well its working now for me logged on at 21:00 hrs had jinx MachoNet file in the cache took ages must have tryed 20+ times to get in then i just entered game . logged on today @ 13:56 (afterdown time)GMT didnt use the jinx patch and still go in.im not saying i didnt try lots of things to get back on in the first place but it seems strange looking back over the last 2 days of trying everything to just to get back so easy. the jurys out for me it could be a conflict (windows media player 11,EA downloader, and ati control centre)where the only real things i turned of (updates)etc.Or was it a faulty router ??? wished i could help you more anyways i may be back here tomorrow when it stops working .

Well, I must say that the gms have tried to be very helpful, and have gotten back to me several times on my petition. So, unlike many here, I have no complaints about customer service....just wish they knew what the fix was.....lol. I have about 15 days left on my account, so will try several times before it actually cancels. Worse comes to worse, I'll just train a long time skill just before the cancel date and take a break from the game.
It's not like it's going to kill me. Lots of other stuff to do out there.

The fact that some people are experiencing this problem without a router confuses me. Because i'm fairly sure, from my background in similiar problems that this is packet related. Blocked, incomplete, perhaps even destionation never being recieved. And I know for a FACT that some people have stopped receiving the problem once they disabled router / pc firewalls. So that's a local issue, but some aren't. Confusing.
As always guys, my linky to my download page is.... Here

Try lowering MTU on the device connecting to internet. I solved my problem at 1412.
Why? It's a long story... i'll make it simple as much as i can
the internet is a bunch of routers, forwarding packets from one to another... some routers have problems rewriting packets of a certain size, and there is one having problem rewriting between you and EVE server.
If someone is successfull in connecting to EVE with this techniq, let the others know!

Alright, this is downright ridiculous, I haven't been able to log in for over two weeks now. I reset my password to something less complicated and am letting a buddy of mine do my skill training until this nightmare is resolved.
But this is just downright absurd. TWO WEEKS!?

Just wanted to say thanks again, CJ, for the usable machonet download. That is at least allowing me to get in and change skills and keep my petition open until my official cancel date rolls around. Has been a real lifesaver just to be able to get in and reset skills and such.

Edited by: Jozif on 03/12/2006 12:06:00 yep, yesterday able to logging in without fresh machonet folder, but today no. And the new trend is not ermain the progressbar in aquiring bulk data, now got connection lost from server. I try all day loggin with existing machonet folder, some day sucess, some day not. I have a bit luck, because im able unplugg my router make shortcut direct connection between adsl modem and pc, and if need downloading new machonet folder for myself. But the fun is CCP **** for our head, no GM response here, they only said, iam the stupid, my router sure wrong. I lived it 6 months ago once, but i have luck i got router from my friend for a short time. Now looks like the only solution, if i going to shop and buyin other type of router. But who guaranted to me, the new router working with eve? And repeat the router is working perfectly, able open pages, downloading from anywhere, playing other multiplayer games, only the EVE not running, and the eve-online website showing up broken. (sometimes missing html tags, etc.) So thank you CCP the No1 support.
And c. Jinx can u said how many ppl downloading the machonet folder day-by day? Just curious, how many ppl suck with it approximately.
thnx

Hi everyone:
I received news back from GM Retrofire. I hope this is applicable to everyone:
Quote: Hi.
It seems the following temporary fix has allowed some players to log into the game in a more speedy manner and are able to open People and Places.
1) Rename your ../Eve/Cache/Browser/img folder to anything, i.e. img2 2) Run Eve 3) Delete the newly created img folder 4) Log into the game. 5) This should allow you to play without problems, Remember to follow the instructions above for each time you log in until this will be fixed by the developers. It should be a part of a patch that'll be released soon.
It will take a long time for players with this many bookmarks to log in and open their People and places, our only suggestion in this case is patience and that when People and places have loaded they delete all uneccessary bookmarks. Doing so will shorten their log in time later on.
Try renaming the cache folder of the EVE directory aswell. This should solve this problem. Please note that this will cause your settings and bookmark folders unavailable. However you can retrieve them from the renamed cache folder. Also delete the Capture folder. (you can either move it out of the CCP directory or delete it)
Best regards, GM Retrofire EVE Online Customer Support

ok to all those sharing an machonet folder, you are risking your accounts security and we will not be responcable if anything happends to your account.
during the "getting bulk data" thing, you are downloading the static data, it might be that you are losing data packets which i guess could make the process hang. i am looking into this issue atm

Good to hear from someone on the dev team. Take note that players with this issue also get disconnected constantly and that it is the second time it has occured in the year I have been playing. The first time it was cleared without any action on my part and the game has worked perfectly for months between problems with the same hardware/software/drivers as before.

