Solo or group
-Highs- 5xHeavy Missile Launcher 1xDual 150mm II's
-Mids- 4xHypnos Multi's 1xInvuln Shield II 1xLarge C5-L Shield Booster 1xWarp Disruptor
-Lows- 2xBallistic Control (or cap enhancements for you wussies)
-Highs- 5xHeavy Missile Launcher 1xMedium Nos
-Mids- 4xHypnos Multi's 1xInvuln Shield II 1xMedium C5-L Shield Booster 1xWarp Disruptor
-Lows- 2xBallistic Control (or cap enhancements for you wussies)
-Highs- 5xHeavy Missile Launcher 1xMedium NoS
-Mids- 5xHypnos Multi's 1xWarp Scrambler 1x10MN AB II
-Lows- 2xBallistic Control (or cap enhancements for you wussies)
Anyways, use Hypnos only. Don't waste ISK on Tech II jammers unless you want the elite gurista ECM for one extra point (Worth it for the rook). It's something around 35 or so energy per multi-spec with Hypnos+Rook.
Tactic wise, use a good ECM setup you like. It really comes down to how many ECM's you want to use. If you like using just 4x with a bit of tank or 5x with speed or 6x for support. It's all up to you. There is no reason a rook should not fail or lose to any other recon out there unless they fit to counter you or out number you.
ECM platform such as the hypnos can run non-stop on the rook as well. Very good ECM platform ships that have 97-100% jam sucess on a number of cruisers/battlecruisers/battleships/frigs ect. Another good tip is to never engage another rook/caldari recon with just 4x. Go 5x due to there insane recon sensor strengths

Ive not bothered, ive gone for a nos instead. The decrease in locking time and delay in locking after decloaking, make it not worth doing as time is usually of the essence. Save the covert jamming for the Falcon and its amazingly low dps

Why in the world would ya put a warp disrupter on a ship that has a lock range of 180km and a jam range of ~85km. In a PvP battle this would be the ship that chills with the snipers and jams everything and not get close enough to worry about warp disrupting it. When ya put these setups together bear in mind the range you will be most likely engaging at.

I notice that t2 launchers aren't being used. Any reason? Also those setups seem risks for solo pvp - the tanks don't look that strong if you happen to meet a gate camp or someone who already has drones deployed.

Tech II jammers use too much cap, and have much worse fitting requirements compared to the best names jammers, with no advantages over them.

would like to point out that Zakgram was asking why not use t2 LAUNCHERs, not jammers. T2 launchers could really jack up damage output if used correctly.

Uhm, i am currently going out pvp/piracy with this one:
High* 5 Heavy Missle Launchers ( II ) One Improved CD II Medium* 4 Mulit's ( II ), ( bought them on escrow for cheap isk ) 1 Warp Inhibitor, Domination Medium Shield Booster, 1 Dread Invul Field. Low* 1 Ballistic Control II, 1x Stab ( pussssssy FTW!!!! )
I am doing great with that one, well notice that this is my SOLO setup so no whining about a warp scrambler mmmkay.

IMO it isn't. Everyone thinks all Recon Ships are cloak ones, but they aren't. Only Force Recon Ships are. It's just like fitting a cloak on any other ship.

I would personally agree with you. Though there is an arguable excuse for using them.
Namely that the Rook is the kind of tactical ace that you want up your sleeve. What a cloaked falcon does for a cruiser solo camping a gate a cloaked Rook can do for a frig solo camping the same gate.
(ok this post arguably needs some deciphering sorryz)

tank on a rook for fleet? bah!
5 x hvy launcher II 1 x nos or other meaningless mod
7 x hypnos multi
lows = whatever you like really, plate/s, pdu IIs, BCU IIs, up to you, but dont waste time with a tank cause, tbh, you will be main target (you'll be bbq'd if someone locks you and you cant jam them anyway) and when you can lock and jam with multis up to 190+ anyways with maxxed skillz (accuracy goes down a bit after 108 but still pretty constant) its just not worth it

Yeh the stab helps me much,
I once got into a situation in a belt. Brutix ( ECM ) warped in and did Rat Huntig ( HAHA ) but it was a trap, this****ga used my recalibration time to ECM ME and it worked. So im always fitting a warp core stab. Sure is Sure ^^,
Tactic with that setup:
Wait in a Belt, when someone warps in Convoe him and use the time for your recalibration time :) im a****ga i know loool. Target, ECM, Scramble, orbit @ 17km, spit missles and win :)

