Its pretty fun. The combat system is pretty terrible though. 1v1 is great but as soon as you get to 1v3ish its just worthless.
I can take down 3 minotaur lords or 3 glass/daedric using npcs by myself, but it is hard, and takes some damn good block timing. Screw up and you're going to take half a dozen hits.

I'll admit, I gate camped in Oblivion last night. Had guys after me, so I ran away, got outside the cave, jumped up on a rock a good distance awya, and when they came out, I pelted them with arrows till the one guy died about 10 feet from me.
If there is ever a multiplayer patch for this, even if ti only lets the host play the game and the others run around as 'npcs' and someone can only rest when everyone can...etc, I'd play it, and so would others.
I'd so come hunt you guys with my lvl 28 War-Scout. Umbra has an attack rating of 30 for me.

Here's a cool trick. Open oblivion_default.ini in the oblivion folder, insert the following line into the havok section and save.
bAllowHavokGrabTheLiving=1
It allows you to manipulate corpses with the grab key. Now you can play weekend at bernies.

Where do you find the shadowmare?
I've been busy with just mages guild missions...made it to wizard so far..got Wizards Fury spell I can't use till i get higher destruction skill :( Have a DnD cleric style character...heavy armour, great healing spells and a sword the size of a small child :) I'm lvl 25 and haven't done the main story beyond the kvatch gate.

It depends on where i am, mostly i have 20ish with everything on max and HDR, 15 in some areas. If i turn HDR off i get like a 200% boost to my fps but without HDR the game looks like garbage imo.

lvl 19, ; ) now, gladiator in arena and nto long to challenge the grand champion, i heard froma friend who only did arena fights, that you get a FAN that follows you around, a little brat.
BTW, TIP:
there should be an oblivion Gate jsut south West of liyawiin, or maybe bravil, can t remeber btu its definetly south west and withing 5 min walk fromt he city.
if you clsoe that gate, and get to the the before before before boss in the middle tower,
he HAS a RING,,,,,,,,,, that makes you see at night, called: RING OF NIGHT EYE
its brilliant, a constant effect, sellign it wont make a thing, but yeah get it as its very usefull in dark areas, so you wont have to light upa torch or drink up all the potions for night eye.
------
and btw, i have a amd 2800+ nvedia 6800 gt 256 mb, 1gb ram.
with this it runs at high setting with clean frame rate. i tried highest, but that kind of reduced the frames a little.
back to oblivion see ya.

Question to the HDR-worshipping guy - the computer tells me I can't have HDR on at the same time as Bloom / anti aliasing. Do you mean to tell me the former somehow makes up for the absence of BOTH the latter!?

well i'm still lvl 1 but i've found a mage staff with sort of electricity bolts and a bow with arrows :P quite neat too :P
I really like oblivion, only it should be multiplayer for about 8 people :( i know everyone is saying it ,... but stilll

I gotta say I really like the melee combat in this game. The AI adjusts depending on what weapon its using, no more standing and swinging away. And they will set you up for a power attacks and wait to counter you for maximum effect.
Example: Has anyone else noticed that if your holding up your shield for a block, that your opponent will circle around to your left (where you cant see him behind your shield)
Or if you hold your block up to high, they'll go for your legs.
First time it happened to me I was fighting a guy who had a dagger and all I had was a longsword. (fast vs slower = best to block and counter)
So I got my shield up waiting for the attack so I can counter. WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! in my back. I was like wtf he circled around on my blind side!
So I exchange some blows and thought I was going to be slick and watch his feet, move to his right when he starts to circle and get his flank...well I raise my shield WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! on my legs.
Thats when I got ****ed threw a paralyse spell and proceeded to teach him a lesson.
Ohh and if you havent used a paralyse spell, you have to try it out...but do it when they are running at you. It has a great effect.

Got an AMD 3800 64 BIT,4 gigs of RAM
Dual 7800 NVdia SLI.
Dell 24' inch minitor.....
The game is absolutly stunning, in full HDR.
But you will have to own a card that can use HDR tech, the 6800GT and the 7800 series of Nvidia can.
