Ok, time to cancel the extra accounts....the really funny thing is that I am going to have to go to work to do it since the 'cancel subscription' button on my account page loads the classic 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'.
I take the laptop to work and it is rock solid, bring it home and I get constant disconnects...great fun, just like last time.

Originally by: baldmatt I was also having the same issue and i finaly fixed it. in my case it was my ISP (qwest) having high packet loss at the level 3 net. I switched ISP's and the problem is now solved.
Do you had ping timeouts with the "old" ISP? Or you saw only packet loss, and no ping timeout? Because I have packet losses too, but I've got ping replies all the time, and no timeouts.
A little update from my side :) I've tried another ISP and worked the same, still could not login. After this, I've tried again to connect to the internet directly (no router), and WORKED. Without my router I COULD log in, so looks like the router is the cause of this. I'm asked the GMs about this with the petition, and if I have any information which could help, I'll post it.

Lesse.... CCP is telling me to send a dxdiag report. What's next? Changing the Oil in my car? can you get any more irrelevant?
I'm not behind a router. Hell, I don't even OWN a router.
My account expires in two days. Call me funny, but I'm not feeling any desire to reactivate my account.
*sigh* at least I managed to yell at the bastids enough to get my last month refunded. Still feeling like too little, too late.

Yeah, I'm getting there too. Seeing as how I haven't been able to play for (42 days ) I just don't see the point in continuing paying my two accounts. It would be cheaper just to cancel and start back up when they finally fix the problem (if ever). It's not like I'd be losing training time since I can't train right now anyway. Plus, it doesn't seem likely they'll get to it anytime soon as they're swamped with so many other problems and they're probably understaffed due to the holidays. I think that's about it for me. It was fun while it lasted.
Goodbye cruel galaxy.

I just want to bump this thread so that customer service is aware that this is an ongoing problem. It's been a year since I last played EVE, but I thought I'd renew my account this month to see what changes there have been in the game. Unfortunately, I've been unable to get into the game at all.

Originally by: Daagon I know a few other people mentioned they were seeing this too, but I was still curious about it. Data is getting corrupted that's sent from CCP to me, even from this website. Can packet loss explain this? Looks more like typical line noise you'd see back in the BBS days before protocols with error correction were introduced. And what about that? Surely TCP/IP has error correction. How is this garbage getting through?
TCP/IP's checksum mechanism is a little bit outdated. If there is a massive amount of bit errors chances are that some errors go through undetected.

Edited by: Palator on 05/01/2007 20:07:54 Just an update on my problems with the bulk data hang....
had an older Qwest modem and dlink wireless router, and had the bulk data problem. I tried everything with the router settings, to no avail. Ended up even canceling my account for a couple months. Finally decided to upgrade my old Qwest dsl modem(kind of thought the real problem might be with the old modem and not the dlink wireless router). Upgraded to the newer Qwest dsl modem/wireless router unit(2Wire 2700HG), and problems solved. I have yet to see what sort of other problems I might run into, yet, as I just installed the unit a few nights back. So far, though, the game seems to be rock solid. So glad to be back up and on the game again!!
Not saying this is the problem with others out there.....just that it solved my particular problems.

Weeeeeell... is it me or the post I just did doesn't seem to appear... That's great... So, as I said in the post "thatwassupposedtobe", I am "glad" to see that I am not the only one with this problem, and the fact that I only have been able to play once on eve is quite disapointing. But I think that the Devs are doing all they can to fix this problem, and I support them.

I can log in the morning, but as soon as they do downtime I only get "acquiring bulk data" and nothing else. Then I must wait 18 hours (morning) to be able to play for several hours until downtime again. I am getting nervous.

What surprises me the most, is that the problem onl started with a few people... but gradually seemed to increased, like a plague or somthing... That really bugs me, because if it only was some kind of malfunction with some computer, like if you have an Ateron blablabla for graphic, you can't connect or anything... but no, it seems that no matter what, it keeps going... Like if it was a virus or something... :?

Maybe it is CCP's way of curing our addictions. One account down, one more being cancelled soon. Taking my router out of the equation hasn't helped.
Laptop at work = everything is fine Laptop at home = disconnect at bulk data
Last time this bug happened ccp fixed it, as far as I am concerned they owe me a refund on four accounts over 2 months. I am not going to change IP's or even buy a new modem, I play a lot of games online, only eve gives me trouble.

This looks like the same problem as http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=331211
Some versions of Linux send out ping packets with a pattern in the payload - and check it when it comes back. You can open a terminal and try this command...
- ping -s 1464 -c 200 myeve.eve-online.com
That'll send 200 large packets - watch for corrupt ones. You can see your route to there with
- traceroute myeve.eve-online.com
You can use the same ping command against any IP along the way.
What I've found is random packet corruption at the last hop (195.50.91.98) to EVE from my home ISP. I also get corruption if I ping that IP from anywhere else, including at my office where EVE works fine - however a traceroute from my office doesn't go through 195.50.91.98 and I can play for hours on end without interruption.

Edited by: Marshall Knight on 16/01/2007 12:22:37 As a last resort try reinstalling windows this should be done every few months anyway to clear out rubbish from your system do a complete fresh install make sure you back up everything first. Give it a go see if it works also if ya using wireless try using an ethernet cable my wireless always had problems holding connection went ethernet and no problems.
If it doesnt solve the problem then it must be something to do with your internet connection or phoneline or firewall. I cant see how this could be an eve problem as others can connect just fine. I would think its computer side.
Try a reinstall of the whole system see if it works. Might be some software you have installed thats messed up some settings

Well, for me, I played it only once, so I thought at first that it was a problem with the instalation, so I reinstaled it... BUT it STILL doesn't work. It isn't a firewall problem, 'cause I put every protection of any kind down to try to play that game, still doesn't work. I don't think it's only a connection problem, seeing how many people have this problem nearly at the same time. And finally, if it IS a connection problem, I don't think I can or am going to afford installing a whole new connection changing my IP or something, just because the Only game that doesn't work here is Eve. Plus, the thing is that, my computer didn't have ANY change between the first time I connected, and the second, when it stopped working...

Sorry to hear that Cargh.
I went through every step the GMs suggested with no available results. I did disconnect my wireless router from the main router which helped with packet loss, however I still got stuck. Following help from this thread I replaced my Machonet folder located inside my cache folder with an older copy I still had, and voila! It worked! I logged in this morning and I was still able to get in, knock on wood. Hopefully the GMs can assist you with a solution.

Had this about a month ago and then it cleared up. Now its kicked in again and I'm wondering whether to bother petitioning.
Tried deleting machonet and all my cache and letting it recreate, it always fails at the same part of acquiring bulk data.
I can workaround this by rewiring my network so the router runs through my machine rather than the server.
Tested this with ALL firewalls off both local and server. Only way I can connect is linking directly to net.
No packet loss, pings under 50 god I wish I knew what was happening