Actually the gallente recons have pretty good chances to kill a rook. With max skills 2 sensor dampener 2s will reduce max targeting range to 8.7%, 3 will reduce it to 5.0% (both with stacking penalities).
Rook has with skills 187.5 km targeting distance, after 2/3 damperners thats 16.3/9.3 km targeting distance remaining. The only way the rook can win is if it locks first and then suceeds in *every* ECM cycle or if it has an better speed mod than the other ship. Even a celestis could kill a rook if it locks first (or gets very lucky in the jamming cycles).

Add a sensor booster and the numbers are on average: 510 scan resolution and a 300km target range (skills at level 4). Good luck locking first and frankly, good luck hoping one of five multi's at 8+ points each misses every 20 seconds.
Besides, every situation has a counter. Let's argue semantics while we're at it.

One thing I see absent on these setups is a Sensor Booster II. It's important that a Rook gets first lock, and the distance it needs to be effective. This is a ship you can shield tank somewhat, but is better if you don't and play to the ECM strengths. Also, Rook isn't a great ship to fly in patrol type PvP, as optimal warp ins are important. I lost my first rook in a gang warp situation, and I had precision heavy missiles loaded, so couldn't get into proper position in time. For lows, use grav backup arrays or ballistic control units, unless your skills aren't up to par, you shouldn't have problems with cap unless you are using Fury missiles.
Good luck.

When I first saw this ship, I thought, "wow an EW ship with good solo abilities." I do not see many setups with Warp disruptors, or MWD etc. It seems like these setups are mostly 'at range'. So my question is, why not just stick with the Scorpion? What significant advantage does the Rook have over the less pricey, more durable scorp?
Can anyone share any anecdotal solo stories/tactics?
Thanks!

Edited by: Oratu on 06/11/2006 13:11:23 LoL ok Rook is built for one thing and one thing only, jamming. my optimal with t2 jammers is 165-170 plus falloff.
weapons (i wont say what i use)
Mids faction hardner (multi, or just em). one of each race t2 jammer plus 2 Dread multis OR 2 Magnametric, 2 ladar, a radar and a multi (all t2). I also dont mind the later of the two, dropping the radar for a Sensor booster 2.
Lows CPR and a DCU (IFFA)<<inportant bit).
Dont use plates ffs, its a cruiser, 1v1 there should be only 2 things a rook pilots should be scared of 1.) EM fof missiles 2.) t2 DRONES. (and there is a solution to drones, wich i use, but thats for me and me alone)
In a rook, your cap is your life, 25% recharge rate with a good CPR, has shield boost penilty, but if you are getting shot, and u are not quik about it, u are dead anyways, and probobly not using the ship as it was intended. in fleet battles, BE ALLIGNED !!!!, u see lots of flashing yellow, and have no spare jammers, GET THE FARK OUT simple..

I'm going to guess that with an optimal of 170k you'll have some empty slots.

1 on 1 there isn't a normal ship that the rook should be scared of as long as the rook pilot locks first - if you're being hit by something that's hurting while your opponent is jammed when warp out. The plate is for the multiple targets vs. you scenario - e.g. in a fleet battle - gives you a few extra seconds to warp away or stay and fight... you can choose.

I didn't find that in the 15-30 man per side battles I've been in, but I've dumped my rook for a falcon so that I can have a better tank and the ability to choose if I get involved or not.
Originally by: Oratu

You'll struggle to have a good pirate setup since you'll need the mids for jammers - sure against a single foe the rook will have a good shot pretty much regardless of fit, but without a cloak and no decent tank survivability will be questionable against 2 opponents.

tops - 3 assaults, 2 heavy, something else to damage or deny? ( me have a gun for poddage) middles - hypnos multi's, large regolith sheild ext. F-90 pos. subroutines
low, gravi back up and armour plate
reasons?- if u get outlocked you're toast, expensive toast, f90 gives amazing lock time - u can also catch pods inters dont like assaults gravi back up doubles your signal strength, - against falcons, scorps, rooks, plate you say? well when u do lose lock the buffers of sheild and armour are nice....

