lots of respect for today's show, allthough i have to agree it was less ecxiting (probably due to the many teams not showing and lots of onesided fights) Everything else was top notch, really enjoyed it.

The ASCN NosDroneOrgyFest was the highlight of the evening. I was on the edge of my seat during that entire fight.
Good show overall guys, but man, some kind of stiff penalty needs to be implemented for no-shows. That happened WAY too often today. --- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?...
Player of the character "Amarii Oulasangeri".. or is it Andre Ricard? Bah, this little SpaceDrake can't decide. |

Edited by: Syris Anu on 15/07/2006 20:57:13 Great coverage today. As I was one of the ones reproving of the various jokes and off color commentary yesterday, I would like to say that the coverage today was much better in this regard in the latter half that I was able to watch. It sounded very professional today. Thank you for listening to those of us expressing our comments on this issue.
To those who are whining about those of us bringing this issue about off color commentary up, it's not that we are kill joys. Everyone can say whatever they want and comment how they like on EyeTV. However, people have CHOICE in how they comment and produce the show and I and others are encouraging a more professional tone so that the Eve community looks better and we encourage rather than put off female players who are in desperately short supply as it is. It is not a matter of political correctness; it is a matter of class.

Edited by: Hintshigen on 15/07/2006 21:03:29 It's more a matter of taking the fun and relaxed approach out of the show. If the so-called 'off color' commentary was that bad, don't watch it, just check the schedule at the end of the day to see who won.
No reason the rest of us have to watch a bland show with stiff presenters that have to pause and carefully choose their words so as not to offend people. The show was good today, but not nearly as enjoyable as it was yesterday. Far to much is handled with kid gloves now-a-days, shame people had to attack the show and bring down the censorship gavel.

We were more subdued today because me and Ifni were hung over, you can rest assured that the your comments and opinions were ignored and that I care more about what color pants I wear tomorrow than anything you have to say. Nothing we said was derogatory about female players and the language we used, for example 'Raped' is well known within any online gaming community as a term used to express one sides domination over another (all you have to do is read this thread to figure that out), it has nothing to do with unconsentual sexual intercourse. If you don't understand this, then you should perhaps watch EveTv more or play the game a bit more, you might learn something. If me saying raped on TV scares women off of eve, then HEAVEN help them if they ever do start playing the game.
Similarly I fail to see how Ifni referring to me as a fluffer is in anyway derogatory to women in general. If anything it was derogatory to me, however unlike you, I do not feel the need to jump infront of any passing comment making wildly inaccurate and overly generic accusations which are essentially baseless.
I fail to see what fluffers in the **** industry have to do with putting women off playing eve. Infact I would go so far as saying that it is you who are predjidiced and sterotyping for immdiately assuming that the word 'fluffers' refers to women, when the **** industry itself also employs large amounts of male 'fluffers'.
Finally, if you were here, you would be able to witness first hand, the proffesionalism of all the staff, both eve-radio, myself and ifni and ccp. For you to imply that anything we have done so far has comprimised this is just downright insulting considering the amount of work we have put into this project so far.
All in all I think you are entitled to your opinion, however I am also entited to mine, and since I'm here on TV and your... wherever... Mine is the only one I care about, and those of the hundreds of people who have contacted me over the last two days saying just what a great job the rest of the staff and myself have been doing.
This is the internet, not kindergarten...

I can understand the reasons for making the show look more "professional" for marketing reasons. But if the current players appriciated it more when the guys were joking around and having fun, shouldnt the future players also?
It was pretty obvious what the guys real personalities were, and tonight, they had to hide most of it to look more "professional". I think last night was better, maybe because we all knew tonight was faked and arranged.
But im sure some people are happier this way, and thats fine. Ill keep watching whatever you do.

Don't know about how you're set up, but I play under linux, was logged into EVE, irc AND watched the full stream. No issues.
As for the stavros post, I gotta side with him on this one.
I do have to say that today in IRC, the mods were a bit better and were kicking some folks who are/were being complete asshats. Thanks for that! ----- ------------

I have no problem with the colorful comments, tbh I absolutely dislike political correctness especially when, if you don't like it, you can just close the stream. Yes it's nice to see some class in these things, but I think it's more important for it to be fun and entertaining to watch.
The kind of talk we see on EVE TV is a part of the game, much as some people dislike that, and I think it's more important for EVE TV to be true to the game and the community as it is than to try and make it something fake or subdued just so no one will be offended. I'll leave with two points, 1) there's no such thing as the right to not be offended, 2) if you are offended then just close the stream.
It's all in jest, there's no reason to take any of it in any other way.

And you are who, precisely? Chuck Norris?
This carping about "language" on the broadcasts needs to STOP. They're using the language of the game and it's really no worse than what you see on American or British broadcast TV. I rather enjoy the commentary, tho Stavros is a nub since he can't fit a Rifter.
In short, keep doing what you're doing, CCP. There's a bunch of folks over at the Penny Arcade forums, at least, who are impressed as hell with you guys right now. --- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?...

I love how the two comments were taken in the context of male chauvinism; Stavros mentions that one team got "raped", and SUDDENLY HE'S A DESPERATE GEEK WITH WOMAN-HATING ISSUES. And Ifni's "fluffer" comment was only derogatory to those women (and men, don't forget the male fluffers) that actually work as such. And hell, they're fluffers. I don't think they have that much claim to dignity anyway. ----

was always funny to read his comments in local atleast..
btw to the people that complain about the term "rape" you realise when the word was first spoken it had nothing to do with sexually assaulting a person
Quote: raped
adj 1: having been robbed and destroyed by force and violence; "the raped countryside" [syn: despoiled, pillaged, ravaged, sacked]

If #evetv is an official Eve channel can we please get some moderation in there? Like start with banning the smacktards like Kayosoni? I don't go to #eve-online channel so I don't have to put up with his and the rest of the 12 year old smack, I don't want him and others to ruin another channel for me.
Childish crap like...
Quote: [11:09pm] <Kayosoni> ******* retard [11:09pm] <Kayosoni> go kill yourself irl
just detracts from any 'fun' this game is supposed to be.

This is the Internet. What people say has so little bearing on real life as to be all but meaningless.

Additionally, Coldfront is not hosted by CCP so they can do nothing about moderation there unless the Coldfront people give them moderation rights. --- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?...

Edited by: Ralitge boyter on 16/07/2006 07:14:38 Edited by: Ralitge boyter on 16/07/2006 07:13:47 Rape, rape, rape, bla, bla, bla.... shutup already. What if someone says other "bad" words like drugs or, or, or sex. (which for your information is not bad but actualy quite nice). Should they then be banned from the forums? Please do realize that there is a whole planet out there, where customs makes sure that language is used in many diffrent ways. Like in Holland where it is quite normal to whish for your oponent to suffer from cancer or tuberculosis. Where in Czech republic most stick to saying someone is a pig or even a small pig. Go to spain and most likely you will hear alot of people saying that you are the son of a prostitute. All of these are quite normal and accepted practices in their respective countries. The only thing you might say is that using the word rape, despite the contest and the setting, on an international broadcasted show was not the smartest of things to do.
Ok enough of the strange customs, the only reason I actualy looked at this tread was to say to the EVE-TV team that they have made the best TV that I have seen in months. I really liked seeing the contest as last years despite eve-radio's best efforts was just not as enjoyable for outsiders to follow.
Thanks EVE-TV I have finaly found that not playing EVE the whole day can be fun as well.
------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |
