I'm curious... for those out there that were using the borrowed Machonet folder, did you experience frequent disconnects after you managed to log in? The reason I ask of course is that I was experiencing that problem (can't even log in now that there's no machonet folder help), it was so bad at times that I would disconnect 5 times in 20 minutes! (not kidding). And it seemed to happen most when undocking and jumping, but sometimes it was just random. On a side note, I get all kinds of odd errors even while browsing the eve online website... strange.
I guess I just want to know if there is any point in sitting around and waiting for a fix for this machonet thing just to discover that I still can't play even if I can log in...
I haven't played this game long, and from what I've seen I could really get into it, but it just isn't worth the aggrivation I've experienced thus far.

If the dev team doesn¦t want players to help each other getting a hold of a folder which isn¦t doing what its supposed to, they better start sharing the machonet folder with us..... we have to get it some way or the other to play this game.
Please, that would just be too easy. Besides, they'd have to explain to curious reviewers and potential customers why such a thing is necessary in the download area.
Ten days and counting to account cancellation...

I've been down since the 27121 patch now. Still not getting anything useful from my petition. The ONLY thing that has worked at all for getting me logged in is the machonet folder, and often even that won't work. In those rare moments when I can log in, things don't seem to work reliably and I get disconnected frequently.
I am not amused.

When will somehting be done to this???
I filed my first petition on this matter on november 13. and i could log onto eve for just long enough to change my skills using the machonet folder, which was VERY kindly shared by TARDZ.
At the moment i can look at a nice loading bar saying "aqcuiring bulk data".
These are the things i have tried to make it work so far...
updated directx updated graphic drivers updated sound drivers run pingplotter (NO packetloss whatsoever) traced eve¦s IP in the command program (no packetloss 11 ms response) renamed the img folder renamed the cache folder deleted the capture folder reinstalled eve 3 times installed eve in a new folder on a new harddrive
And i dont have a router or a firewall. i¦ve talked to my ISP and they don¦t have a firewall or a router blocking the bulk data sent by EVE
This has taken me a total of 7 hours combined so far... and i havent been able to PLAY for a month, sure i have been able to log on, change skills and buy a ship but THAT¦S IT!!!!
How long would take for a DEV to download the TARDZ machonet folder, analyse it, compare it with their own folder to see if there has been made any alterations to it and then putting it into the download section on this very site???
But hey, i¦m not mad.... I¦m as ****ed as i have never been before in my entire life. I feel that the dev team looks more into the fact, that the description for the nighthawk being wrong, is more important that several PAYING players can¦t do jack in this crappy situation.... GET ON WITH IT FFS!!!!!

Something about all of this doesn't add up... first off, the problem really shouldn't be high ping times or even packet loss... both are typical of any internet connection, and while they may cause latency, they should not cause disconnects. Based on the fact that most people have no problems, it is unlikely that the problem is serverside... so I decided to run some clientside tests.
I installed the EVE client on my work computer. My work comp doesn't have a graphics card so the game ran very slowly but it connected with no problem, and stayed connected for over 6 hours before I had to go home for the day. So I ran pingplotter on my work computer and surprisingly, it is on the same ISP as my home system (qwest.net) it shows similar ping times, and even shows the same packet loss that I was seeing at home.
So I don't think the problem is high pings or packet loss... the only significant differences between my work comp and home comp are: Dual CPU vs single CPU Dual VGA vs no VGA SB X-Fi vs no sound card
now granted, any one of these differences may be the problem, but they don't cause any problems with ANY other games that I play, online or otherwise, and I see no reason I should have to disable components of my system just to be able to play one single game.

It seems to me that something must have been introduced in the patch that spreads this problem as until today I have had no issues with the client what-so-ever apart form the Dual CPU problem which was fixed by using the boot.ini fix. This morning the client was working fine and I was happily flying through space shooting Rats. Since the patch I have been stuck on the Bulk Data bar. All I have been advised to do is to delete my cache (which I had already said I had done) and re-install the client. It is somewhat upsetting when you have put a great deal of time into playing a game and forming good friendships with people on it and all of a sudden you have no way to access it. Especially when you have only just started a years subscription.