5x named assault launcher = about 250 grid, with skills you should be able to fit a 1600 plate.
You still get a bonus from the ship for light missiles.

Since Revelations the Rook is now the undisputed king of ecm with a 20% ecm strength bonus per level ( double that of any other), but as with most ecm ships now you have to have most ecm related skills at lvl 4 or above so only the dedicated ecm pilots get the best out of the rook. Fitting one hypnos distortion amp also gives a 20% boost (or fit two). On a final note those thinking of fitting cloaks on a rook; you get a 5.00 sec recloak delay bonus meaning if things turn bad you can lock jam and recloak in 5.00 secs if needed. That sixth high slot is made for a cloak if you ask me

The really sad thing though, is despite being the the undisputed 'king of ECM (I won't, it gets the best bonus, despite being down 2 lows on the scorp)
5s recloak delay helps a _little_ but 12s recalibration, and the locking penalty? Helps but ...
Seriously, I have not seen a rook or falcon used in anger since revelations. I've only seen a couple of scorpions used, and that's only because there were no rokhs handy.
OK, so I wouldn't have seen many falcons if they were used right, but I'm fairly sure people have realised that recon probe scan times are far more useful than rather pathetic ECM strengths.
As I said above. Rook with T2 fit = 7.6 str jamming. Or, if you fit a MWD, web and scram, about an 80% chance of putting a single battleship out of a fight. (Which as a rule, means the drones will munch on your face for a bit, and then it will lock you and you'll die). Then again, a lachesis or arazu will be able to damp a single BS to a point where it's just screwed, and probably still do more damage to it. (I'm a caldari spec, but the celestis I just jumped in to check does 65% dampening with a single T2 RSD)
ECM ships IMO were never all that hot. ECMs themselves, on 'other ships' were too good, I agree entirely, but before Rev, I didn't class any of the 'ECM specialised' ships as actually all that uber. After Rev, you're better off flying something else and running 2-3 RSDs. Even a caracal makes a better ewar platform than a rook now. At least that gets to use HAMs at 19km.

The really sad thing though, is despite being the the undisputed 'king of ECM (I won't, it gets the best bonus, despite being down 2 lows on the scorp)

If you're using a cloak on a rook, or anything else for that matter, as soon as you hit the decloak button the decalibration begins it takes 2-3 secs for your ship to reappear in space so in your example that's 9-10 secs left, you need sig radius lvl5 to fly a rook so even without a SB you're going to lock quick. Also if flown as part of a gang (which it's designed for) you will more than likely be out of weapons range of the enemy as most pvp set ups are for close range ( i say most) so getting locked first isn't usually a problem. If their are other recon ships or inty's present either don't decloak or wait for your gang to come in before doing so. Rokks aren't very robust but they can take a beating of sorts. Several days ago i had to decloak within 9k of a cruiser frig and tier 3 BS so they wouldn't leve belt before my gang came in, true i ended up in structure but my gang got there in time and engaged and i survived. Sensor dampners are very good mods to use but they do have a drawback. If you use them on a large support ship such as a carrier he can still heal his friends who won't be far away from the ship anyway. So you would have to fit every ship in your gang with them depending on size. In solo pvp i agree with you to a point but then you have to be within 20k to scram so be careful what you dampen or fit lots. I guess it depends what pvp situation you find yourself in. If an ECM ship locks and jams a target up it is in effect putting that ship out of the fight and can drastically turn the tide in a gang fight taking out the most serious threat if not physically, electronically. As for prefering a caracal to a rook. Niether have a tank so to speak and they both have 5% kin bonus per level so they hit equally hard (I'm sure rooks can firs heavy assualts missles but i haven't tried so...?). The difference? A caracal has a longer missle range (which you didn't refer to). I would like to see a caracal perma jam anything up to a BS including recon ships and give a carrier serious locking problems. ECM ships are seriously underated in my opinion and every gang should have one when out flying.

No need - With 7 med slots, if you're a true rook pilot, you'd use all those slots for ecm - then you have 2 ecm for each race, except one. And that is easy to judge, just by common knowledge of your enemy.

I was just sort of started flying Rook, to me what i have noticed is that i will not be using it as a solo pvp ship.
I will either take an interceptor along or use it in fleet ops, this to me is the best way to to use the rook full on, to its true potential as a EW ship.
I have used it against some other recon ship and have found that locking first is the key, thereafter the story shall be foretold.
My setup is as follows:
Highs:
5 X Heavy 1 X NOS (Not sure what else to fit, maybe shield transfer for gang ops)
Mids:
4 X Ratial jammers 2 X Multi specs 1 X Sensor Booster
Lows
1 X Damage control 1 X Signal amp
Also have a rig for jamming strength and also one for locking time
Any ideas on changes ?

First off the Rook and Falcon are more support ships in small gangs or fleets, they arnt good solo ships at all..the role of the ecm ships is to jammed and to help take down hostile ships, so ecm strength is needed and havin distance helps your chance of not gettin killed, as you notice the rook and falcon have base 150km range, for small gate camps ,fleet or capital parties I would recommen the falcon with the cloak and its cyno skill bonus, for roamin gangs and large to meduim gate camps the rook would be better in the situation but there is tacklin setups on the falcon and rook but I wont go there just yet..I wouldnt put a mwd on a rook or falcon due to its low cap and its powergrid and with skills and racial jammers you can reach 150km range as for amror tank or plates in lows for falcon or rook is waste of time as you need put in a Signal amp to get your stregnth up for jamming higher strenght better chance of cycles for jammin on hostiles...Since now you can used recon probe laucnher which takes (220 cpu)..with my skills and setup i used i can jammed a bc or bc tier 2 and below for 7 cycles and battle ships for 6 cycles which is enough to keep them out of the fight as i am 180km away....

Highs: 5x heavy missile launchers, 1 improved cloak (optional but it works for how I use the ship) Mids: 2x spatial destabalizer II's, 4x multi II's, 1 cap recharger II Lows: 1 BCU II, 1 signal distortion amp II
No scram since recons are meant to be support ships although I have been known to put one on if I can't find any tacklers
spatial destabilizers in case i run into another rook/falcon
With my skills on this setup I can run all 6 ECMs for about 10 minutes or 5 ofthem forever. Warp in at 50 or just decloak as soon as your tackler has a target pinned and he's pretty much dead unless his drones can take out your tackler.
With all the invention stuff, this setup is pretty cheap (about 50 mil for fittings including the t2 heavies + 50 mil for the ship)

How are you supposed to use a rook in anything other than a gate camp/fleet?
With a jamming optimal of ~85km you are absolutely useless at close range combat, which is what just about all of non-fleet pvp combat is. Also how the heck are you supposed to solo in one? You have a scram with 20k range... so how are you meant to jam them if you are that close...
I must be missing something big here... I haven't used a jammer in a long time, since before optimal was introduced.

Just because a weapons optimal is 85km doesn't mean it works less well at 5km. That's especially true of jammers, which don't have to worry about tracking.
As I'm sure you know, a jammer optimal of 85km, means full effectiveness between 0 and 85km.

This is still up for debate. Some insist the fall-off works negatively so close range jamming is touger. I've heard multiple opinions from many ECM pilots and I've heard both sides insist that falloff does effect close range jamming and some swear that it doesn't.
Would be nice if CCP could clarify it once and for all.

Well I wouldn't know cos I don't use jammers but what I heard is that in the recent nerf they were made more turret like in that they have a falloff. Why would they have a falloff distance in their stats if it means nothing?

Positive falloff ie,, every km in falloff above the optimal is definitely negatively affected. The debate is about negative falloff ie,, optimal - falloff.
eg, (optimal 70km - falloff 35km)* = 35km, so anything that is withing 0-35km of the jamming ship is harder to jam.

My corp m8 flys a rook in gang. He seems to be able to jam everything fine just sometimes people get drones on him. And thats the only thing that sometimes makes him have to warp.
I think two medium smarties in gang is good.

No need for a CCC rig as long as you have EW level 4. You can run give hypnos multispecs just fine without it. I use the 7th slot for a large shield extender too and I may replace that with a hypnos as well and try staying at range. Dont think i`ll have immediate cap issues though.