The only connection I have found is the network that the machine is connected to seems to be different. Have you seen 2 systems on the same network act differently? Basically I think the servers need to be a little more flexible with response times or their customer market base will need to shrink up to those <150ms pings... or move the infrastructure to hub & spoke with SLA bound interconnects to ensure quality... just some ideas IĘm sure CCP has already considered but likely havenĘt found a confident way of remotely managing their stuff from England.
All hearsay of course.

Hi Sharkbait. I don't think any of us are hanging in this stage anymore. Since the patch, I think we're all just getting disconnected after the "getting bulk data" progress bar fills up.

If this is supposed to insinuate something then the free hosting of the machonet files i've been doing for a month or whatever, I don't want to get into trouble for helping people, so i think i'll just stop and let the pros deal with it.
Takes a load of work off my chest.

Gah! Great, I just bought this game yesterday only to find I can't even log in! After a few hours of trying to figure out the problem, I then came to this thread, where the folder helped me to log in, even though IĘd still disconnect every hour or so.
Day 2 and it seems like IĘve done all the playing possible for nową I didnĘt even realize it would need a daily download until I futilely tried to log in just now.
Thumbs up for Colonel Jinx, for temporarily solving the problem for many people. I can understand why youĘd want to stop, though it still sucks. :p
What I donĘt get, is if it takes just one folder every day to solve this problem. Why donĘt you release an official version of this, like a daily ōpatchö for the less lucky people. ThatĘd be safe, and takes the work of CJĘs chest too.

Hi peeps again I would just like to respond to Sharks post or thread on the last page there if i may.The issue of security and everthing else that i have read and loads of frustrated players paying there moneys and sticking to the rules and regulations etc and following the correct complaints procedures. You come away with a statement like the aforementioned , with reference to nothing else that has been complained or asked about on the last 5 pages of this thread on this forum, and many others as well that i have noticed.I think that was a disgrace! even the responses from the gm.s have been on mass ! But at least they responded. But all i hear is that its the players pc, or this set up or that.It never appears to be a problem that ccp might be having?? Now the fact is clear to me even though I am no pc whizz kid or expert We all appear to run diff systems down to processors and routers to isp's and the likes. But none of us have a problem with any other game or browswer connection or the game until recently. Therefore all the other temp fix's have not worked ..yet .... the fix from cj does... and it works for us all that have had the same problem logging in or getting stuck on aquiring bulk data>What is so hard to understand about that info?? Question no 2 why as previously mentioned can some eve whiz kid not set up oan the website beside the news or the latest info on eve tv etc ..... a temp machonet file for all of us to use and allow us to PLAY FOR WHAT WE PAY FOR!! wOULD THIS NOT RELIEVE YOUR WORK LOAD A TAD UNTIL THAT ISSUE IS SOLVED ? aS I'M SORRY TO SAY THAT BLAMEING YOUR PLAYER BASE IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE !! OOps sorry just jumped of my soap box there... oh and another we problem i have is now the connection to allow me to update my petition doesn't connect... How convenient is that eh......... coincidence or my set up more than likely, yet i can post in here( scratches her chin)Oh and cj i have no router in answer to ur question previous and another big ty for the folder...... glad someone is trying to help us get to update our stuff even though ccp gets the subcription.....

After 1 month waiting, the result packet loss??? With a basic net-analyser anybody can find this out in a minute!! TCP Retransmissions and TCP Checksum errors all the time when the client connecting to the server, and tring to acquire bulk data. So please, do something about this.

I¦m getting sick and tired of this game...
If the dev team doesn¦t want players to help each other getting a hold of a folder which isn¦t doing what its supposed to, they better start sharing the machonet folder with us..... we have to get it some way or the other to play this game.
And the idea with the img folder..... it doesn¦t work for me
