Thanks Jinx, much appreciated. I get the bug on both machines at home, but not with the machine at the office. When I take the xps2 to the office it has the bug there as well. I've been copying the machnet from the office machine except for weekends when your download has helped alot.
Small isk donation inbound, well, once the download completes.

Edited by: SgtStorm on 20/11/2006 15:37:30 Sorry about the broken linky... typo. Should be working now and we were able to reduce the file size to a trim and sexy 2mb.
I and alot of other people are able to get in w/o using the MachoNet trick now. Make sure you try it before you download the fix if you've just been applying the workaround every day. The first time you log in after the server reboot it may look like it's getting stuck, give it a minute and it should be OK. If it takes more than a couple of minutes it likely isn't fixed for you yet.

I took your file and I was able again to log inte the game. Copied eve minus machonet logged that one in (took like 5 mintes to get passed ABT) and the machonet one disconnected. Running the copy ever since, no need to update and log in process is at normal speed again. Could be that I just had to wait those 5 minutes or things got fixed around teh same time, but before that I could wait 15 minutes at ABT and nothing would happen. Anyways thanks for the imput o/

dear cj A big sincere thankyou for the file u download on a daily basis sometimes it works others it doesnt but allows me to go in and sort my skill training out etc, this is the response i eventually recieved and there explanation of the problem we all appear to be having logging in or playing the game."have been receiving reports from players that they are suffering massive connection problems in the way that they can either simply not connect to the server or they are suffering quite a lot of lag when connected. Our network administrators and our ISP are looking into the problem, it seems there are a few routing points that are causing this with Sprintlink and in Amsterdam and one in London but exact points have yet not been confirmed.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and do hope this can be fixed as soon as possible.
Best regards, GM Retrofire EVE Online Customer Support Dunno how long this will tke to resolve, but again ty for the effort you put in to help the rest of us at least log in ,,,,,,,, etc etc, yours sincerly tooshie

Thanks for the updates, keep them coming, i had some reports that some people were getting fixed, and others aren't. Also, as Sgt Storm said, i've narrowed down the file to 2mb or so now. Much easier to Download.
Also, new update for today uploaded.
Cheers - CJ

Edited by: Ranalome on 21/11/2006 15:51:16 Yay, it finally works again!
This morning I had to use your Machonet folder, Jinx. Today though, I called my ISP and got them to turn off NAT on my router. Before connecting, I deleted the Machonet folder and it connected after about 15-20 seconds.
So this may either be because NAT was turned off, which would be strange considering, it used to work with NAT.
It could also be because I deleted the folder before connecting. I advise everyone to try this out. It may take a few to download all the files mind you.
Anyways, thanks for all the help Jinx, with uploading your files and all, it was greatly appreciated.

Well, I've been in a trial period for the last 3 weeks or so. I tried Eve about a year ago and had to leave - for this EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I thought surely they'd have it fixed by now. I was willing to give CCP the benefit of the doubt that they'd fix it, but, before my credit card is billed, I'd better take off.
The machonet download workaround helped - thanks Jinx. However, I was never able to stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time. Starting yesterday, I have other problems - like no email, no chat, no agents. Petitions are going unanswered. I may as well go play Myst.
Good luck all.

Same problem here. Along with the acquiring bulk data problem, and constant disconnects...starting yesterday, no email, no chat, no agents, no dynamic map data (Pilots currently docked, Kills, etc). At least I can still train skills.

Having the same problem here. As if having to basically manually patch my game each day (which I can only do because of some dedicated and totally helpful community members) wasn't enough of an irritant, now I am basically playing a single player game as I have no method to communicate with anyone else in-game (or do missions for that matter). I hope they resolve this soon...this isn't worth paying 15 dollars a month for.
Anyone know of any solutions to the no chat/mail/agent problem?

There's some very varying responses here, but so far it looks like nobody has an official 'you're fixed' response. Also, for 2 days there has been a shorter version of the download, 2mb, and if that coincides with the stuffing up of some people who can't get agents, mail etc. I'll look into it.
I'll be calculating some stats also to see where the trend is going and who is downloading it, how many. I can't keep it up forever though, As always; post in here if you have any information.

CJ - I concur - I think the 2mb machonet file might be the cause of the email/Agents etc issues. Im usualy downloading your file the moment its available and it didnt work after the regular server restart, or after the unsched one. Again - thanks for the effort.

Just so you guys know, if the client needs to be updated, the process of acquiring bulk data (especially if you've removed your machonet folder) can take minutes and minutes. So be sure to actually let it wait out if you're having trouble. Also, I hope the newer sized version worked a bit better last night.

Email, chat, and agents all appear to be operational again...but then again I reinstalled the client last night. Don't know if that fixed it or your "newer sized" machonet.
Anyway, I'd like to thank you for doing so much us to help us out.

hi, i got this
Hi,
You said everything works fine without the router or using another router, but you still insist it can not be a problem with that router? Our ISP does have some issues as stated in one of the previous replies. When you recorded the pingplotter data, was the router that you're having problems with connected or not? If it wasn't please provide us with the information while you have that router connected. One thing that might be possible that the connection is routed thru a different route when you're using that router.
In the future please do not write in capital letters.
Best regards, GM Xamother EVE Online Customer Support
So, the gm said, my router the wrong.

Edited by: ChickenPox on 25/11/2006 19:16:53 I seriously doubt it's your router. Not unless all of our routers suddenly stopped working at the same time (and miraculously start working again when we have a good machonet folder). But I suppose they have to rule out other possibilities.
I was wondering if anyone else was also have the following problem, as it started at the exact same time as this "Acquiring Bulk Data" problem, and I experienced it last March when many of us were having this same issue. When I visit these forums, occassionally a page is corrupted. It's almost as if some of the HTML is missing. So, sometimes the text of message is displayed in the same table column as the authors name and picture...or sometimes in other weird places. Sometimes I see fragments of HTML. All of this is behavior you'd expect to see with corrupted/missing HTML tags. Anyone else seeing it?

this page (eve-online) also corrupted to me. All symptome what u write, i experienced. And not this is the first time when many people got this loggin in issue. In this year around marc. i got same issue, like now. But i got router for 2 month from my friend and using it. 3months later i try again my old router (this) and working properly. And now again got this issue. So the problem is NOT with my router.

I'm too having problems with the login and acquiring bulk data. I have to download CJ's MachoNet fix everyday to be able to play the game. I'm currently a 14 day trial user and considering to buy the game and time to play, but not with these problems around. Also getting disconnected from the server constantly starts to bug me off. |