I suppose I can understand why someone would solo in this ship....you are basically guaranteed able to permajam any single ship in your rook.
Still, this ship is truly awesome for small gangs. Fit the mids with all jammers and 1 sensor booster (maybe a cap booster if you want). The lows should be fit with signal distortion amplifiers to give you that extra edge.
It is pointless to waste valuable mid slots with shield boosters, extenders, etc. Every bonus for this ship is for jammers...fit as many as you can.

tbh i experimented with rigs and rooks alot for about a week the jam strengh rigs add a mediocre improvement in jam strength the t2's are so expensive they are comedic
i opted for extra shield resists in the end but if you dont have recons to 5 then maybe an ecm rig would help but tbh i think the ecm rigs are underpowered in terms of cost/performance other rigs will benefit you more
once again thats opinion not fact if you have the cash to mess around with different rigs i encourage you to do so

i actually like using the ECM rigs for the range on the rook (i think the Particle Dispersion Projectors) I can get my rook up to 212km optimal on Racial Jammers with a 249km Falloff, so its basically the prefect anti-sniper ship, granted to get to that distance you will need the Long Range Jamming and Frequency Modulation to lvl4
But ive been training up my jamming skills pretty much since ive joined eve :P going to max out to lvl5 in all skills hehe cuz iam crazy!

Lows 2 x hypnos SDA (again less cpu than tech 2)
Rigs 2 x signal dispersion augmentor 1(ecm strength boost rigs)
*i also carry 6 spares of best named in my cargo enabling me to fill my mids with with a set racial type if needed for capital jamming or multiple same race jamming. This can prove rather expensive as i found out after losing far too many rooks in recent wars but hey at least i know what it can and can't do now try the above set up with ecm strength skills trained to lvl 5 and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the sensor strength you get tech 2 rigs are dropping in price fast I've noticed

-Medium- 5x Hypno's Multispec 1x Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster (800's) 1x Warp Disruptor II
-Low- 800mm Crystaline Plate Medium Armor Repairer II
This fit requires AWU lev 4 (might fit with lev 3 aswell)
For ppl with lower skills replace t2 with named and swap one hypnos to ab, and med armor rep to small armor rep..... thats the best i could come up with
this fit doesnt deal massive amounts of dmg but its very effective for solo, the key here is to pick up your targets.... so dont go on suicide missions with recons.... in the end they're not made for massive tanking

Hey everyone. Sorry to ask a stupid question but I just recently resubscribed to Eve. I played Eve for over a year and I was a dedicated EW (ECM) pilot with the PlateBB/Scorpion, amongst other things. I heard that ECM EW was nerfed (but not sensor dampening?), but I'm not exactly sure how it was nerfed. I'm still wondering if the Rook is a good gang support ship like I felt it was meant to be (I quit in RMR when the Recon ships came out). I'm even an hour away from training Signature Analysis V, so, grabbing a Recon ship will be easy for me since the Rook looks like 65 mil ISK in my area rather than the old 120 mil ISK or however expensive it was in the beginning...
Personally, I'm going for the Rokh and the Rook unless somebody changes my mind.
Thanks ahead of time for the feedback! ******

Yes, ECM got nerfed. But mainly on non-specialist ships - it's still completely viable on the dedicated ships. Of those boats, the Rook is King and is the definitive support ship in small-mid gang.
Dampers are also rather powerful, and a combination of dampers and ECM is extremely annoying.

I have to agree with that, 1 good Damp and 5 ECM`s FTW. At least if you miss jam its gonna take ur target ages to get a lock anyway so you have time to re-jam or leggit.
I would just like to give a bit of praise for the Falcon, when pirating its very satisfying to sneak up on your unsuspecting prey that is aggro`d and thinks hes gonna nail your mate in a can flipping frig. He`ll soon soil his pants when he hears you de-cloak, slap on the SBII, lock scram and jam his ass b4 casually lobbing furys at him.