They said it because making sure people don't bring up cases of computer hacking against them is more important that like a hundred or so people not playing. They are a business after all.

I for one, will be continuously posting about this inability to login UNTIL IT'S MENTIONED IN THE PATCH NOTES SOMEWHERE.
The responses, mainly the lack thereof, from the GM's has been a complete joke. I've posted about this issue over 10times and each time it's skipped over by Kieron for the patch notes. Even a mention from a GM about the possibility of poor coding. I mean come on. You're telling me that it's MY computer that is to blame when I use to play this game RIGHT before Revelations and now all of a sudden my computer along with several others just magically don't WANT to login anymore? Are you kidding me?????

I'm gonna send Petitions to them too, just figuring out which subject section is best :/ none of their sub-sections directly relate to a login problem. |

This is so utterly stupid. CCP boasts and basks in it¦s own headlights and can¦t see the huge truck full of angry paying customers about to run them down. They are "aware" of problems? Oh, jolly good then, makes it good then, does it? Hmmmm? EULA does not cover incompetence, ok? Finn 1x****ed-off-paying-customer.......atm

This sucks big time, had it last time aswell...
Today I tried without my D-Link router (DI-804) and was able to login and play without disconnects, though this is not a solution to the problem but I don't have to download another players MachoNet folder.
I've updated my petition with my findings and some results from the Ping Plotter.
Though the response from GMs and Dev Team has been below bad...I honestly think CCP ***** big time on customer support, at least a daily or bi-daily response on a problem that has been "alive" for over a month now would not be to hard to give.
Out.

Hello guys!
I guess out the solution. Buyed a new router. Eve working fine with DI-524.
Thanks to CCP this 3 week without playing, and the customer support. Never seen better. A+++++

You know, I might be inclined to try that if I was positive it would work. Tomorrow marks the fourth week I've been having this problem. Probably would have cancelled my subscription by now if not for Jinx. I think CCP owes him a free month or two...for doing their job for them.

I'm NOT buying a new modem. EVE is the only thing that doesn't work. I can stay connected to other games for hours and hours.
Priorities are out of whack. Esoteric things are being given priority over game-crashing bugs.
Eight days to cancellation.

The new version conflicted with my security suite. Had to reboot entire computer from XP CD due to corruption of files. I've tried reinstalling 3 times and my system works fine until I instal Eve and then CRASH.
I'm waiting until the patch next week and hoping for the best, otherwise, cancelling my account.

Hey guys. I've also been having this problem for a while now. I just repeatedly submitted bug reports (the back button on your webbrowser can be quite useful!). It may not solve the problem but it makes me feel good.
CCP are about as useful as a chocolate fireguard especially those stupid GMs...I've been taken for a walk by all the GMs that have contacted me after submitting a petition.

CCP must burn through developers really fast. This was an issue a year ago. Didn't they write down how they fixed it? It was actually fixed after the Revelations thing, then crept back in? Where and when? Why is this so hard?
Oh well, I'll soon move on.

Keep an eye on your billing start date - CCP will most definitely make sure that they are paid. I'd start looking to cancel about five days beforehand since their billing system will probably go down right before your date. I experienced that about a year ago. (Keep your credit card dispute phone number handy, just in case.)
I'm bugged. It's Friday night, I have a weekend of studying for finals ahead of me. I paid a monthly fee for a game that doesn't work (but players are online as I speak cursing "wrecks"). I guess I'll go rent a DVD.

i am thinking it has something to do with a conflict created when you log into eve multiple ways at around the same time, but more important when you log into forums first then try to game login
not sure the order there, but it's something like that

HA! Thanks for the kind words, but after all the work i did to help them and you guys, and being the only person who didn't actually complain to ccp; my reward instead was being condemned for my help.
Typical.
