Have Eve running on a laptop and a self built PC. Both clients are up to date, but the PC just quit one day and won't allow me in. The laptop, on the other hand, which is in the same netqork, can still connect and run the game. Both are using the same OS.
Strange.

sooo... i see this has been around for a long time. i was logged in fine up until downtime, and now i acquire bulk data indefinitely.
an up-to-date work around would be very much appreciated.

I have this problem since about 4 weeks aswell. This is on my laptop that I use for a sec account, it suddenly appeard after a DT and still is the same. I have tried most things exept a new windows install, nothing works.
Only way around it is to tranfer a fresh MatchoNet folder from my desktop after each DT.
Any better fix would be much appreciated.

Same issue, looking at 2 weeks now, seems to have happened since Revelations 2 patch. Petitioned and posted on many related forum threads.

i'm having this same problem, cleared out my cache, didn't work so i reinstalled and that had no effect, i would rather play eve rather than waste my money on something that i can't even play for no bloody reason
and this has only been since revelations II
a solution form the devs would be nice to see

I think this topic deserves a little more dev attention that just "dont share macho net........" i have been getting this for a few weeks now. logged out with 1 hour on BC 5 to go and now hanging on bulk data.
Fix it, give a solution, reply to the topic or watch alot of angry subscriptions vanish.

Same problem, everything worked fine until today (possibly yesterday, but I didn't try to login yesterday), cleared cache etc. Reinstalled the game, nothing works. Filed a petition and hope to get an answer soon.

Having the same problem. I am a techie so I went through everything I coul possibly do to fix it and sstill hangs on, "Acquiring Bulk Data," and/or, "Authenticating." Since Downtime on Saturday I haven't been able to log in at all. Customer Service from CCP is really bad. I'll never insutl Blizzard employees again.

Is this because of the Tiscali issue? I can log into EvE fine until around midday then no way.....hangs at bulk data stage. Stays this way until midnight. During prime time Tiscali is robbing me of bandwidth and flagging EvE as a potential bandwidth hog along the same lines as Limewire. Oh well....MAC code in hand I am migrating to BT on Monday....fingers crossed!

I am having the same problem. I've tried all the fixes suggested in this thread, but so far nothing has worked. I have gotten a reply to my petition, but it amounted to "let it run and it will clear up", which of course does not work.
When I try to let it run I get disconnected after 10-20 minutes.

I'm having the exact same problem. I was all set when I came home from my summer classes to play and then buy a few months subscription but I can't justify doing that now if after a single day of play I won't be able to play anymore without having to log in 6 times only to get logged off within 10 minutes.

OK, I just completed a brand new install of Windows Vista and Eve. The only thing on the system is Windows, Windows Update Patches, and Eve. Still stuck at acquiring bulk data.
My laptop is online and can get to Eve, so I know it is not my network.
I wish CCP would come up with a fix for this, or at least a response with some substance.

thank god im not the only one. got stuck for half an hour today aquiring bulk data.
On average it is usually 1-5 minutes EVERY time i log on.
Bump btw, wtf is a dev response?

Im having problem also with the same thing. Thought I'd come back to the game after being gone a year and redownloaded the client. Thing is I already paid a month to get back in and I cant. Hangs at the downloading bulk data. Thing is I do not even see a cache folder in my installation directory. Gonna try to reload it.

I FIXED IT...
I downgraded to XP from Vista on exactly the same machine and it's running like a charm...thanks so much (cough) to CCP for their help and response thoughout my problems 
I'd be mighty p**sed if this was the only computer I had and I could not log in. Petition open for 5-6 days now and not a peep.
Sorry I don't mean to be harsh but sometimes the response to problems is great and other times it's not.

From the comments here, the hang on ;acquiring bulk data' is a perennial problem. I have been trying for 24 hours to get on and am getting the 'acquiring *' msg. I have had probs in the past with this but after 2 mins-10-35-60, I have finally been allowed to play the game that I pay to use. No longer it seems so my money is flowing into a black hole. I reckon this game is the best ever but, hey, realistically if I cannot get in to play then I cancel the subscription. Another day or two of this and I am gone. Does anyone in CCP read these threads??

The only way i`ve been able to play EvE for months now, is to remove the pc from my router and go direct to the cable modem, which also means no other pc in the house can access the `net when i play