Call me crazy if you will... but this is the setup I've been planning to use. Yes, it all will fit. EvE Fitting Tool FTW. This setup is highly skill dependent.
-----
**LOWS** x2 Signal Distortion Amplifiers
**MIDS** x1 Cap Recharger II x1 Sensor Booster II (Scan Res: 570 mm) x5 Multispectral Jammer II
**HIGHS** x4 'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launchers / Caldari Navy Scourge x1 Medium Plasma Smartbomb II x1 Recon Probe Launcher
**RIGS** x2 Particle Dispersion Augmenter I
-----
Each Multispectral Jammer II gives me the following:
Gravimetric Jamming Strength: 9.18655 Ladar Jamming Strength: 9.18655 Magnetometric Jamming Strength: 9.18655 Radar Jamming Strength: 9.18655
x5 = 45.93275
So overall, It'll be...
Gravimetric Jamming Strength: 45.93275 Ladar Jamming Strength: 45.93275 Magnetometric Jamming Strength: 45.93275 Radar Jamming Strength: 45.93275
On top of that, I can run them indefinately. As an EW pilot, I know I'll be called primary. No resistances will help me. So I opted for jamming strength. That and with the optimal bonuses, I'll be staying clear of the targets if at all possible.
This setup was put together with a small (10 man or less) low-sec/0.0 gang in mind. In fleet battles, I opt for DPS.

The x5 isn't correct. Jamming is a chance based calculation of your jam strength versus their sensor strength. My statistics is very rusty, but anyway...
Let's take an example - you are trying to jam a raven. A raven has a gravimetric sensor strength of 22. Each of your jammers has a 9.18655 strength after ship, rig and SDA bonus applied.
So each jammer has a 9.18655 / 22 = 41.76% chance of jamming that raven. Or put another way, a 58.24% chance of failure.
What are the chances that all 5 jam attempts against the raven will fail? 58.25% ^ 5 = 6.7%. So therefore, you have a 93.3% chance that at least one of the 5 jams will succeed.

Edited by: Solomon XI on 03/09/2007 19:13:32 Now see, I didn't know that. I just learned something. Thanks. As you can tell, I know next to nothing about EW. But is that set up good or bad? 93% chance sounds pretty good to me.
And I have a Smartbomb because I can fit it and it's a drone counter. |

I'm not convinced by the smartbomb - its cpu/grid intensive and it doesn't do an awful lot of damage (you won't be one-shotting light drones). If drones are a worry, I'd be more inclined to drop a multispec and go with an ECM burst II - handy for any close in tacklers too. Don't laugh, but think about fitting a salvager instead!
There are a few other situational variations on the fit that you should think about - obviously they involve trade offs...
If you're running around in 0.0, I would strongly consider dropping a jammer for an MWD to help get you out of bubbles quicker, and/or get some range.
A cloak's not essential, but it can be handy when you are camping a gate - enemy scouts won't see you. Simply wait for the victims to engage your gang mates, decloak and ruin their day.
A Large Shield Extender might buy you enough time to warp out if (or rather when) you are primaried in a small to medium sized battle - if you're primaried in a large fleet engagement, you've probably had it.
Another option is a large plate in a low slot instead, but that's less popular since the ECM nerf because you have to sacrifice a signal distortion amp - if you've got recon 5 and signal dispersion 5 (from the numbers earlier, it sounds like you do), then its a trade-off that might be worth considering.
Also, if you know what ships you are hunting, fit best-named T1 racial jammers (higher base jamming strength), rather than T2 multispecs. They have the added benefit of being less cap-intensive, which means you can drop the cap recharger and free up a mid-slot.
Bear in mind that the rook is not a dps monster, and if you have to drop a Heavy Launcher in order to make everything fit, then so be it. Fit precisions and ruin an interceptors day. If things are especially tight on cpu/grid, consider Assault Launchers with precision lights.
If you are sitting with your snipers out beyond 150km, or trying to stay out of the range of gate guns, it might be worth combining the sensor booster with a particle dispersion projector rig to give you that extra range.
Finally, whenever possible always try and warp in at range, and ALWAYS be aligned and up to speed for a warp out.

You should be ashamed of yourself!
Anyway, what's the point of fitting a wcs to a jamming ship? You have just halved your lock time for a start. You corp mates would be dead before you get a lock.

Would it make any sense to toss a T2 ECM Burst in the last mid? Might help you break a lock of that pesky Inty that MWD'd to you.

