That Rifter looks the business! Good work fella!
I have an old work colleague who is now a semi professional model maker and I suggested he approach CCP for a licence to build ships, as I was sure there was a market.
More for die cast ready made stuff than model kits. You guys have reinforced that, so next time I see him I'll push him again to approach CCP.

Die cast's are cool, but after a little bit they seem kind of meh. You can paint them, but that's about it.
Plastic construction models are my fancy, becuase you can build them, and customize them as well as paint them up.
But this paper modeling stuff is awesome, becuase it's pretty close to plastic kit modeling, but it's almost free (I used the solid ink printer at work :D :D :D) and just as fun.
My domi is pretty ugly It's tech II drones do the deed. And that thorax ramming me fits oh so snugly. I surely hope this poem made your ears bleed. |

Smiffa, Hellmar saw your thread and sent the link around to everyone in the company. You're famous and your work is much appreciated.
@ the posters inquiring about die-cast or plastic models, the developement and manufacturing process is just too costly for us to take our own go at it. That's why we will be offering models like the Brutix given away at the FanFest and shown in E-ON.

Thks again and again and again for the replys! I'll certainly do some more based on all this. The response has been awsome, it really has. This is why I've played the last 2 1/2 years or so.

I've thought about the Iteron too, as once you've done the first, the other four would be sooo easy to do. Reckon the Iteron V would be a hoot if done to scale. It kinda highlights the skill in the original designs really. The Rifter holds it own supporting it's own weight - I'm willing to bet most of the others do the same too.

Did i read this right? CCP will never be doing models!? Thats a kick in the nuts for me...
On the other hand, the OP is now officialy my god... I have set up a small (soon to be full size) model of the temple to his greatness I plan to build once I have made a fleet of paper EVE ships and take over the world.
Seriously though, CCP should definately hire this guy, they should hire him NOW, and within one years time offer paper model kits to the public in the form of PDF downloads. I'd wager 9.95 per download would be fair. However it would HAVE to come with:
1: Instructions 2: Stats (actual size dimensions, crew, etc).
And preprinted stuff for the lazy. Which would include the above plus: Maybe a small 3x5 post card of an in game screen of the ship doin something uber. On the back could be the cert of authenticity. total cost 14.95+ shipping and handling :)
(PS you can hire me as creative sales manager :))
Anyway to the OP, I beg you to work on some gallente models next, I would kill to have an incursis/Enyo/Ishkur sitting on my desk at work.
Maybe you could also make swappable gun mounts for these things too? just little holes cut out with like a small straw used as a plug to fasten the turrets whichare also paper and fully articulated? That would be da uberest of dem all.

I'm going to try and build this model but I had some questions:
1. Is photo paper an acceptable substitute for 160 gsm paper? 2. Is there any type of special glue I should use? 3. When are the instructions going to be available? :) ---------- |

Instructions? you mean DEstructions? lol, no seriously tho, i think you can figure out how it goes together by looking at the pic and the ship ingame...consider it a challenge, after all, its such a fine model u need to work to have one surely?

OK, so I'm going out o get some decent paper tommorw to print the model out, but what about the glue?
WOuld simple paper glue suffice? Or is there some nice rapid setting modlers glue i've never heard of hiding out there that may make the job easier!!
and thanks again Smiffa for an amazing pice of art :-)

Ishtar....Seriously. If you are working on another one...then stop!! You must do an ishtar...I command it!!!
If the proccess is too expensive for you ccp, why not just sell the rights to make them and sit back and collect some fat royalty checks.
Smiffa Very nice work. I hope to try and build it soon.

What I would like from the EVE Store.
A pack for making your own paper/card ship consisting of:
- Instructions - Pre-printed flat patterns - Press out parts - Pre-scored folding points - Peel and Seal tape on each of the tabs that need sticking - A stand - Data/Info leaflet for that ship - Tech II accessories to Upgrade your ship (Rifter - Wolf / Jaguar) - Guns, lots of guns.
Each ship would be the same size, (eg ~30cm length)
Order 3 or more and get a free A3 poster with all ships on it to scale.
Each model kit being sold ú10-ú15 each
Smiffa, you could have just made yourself a very rich man.
