the goons are metagaming in order to get stuff they'd quite like to have, but is being allocated to someone else. These are the same people that keep on screaming 'sandbox' every five minutes. You can rest assured if the goons had been allocated the stuff and somer blink hadn't been there wouldn't be any threads about this at all. your horrible ad hominem has no consequence on the discussion |

-2 subscriptions.
Simple fact is, SommerBlink is making trillions off the players, and CCP just gave them the means to make trillions more and at the same time make money themselves.
I have always hated the PLEX system, which is just CCP sanctioned RMT, and fully supporting SommerBLink in this just reinforces it.

I can't believe you put Somer, a for-profit gambling site making real cash with CCPs intellectual property, in line with people that have actually been improving our game experience for several years. That would have been my question to CCP: Why Somer? Why not the creators of EveMon, of EFT, Eve-Uni, RvB? Because they do this for free?
Somer can sponsor as many events as they like. It's like saying "Hey, Red Bull is a much better organization than UNICEF. They sponsor so many events! Let's give them more money!"
Somer is buying it's visibility. Nobody would know about it without Kil2, ads on the ally tournament, or this disaster right here. |

Thanks for the clarification. Still means CCP are forcing me to give money to a specific for-profit player group if I want a chance, and that's unacceptable |

No, you can rest assured that if CCP had given goons unique items and forced you to pay goons isk, use their sites/services, etc in order to participate, and allowed goons to exclude people at their discretion then there would be even MORE threads about it, and you - yes you - would have an extremely different opinion on it.
You have some incredible problem with goons, to the point where it defeats logical thought and you are defending a creator/overseer of a game essentially 'cheating' for their favoured players, but because some of the people - and I must stress "some"- speaking out against it are are people you are buttsore about you have to react the opposite way, and that appears to be your sole reason for supporting it - because it's something that goons, amongst countless others, disagree with |

If you had even the slightest sense of irony it should be tingling right about now, since it was a very determined posting effort by GSF members back in the day that stopped CCP just sweeping the T20 scandal under the rug. You people are so blinded by your ridiculous hatred you don't even know when we're helping you.
Or maybe some people believe those who provide a service like Somerblink, Like Z Killboard, EveHQ, EveMon, Dotlan and Chiribba deserve special treatment for the work they do for the ENITRE Community.

Exactly, thats why I take the point that if somer blink wants to give away neat prizes they should be bought or manufactured in game thus maintaining the integrity of the sandbox. It saddens me that the self styled defenders of the sandbox are QQ because they didn't get anything. I point this out and I am accused of hate crimes against the goons. In actuality I have no opinion on the goons either good or bad, they are background noise in new eden, part of the story, that's all. Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction... |

It saddens me that you do not understand what Socratic irony is, and that you actually think Goonswarm is mad about not getting free stuff. I really don't know what to say about that, except that I genuinely feel for you because most parts of common cultural discourse must be very hard for you to understand.

Why would CCP be so keen to rush through a proposal to push a gambling site further into the architecture of the game universe? Is this type of feature a new direction for the game? Why would a virtual slot-machine need such speedy attention from the development team? As some previous posters have stated (and I find this, ultimately whether you agree on this issue or not, to be the crux of the argument), given the list of in-game issues that still need to be addressed, and the issues with client stability, why is CCP now given over to investing *any* of its' time implementing 3rd-party gambling support?? EVE is not a gambling platform, the core gameplay is in no way related to lotteries or gambling applications - everything is either earned or taken. Why has this become such a huge issue in the first place? What the hell is CCP doing?
Why? Because they have a new marketing guy who's completely disconnected from the player base, who's used to being able to push through terrible ideas (former NCsoft staffer here) and thinks an Asian model of game marketing will work in EVE, a game largely dominated by guys in their mid 30's who work in IT. Hes used to working on games where people get excited over purple swords, pets and cosmetic micropayment features I.e. nothing even slightly related to EVE.

Exactly. And then comes the next question : why the marketing guy, who's the least competent when it comes to the game, has been given such a power of decision ? It's not his fault, it's the fault of the guy who, knowing EVE, has decided to hire him. There's the real guilty one, the rotten apple.
More power to the devs, the ones who actually make the game. |

The 'meaningless vanity items' are being given to SOMER for the express purpose of selling lottery tickets worth hundreds of billions. For free. Also they're unique and entering the lotteries will be the only way to get them ever.
Now. If CCP spawned unique items for Goonswarm Federation worth hundreds of billions of ISK on the understanding that GSF would be selling those items, and gave the reason as 'GSF exists and is a big alliance'. They would be giving Goonswarm an unfair advantage. Wouldn't they. |

I thought I read from the first post when SOMERblink was offering this that they'd have free blinks for people that wanted to put a ticket in without adding money. Did I misread that and I have to deposit money and use their service to get a chance at the new swag? If thats the case I guess I won't be able to get a ticket. CCP keeps the CSM in the dark about a major EVE decision, shows favouratism to an EVE player group, repeats T20, and all you guys did was forward them a summary of forum complaints?
Do you not see that this entire scandal occurred because CCP decided to ignore you? That CCP only consults you when they feel like it? During the meeting you should have been shouting "STOP LEAVING US IN THE DARK".
Compose an open letter, threaten to resign if CCP continues with the SOMER plan, alert the gaming media that the CSM is resigning because CCP is ignoring you and showing favouratism. Every single one of you is a representative of a large body of EVE players - coordinate and organise a Jita riot.
Do. Something.