Umm.. Why not use ECM T2 mods in low slots? Especially with the all-new 3 low slot Rev 3 setup.. 2x ECM mods T2 + one 1600mm plate should work like a charm. |

The Hypnos Sig distortion module gives the same boost as the T2 version but is easier to fit.
The 3 low slots if they make it on to TQ will be very good for us EW Pilots :) -----------------------------------------

Here's my post-Trinity Rook fit. I've had some success with it as a part of a gang, but haven't yet taken it into a solo fight.
Highs: Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II
Medium: Large Shield Extender II Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II Warp Disruptor II Hypnos Multispectral ECM Hypnos Multispectral ECM Hypnos Multispectral ECM Hypnos Multispectral ECM
Low: Signal Distortion Amplifier II Signal Distortion Amplifier II Signal Distortion Amplifier II
I use the Hypnos' because of far superior cap efficiency in comparison to their ECM II brothers. However, I also carry a full fitting of 5x of each Racial ECM II and an extra Multispectral for quick customization. I also carry a Sensor Booster II and a Webifier II as well, these taking the spot of the Magnetic Scattering Amplifier if needed.
When all is said and done, in any of the aforementioned configuration, all modules can run indefinitely, the above configuration is simply my travel fit.
Anyway, I'd be interested in your thoughts and comments as this is my first posting regarding my setups.

This is my solo pvp setup.
With the added low slot and the power of ECM, the Rook is now my fav Caldari solo pvp boat. Okay it's never going to take out any of the big ships (due to it's dps), BUT you can still engage, knowing that you can warp off at any time due to them being jammed to hell
High:
5 T2 HML (CN navy Ammo - ALWAYS HAVE ALL TYPES + precisions for killing light drones\scaring inties)
Mids:
5 Hypnos Multi's T2 Disruptor Sensor booster (locking script)
Lows
800m RT plate 2 T2 Signal distortion Amp
Rigs:
Particle dispersion aug (PDA) - (I use 2 atm)
Hints:
- Turn the ECM's to MANUAL. hit each one in succession. If you use the automatic feature, you'll not know which ECM is jamming the current target. - Don't tank it save the plate. The plate will give you a lot more time when drones start chewing your face (even T2 mediums). It also gives you more protection should you fail a cycle and more time to decide whether to fight or flight - Only use T2 jammers if you want to jam over 150km (they have a range bonus IIRC). Use T1 for cap efficiency. - Watch out for caldari boats and fof missiles! - Always have a SB. If anything locks before you, you've lost your upper hand. - As far as racial jammers go. Some ppl use them, some ppl use multi's. I've tried both and keep coming back to multi's. If you know your enemy for sure, then fit racials accordingly. - Rigs are a must. PDA's are around 7m a pop at most hubs, so it makes sense to get a couple and boost your ships only defence - jamming. - Use heat. Good for getting some extra Dps, but more importantly, getting some extra range from your Disruptor
I'm currently thinking of adding another PDA (3 in total) and dropping an amp for a T2 BCS. Just to get a bit more firepower. We'll see how she goes Hope that helps.

I would say it will be hard to fit :) AFAIK T2 ships have only 2 rig slots .
Can someone explain me where to find targets to kill that don't use ab/mwd to escape such solo setup?

Well, I may or may not be in possession of a freak of nature/hybrid Rook that was bastardised by the Trinity patch.
6 highs, 3 lows!
Hax.
Highs : 5 x HML II (Faction ammo), 1 x Improved Cloaking Device II Meds: 1 x F-90 (Scan Res Script), 1 x Warp Disruptor II, 5 x 'Hypnos' Multis Lows: 3 x 'Hypnos' Signal Distortion Amp
Rigs: 1 x Scan Res Rig, 1 x Jam Strength Rig.
Locking time is the same as normal (just about), but with the advantage of having a cloak fitted to.
Never use her though :( so If anyone wants to buy the above ship, fully fitted with the extra slots, let me know!

Your indeed correct. I saw the 3rd rig slot the other week but forgot they can only have 2 rigs
As for targets, It's solo belt piracy. Most will warp to zero or thereabouts. Quick scanning and overheated disruptor get me most of the kills. I've played around with an AB and it would be a good idea, but you then lose a jammer, leaving 4 on my setup. I think, personally, it's better to have 1 extra jammer and miss a few targets. But that's just me.

lol, that is strange. I take it you had the cloak on before the patch, then scored another low!
It will probably throw up an error if you undock, but i'd be interested to know what actually happens..

As for getting away from you once you have a point on. I usually use the Rook for anything up to BC size. So mostly cruisers etc. They pop quickly enough as I have decent skills. I swap between Rook\thorax\brutix depending on target and age of player.
